Owen-B - The Complete Recordings - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Henry Franklin's Tribal Dance takes the spiritual fire of his Black Jazz classics and pushes it into deeper, more propulsive territory, driven by Sonship's relentless percussion and Franklin's signature bass groove. Blending deep groove, fiery solos, and moments of meditative beauty, this 1977 session is a lost masterwork of forward-thinking jazz. Album Tracks 1. Tribal Dance 2. Eric's Rune 3. For Penny 4. Spring Song 5. Cosmos Dwellers 6. Prime Mover

Other People's Songs is a collection of eight covers that Kinsella recorded this spring in Chicago with trusted producer Neil Strauch. At first glance, the list of the rock and punk artists whose tracks Kinsella tackled - among them Against Me!, Depeche Mode, the Promise Ring, and Lungfish - might seem at odds with the often quieter, lushly arranged music he releases under the Owen moniker. But upon closer inspection, one finds the kind of excellent songwriting and lyrical wit that are hallmarks of Kinsella's own recorded output. Album Tracks 1. Descender 2. Girl in a Box 3. Some Kinda Angel 4. Forget Me 5. Judas 6. Just Like Them 7. Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart 8. Under the Blanket

Chicago's Mike Kinsella is the sole creative output behind Owen. From an artist who has, in the past, recorded entire albums in his childhood bedroom berating lost love and personal missteps, it's a new chapter. The end result is this record, a new extension in the lineage of Owen's music. Album Tracks 1. Bad News 2. The Sad Waltzes of Pietro Crespi 3. Bags of Bones 4. Use Your Words 5. A Bird in Hand 6. Windows and Doorways 7. Femme Fatale 8. One of Theses Days
