This is great for a couple of floor lamps. You will need to hook up the hub to a router. It would be great if it had WiFi option.

The price of this starter kit was too good to pass up. I followed the setup instructions, downloaded the app for my Galaxy 5S and after a little experimenting, figured out how to control the smart bulbs. Occasionally, I cannot get the bulbs to work independently with the phone's app but eventually it will start to work (might be a wireless issue, not sure). However, when I do have control, they really work and look great. Am now also hooked up to Google Home and need to play around with it more so I can control individual bulbs. But so far so good. I just wish the instructions were a bit more detailed and contained some real examples (such as how to use them with Google Home rather than have me have to jump on the internet for instructions).

This product was my first experience using smart lights and I couldn't be happier! It is very easy to setup and use. I have replaced all of my lights with these and look forward to trying the color lights as well.

The sale package deal is pretty good compared to buying everything individually. These lights are great for my purposes because I get to turn them on or off from anywhere. That's important to me b/c it is a way to keep intruders guessing if I'm really home or not. I'm a bit paranoid like that. Anyway, I started off with 2 and now have 7. Be careful, they are addicting. If you buy a colored one, buy the 3rd generation bulb. The colors are richer.

Okay, maybe it's not life-changing, but this Philips - Hue White A19 Starter Kit is great for Amazon Echo users. Setup wasn't as obvious as I thought it would be, but all it took was a little patience in reading the instructions, and it was set up in minutes. Setup (5/5) I bought this as a gift for my brother, but I was there when he set it up. All you do is set up the bridge/hub to your Wi-Fi. Once that is done, you just download the Philips app and then just link your Echo to the lights through the Alexa App settings. You can customize what you want to call your light. For instance, my brother's are set up in living room, so he calls it living room (i.e. "Alexa, turn on/off Living Room"). That's it; you're set up! If you don't have an Echo, the Philips App will be sufficient as it allows you to dim and turn on/off the lights through there. Obviously, you just won't get the voice control! Light Quality (5/5) So packaging says that bulb will last 20+ yrs if used 3 hours a day. Will get back to you a couple decades later (joke). The dimmable feature is great; if you're light-sensitive like me, you could dim it to comfortable levels. You could buy an individual bulb just about anywhere (i.e. Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) for $14.99 if you decide to install more throughout your home. Not sure if there is a limit to how many bulbs a hub could manage, but just check before you go nuts and buy a dozen of them. Overall, this set works great. No problems have occurred thus far (2 months) in terms of connectivity or durability. I recommend this product to lazy people (me) and normal people alike who want to turn on lights without having to walk 5 feet across the room.

I'd never given any thought to a product like this before - up to now, I'd always used traditional dimmers. The problem with these was either having to replace a wall switch, or using an external dimmer and running additional cords, both of which could be a pain. Then I received an Amazon Echo for Christmas and learned that I could control Hue lights with my voice - what could be easier or cooler than that? So I decided to play and picked up this starter kit. Setup was reasonably easy; I had problems at first because ironically Amazon's Hue app doesn't work at all on my Fire tablet - it won't locate the hub no matter what I do. I switched to the app on my phone, and it located and set up the hub easily. From that point I labeled my two bulbs and created a room, then enabled the skill in Alexa. Now I can tell Alexa to brighten or dim the lights just by asking! It's really very cool and useful, and I'm considering some of the other Hue products to enhance lighting in other areas. The only real problem I've seen so far is that it looks like 5% is the lowest dimmer setting, which isn't quite as low as I can get with an external dimmer. It's pretty close, though, so I'm not too concerned. Otherwise it's a great product.

I used my Phillips hue as a bridge to be able to control lights with Amazon Alexa. I also have a Samsung Smarthings Hub. The hue hub works great and the application that comes with it is nicely done. Only problem I have noticed is that when we get occasional electrical outages the whole system disconnects from Alexa unlike Samsung Smarthings Hub that connects automatically without problems. I have to manually restart the Phillips hub in order to get it working again. But other that I'm happy and would certainly but this system again.

I had a small problem at first trying to set the lights up. Not much of a manual. When I finally figured it out it was very simple and it works great.

Excellent product. Easy set up. I use mine with Google Home and on Android and iOS. Works reliable 99% of the time. Occasionally one of my three lamps will not obey my command...not a big deal. Great dimming capabilities, as the range is wide. A little pricey, for a bulb, but if you buy one hear and there it is not too bad. The hub itself is pretty much plug and play.

I was first skeptical at first as to whether I would really need smart light bulbs and their functionality in my home. I was pleasantly surprised to find how functional and convenient it is. For example, I am able to turn on and off my bedroom lights from my bed, allowing me not have to constantly get up to provide light in my surroundings. QUICK AND EASY SET-UP!

I purchased the Phillips Hue Starter Kit after receiving an Amazon Echo Dot for Christmas and it is a lot of fun being able to control my lights with my voice. it's like a clapper with less effort! and the ability to dim these lights without the need of a dimming switch, but there is an optional remote that has dimming capabilities in case you didn't want to use your voice or the phone app. Only downside I would give is the price. Hopefully over time this product will start to get cheaper and cheaper.

I bought this as my first foray into connected products to use with our Echo Dot. The setup was fairly simply although I had to resynch the hub a few times to get it to properly connect to all apps and Dot. All in the setup took about an hour. Since then we've had no problems controlling our lights either through the app or Dot. They work exactly as we wanted and I love the ability to control via voice and also dim the lights where we couldn't before. I expect to purchase more Hue products over time.

I needed hub to start a Hue light system in my house, and this was a perfect choice and better bargain than just buying the hub alone. Basically for $10 more you get 2 additional white lights. The white light are definitely not as full featured as the colored, but with this kit they are super cheap. Overall very easy to set up.

Got this kit to allow for remote management of lights. Currently using this with the Philips Hue app to turn on porch/deck lights on schedules as well as have lights come on automatically in the living room /bedroom after dark if I'm coming home, no more having to find the light switch in the dark. So much more than I can write about can be done with the hue bridge and hue app. This is a must for anyone who wants home automation.

Just got the Philips Hue starter kit today. Within minutes I had it up and running. The app walks you through the whole process. Then I was able to connect my Amazon Echo Dot to the different areas where I have the lights installed. Worked like a champ!!!

Works well with Alexa. Love the ease of turning lights off without needing to get up

This starter package is easy to work with. I use my Phillips Hue starter kit with google home and it works great. Once you down load the app and link it to google home it's easy to control your lights with your voice via google home or from you iPhone/tablet.

Great starter kit if you want to start slowly converting your home into a smart home, it is expandable through the app and very easy to pair. So simple that I went out to purchase more Phillips bulbs to add on. Works great with Apple homekit, but the best part is what you can do through the Phillips app by creating scenes, and dimming the lights through Siri.

This kit has been great! It works exactly as stated. I've used the hub with additional light bulbs that I've purchased separately (both Hue and non-Hue) and it's been super easy to connect up and control. I've also linked to Amazon Echo and have had no problems controlling the lights with that device either. Very pleased with how easy it was to setup and operate.
