The lights are pretty cool. I can customize each one. Only issue is it comes with 3 bulbs instead of 4. All my ceiling fans have 4. So I purchased one extra bulb. The hue app is set for 3 lights so if you buy more lights then it's going to be complicated. I figured out how to have all four on the same cycle but it was the only hassle. Going back to BestBuy this weekend to get 4 more lights for my living room.

Installation was as easy as screwing in a light bulb. Plugged the hub into our router and downloaded the app. The bulbs themselves are decent, you have to remember that you lose intensity in the more saturated colors. I also found that you should not mix products in the same area as the colors from the bulbs and the Bloom or Lightstrip are inconsistent. It is nice to be able to change the atmosphere of a room with the touch of a button.

To set up the Hue lights you just need to follow a very easy set up, doesn't even take more than 5 minutes to be able to control them with the app ( app has to be downloaded from Apple ) they are truly amazing!

I have over 20 lights between my business and home. I've recommended this product to over a hundred customers. I absolutely love this product.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this ambiance kit. It includes three color programmable lights AND the bridge to start connecting your lights to wifi in your home. ONe bridge is good for up to 50 lights, so you only need one kit to start up. We have one on each side of the TV and one in the back of the living room. Don't forget to check out the light strip (sold sep) for behind the TV! Use them all together and it looks awesome!

Before buying this product I did my homework. I was looking for long lasting bulbs that I could change the mood with. This product did just that. And then some. When I walk in my house now. My lights come on for me thanks to apple HomeKit intergration.

I have my whole house set up with these lights. Light strips br30s and a19 bulbs.and they are amazing. The only colors I'm not happy with is on the bulbs is green it's not green at all and the yellow is not all that good but other then that it's one of the best products I've purchased and you will save a ton on your electric bill.

We were looking for a solution to replace three lights in my living room (two table lamps and an accent light behind our TV) and also make them dimmable. I came across the Philips Hue Starter kit and decided to look into it. All of the advertised features really looked good, but I was a bit worried about operating these lights without a traditional light switch. The reviews and instructions say that you need to keep power ON for these lights at all times and not to use the wall switch. Philips recommends that you use the APP to control their on/off function or add the Hue Dimmer Switch to control them. So we bought both the Starter Kit and the Dimmer Switch. Setup is a real breeze; install the light bulbs and power them on, then install the Wireless Bridge and download the app. We use the app on our iPhones. Follow the instructions on the app to enable the system and the lights. It's amazing, it just worked! No hitches or glitches. Adding the dimmer switch was also very easy and you can assign certain lights to it or a particular scene (which is what we did). So when I press the ON button it turns all three lights on using the Default scene. Another nice feature of this set is the Geofence option. When you enable Geofencing, your lights will automatically turn on when your phone comes within range of your home network. After work, when I pull up to my mailbox at the end of my driveway to get my mail, I can see the lights turn on through the window! The lights are very responsive, virtually no lag even though they are being instructed through the home network. The colors are a nice touch for setting up the mood or ambiance of the holidays. We mostly use the Default and Relax scenes, but the others are fun too. The app comes with several pre-installed scenes or you can make your own. Maybe the only downside to the system is the price. But we decided to buy it using some of our Best Buy Rewards so it made it an easier decision. The Philips Hue system may not be for everyone, but for those who are into home automation or looking for a way to spruce up the lighting in your home, the Philips Hue system delivers.

We're digging the Philips hue hardware. This new hue LED White and Color Ambiance Starter Kit comes with the updated bulbs that are slightly brighter than the first generation bulbs. They're also built for 25,000 hours of use—almost double the projected life span of the original hue bulbs. The Starter Kit also comes with the new HomeKit-compatible hue bridge—a bonus if you're using Siri on iOS and/or the 4th generation Apple TV. It'll put a smile on your face the first time you speak and then your lights magically turn on! The Philips hue software and user account website are unfortunately not created to the same high standards. Without using 3rd party apps, many of the hardware capabilities are not conveniently accessible, or not precise enough for more advanced control. It's an exercise in frustration to attempt to set up the Philips hue system using Philips' own software. If you purchase this starter kit, be sure to budget a little extra to buy apps that will give you more lighting options and better control. (I'd recommend those apps here, but doing so is beyond the scope of this review.) Without 3rd party apps, you may be disappointed in the Philips hue system because its capabilities will be hidden from you. Another recommendation based on our experience: make sure your Wi-Fi network has reliable coverage. If it's a bit weak in certain areas (like ours was initially), you'll lose control of the hue bulbs in those areas. We upgraded our Wi-Fi router and the problem (mostly) went away. Occasionally, one or two bulbs in our home will randomly "get stuck" and requiring powering off and back on before they're controllable again. If you take the time to program carefully your favourite lighting scenes using non-Philips apps, you'll love what the Philips hue hardware can do. That they use so much less energy than tungsten bulbs while creating a much nicer quality of light than compact fluorescent bulbs makes the investment that much more satisfying.

Originally started out with just the 2 lights in the starter pack. The bridge and lights were a breeze to setup and get started. Still exploring all the various colors these lights can produce with the different scenarios. Since the initial purchase, have purchased 2 more color and 4 white lights. I have paired the bridge with my Amazon Echo and can control all the lights with either the voice commands for the echo or the hue app on my phone and tablet. Now exploring the "fun" part of the lights by purchasing apps written specifically for various events that will control the lights and provide audio - such as - the "hue fireworks". Interesting how $1.99 app can make the lights look like fireworks going off in all their color while simultaneously making the audio explosions. The hue bridge will also allow for alarms which turn on/off whatever lights you choose at whatever time you want and has a repeat function so that you set it once and the bridge does all the work of remembering.

Siri hiccups and lack of control with multiple devices bring my rating down a star. pricey but fun, nerdy but useful. being able to control all of your lights in a room or house from your phone (with or without Siri) is great! geofencing so when you pull up at night the porch light goes on, or all your light shut off when you drive away. dimming and fun color schemes give it that fun but completely useless edge... who needs/wants a room with all pink and red lights? no one, ever, even on Valentine's Day. but, purchase a Hue Remote also because pulling your phone out just to turn on a bedroom light at night sucks.

I've wanted these for a long time because wi-fi enabled lighting is such a fun concept! These are great for the person who is into unnecessary gadgets. Two big cons: even at the brightest settings, they are never as bright as a standard compact fluorescent bulb. The standard app is confusing and not very useful; I recommend getting a free third party app. These have a lot more lighting scenes and are a lot more useful and user friendly. As for the brightness issue, if you prefer dimmer lights, these are great. With enough of them you could adequately light up a whole room. Still fun to play with and great for parties, etc.

After trying a number of different brands of dimmable, color/white LED programmable lights, Hue is hand down the best of the lot. Even with the higher cost of entry (about $200 for the 3-bulb color starter set), the hub (with noticeable stability improvements over the 1st generation hub) is a much easier, unified point of control for your lighting. Other bulbs which operate with a bluetooth responsive chip in the bulb (with no central hub component) sound great but when the bulb fails to respond it means unscrewing and reinstalling the bulb which can be very cumbersome in recessed lighting or tall ceiling environments. The hub offers a single-button reset and even though it seems like it just makes for a more cumbersome process is highly advantageous. Also, Philips has advanced its range of white light options with its color bulb or has enabled easier selection from the white spectrum that the bulb has always been capable of producing, I'm not sure which but early kits while claiming to be capable of warm white light failed to produce light much warmer than a light refracting through an icicle-- blue and cold. The current system allows for a very wide range of warm white light-- from candle to incandescent bulb to sunlight. All very natural. So, if you're in the market for these types of builbs (and they are half novelty, i might add-- if all you want is dimmabe white, there are certainly less expensive options), bite the bullet and spend a little exra upfront. In the end, you'll be glad you did.

Love 'em....but jeez they're high priced. Coupled with the Amazon Echo, you get great voice control. The Hue App provides a variety of useful settings. Excellent product, unfortunately they are not recommended for enclosed fixtures....it would be nice to have these in the hallway/stairway lights.

The Hue lighting system is everything I had hoped for and more. The lights are bright, the colors are vivid, and the entire system was a breeze to set up. My favorite parts are how my lights turn off when I leave my house, and automatically turn on when I get home, as well as the "simulated sunrise" my lights do before my alarm goes off to help me wake up easier.

These are great lights. Can be controlled rough your iPad, android phone, or even through Alexa. These particular bulbs let you change the colors, brightness levels, and even coordinate with other bulbs to set pre arranged scenes.

These lights are pretty awesome! I use the geofencing feature which makes coming home easy and makes me feel better about not leaving a ton of lights on. Easy to set up and use and some pretty cool apps for it. Some of my rooms have inconvenient light switches or none at all so these are amazing. Definitely getting more!

A little expensive, but worth every penny! I have people and guests commenting on how nifty my lights are, thanks to these bulbs! You can create scenes easily just by taking a picture. The app will then allow you to drag and drop the bulbs to match the color of the pixel in the picture you took. 10/10 would buy again.
