Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 Plaque Control, Rechargeable electric toothbrush with pressure sensor, White Mint HX6817/01
A: The reason your brushes cost $60 for an eight pack is because apparently Phillips thinks we are too stupid to monitor the wear of a toothbrush, so they put a microchip in the base of each brush head so that it can track how long it’s been used. It is not only inaccurate but irritating. If you want, you can go on the bottom of your brush head and take a tweezers and pull the microchip off and throw it away. When you do that, you will no longer get that light and you can monitor the wear of your tooth brush like a normal grown a55 person. I attached pictures, the first with the microchip, the second with microchip removed. Hope that helps three years later from the original question.
Q: How do I change the dang speed of my toothbrush. It spins so fast I can’t even brush my teeth!
A: It does take some getting used to, but the rapid vibration is what cleans your teeth. Light pressure on your teeth is better than the firm pressure you might use with a regular toothbrush. The Sonicare should have had “easy start” activated when you got it, which starts slow and increases the power over 14 brushing. If you want to reactivate this for another 14, put the handle on the plugged in charger base, press and hold the on/off button until it beeps once, then release the button. It will give a low Med high tone and lights will blink 3 times to indicate easy start is activated.
Q: How often do you have to change brush heads?
A: I change it when the bristles are worn. Apparently this toothbrush tells you when it is time to change the head.
Q: How does the pressure sensor work? Does a light go on if you brush too hard?
A: Hello! The pressure sensor will beep if the pressure is too hard on your teeth from the Philips Sonicare 4100 Protective clean.
