The Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 is hands down the best beginner DJ controller. If you're just starting out, this is the perfect choice. The price-to-feature ratio is unbeatable, and it's compatible with both Rekordbox and Serato DJ Lite. Since Pioneer is the industry standard in clubs and festivals, the layout mirrors high-end CDJs and XDJs—making the transition to pro gear seamless. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and great for house parties or even small club gigs. The frequent software updates keep it fresh, and there’s a ton of online tutorials to help you learn. The only thing I don’t love is the clicky buttons, but that’s minor. If you're thinking about it—just get it. You won’t regret it!

I’m a beginner/hobby DJ and the DDJ‑FLX4 has been the perfect controller to learn on and use for house parties. The layout feels like ‘real’ club gear, but the controls are simple and clearly labeled so it never feels intimidating. Smart Fader and Smart CFX make my transitions sound smooth even when I’m still practicing, which is a big confidence boost. I use it with Rekordbox on my laptop and it’s great that it also supports Serato and even mobile devices for flexible setups. The unit is compact and light enough to carry around, but the sound quality has been more than enough for small home parties with powered speakers. Overall, if you want an easy, fun, and affordable way to start DJing without outgrowing your gear too fast, this controller is a strong choice.

Great deck it’s a perfect size to travel with or bring on vacation with friends if you want to DJ anywhere. Also a lot of informational videos on this exact model on YouTube in order to teach yourself.

This is such a great board. We are beginners and we wanted to spice up our parties or even just a family night of cooking and dancing. It's not intimidating to use and an really great price. Simple enough for us and additional options to up our experience. Great buy!

The delivery was quick and with no issues. The product is exactly as it is on the official vendor site, no late feedback on the sound. The buttons feel is really nice. If you are a beginner and want to dive into this space for creating and mixing music then this is the right device for it. 10/10 recommended.

For a starter, this is the controller to get. As a predecessor of the ddj 400, this incorporates many new features that are beginner friendly (beat sync, smart cross fade, etc). However, these features should not be abused as it can lead to bad habits. Compact so it’s easy to travel with, but that also means that the jog wheel is small. The controller feels of high quality but compared to the flx10 and club equipment it feels like a toy. If you want to be future proof, get the flx6 with the 4 channel mixer. If you are trying to se if you like it, get this! It’s a very solid beginner controller

I like that the bus power port has been updated to USB 2.0 Type C, and that bluetooth is also incorporated. I also own a Numark Mixtrack FX Platinum, and it is a bit larger with the weighted jogwheels. It is also nice, but not as flexible on software options, with Serato and VirtualDJ only. This controller can use at least 4-5 other options, and RekordBox has come a long way. FX paddles would have been a nice addition, but they have them on the Rev3 for more of a club/scratcher layout. Buy with confidence that this controller will be one to enjoy casually, or to grow your DJ skills on.

This mixer is perfect for a beginner like me and a true pro like my partner who's teaching me as we go! Also there was a major issue with delivery (FedEx delivered without photo and outside a street gate) but Music Room customer service (Luke especially) worked with me so fast I had a new one shipped to me within the week and didn't miss out on spinning!

My son is using this and it takes a few tried here and there, but he eventually got it to work properly. There are some programs he uses to mix, but he seems to be enjoying himself with this. He not using it to do anything professionally, he just likes to do mixing with his friends. Its very casual.

Bought this as it seems to be the best starter controller that has all the standard DJ controls plus Hot Cues pad, loops, and effects. Most feel solid, some may think the entire case and some knobs are plasticy but I like that it’s light and portable and it actually feels durable. Only complaint after using it after a few months is that the tempo knob is counter intuitive, up in bpm is down on the knob, seems standard across decks but just don’t know why and

10/10, perfect beginner deck and perfect for travel.

It's summertime, my 10 yr old daughter is on break, i didn't want her just sitting around watching yt all day long. So instead I watched a lot of reviews on yt on her behalf and chose the flx4 based on reviews for beginner djs. must say, i got hooked playing around with this, too! it's been a great father/daughter activity and i'm learning something new myself. as for the controller, has a lot of the functions you would expect from an entry level controller but enough to learn how to beat mix and have fun with effects. my daughter is still learning (so am i) but it's been really fun watching her skills grow. highly recommend. btw, girl djs rule!
