This 4k got some hate but I had the MGM blu and Shout blu ray released prior and the new 4k DV from SF is better as far as details, breaking out the camo pattern, and seeing some of the facial scaring and other details better than before.

One of the best war movies ever made and a great 4K

I'm not sure Platoon has aged as well as I would have hoped. The documentary-style verisimilitude of the first hour gives way to a two-dimensional morality play straight outta Pilgrim's Progress: the simple archetypes and pulp plotting kinda override all the messy brutality and moral ambiguity. Still, it remains a signature war drama, and the 4K makes it look as good as it ever will (and pairs it with loads of excellent special features).

EXPLOSIONS AND EMOTIONS WITH RED TEARS COMBINED WITH THE WORSE OF FEARS CAPTURES THE VERY ESSENCE OF THIS WAR MOVIE, ALONG WITH THE PAINFUL TRUTH OF HOW WE ALWAYS ALWAYS REVERT TO FIGHTING EACH OTHER. A TRUE CLASSIC AND MUST SEE.

This is my 3rd Shout Factory 4K and it looks great. Like The Deer Hunter and The Magnificent Seven, Shout has done a nice looking transfer. This isnt the Oliver Stone film I would have chosen, but Natural Born Killers comes soon!

The performances from the strong cast are most convincing, each scene is shot with great care to transport the watcher back to a reality that emotes feelings of grief & great sadness. Vivid is the taste of this movie they did a pretty good job on the 4K transfer in my option

Outstanding edition! Thank you Shout Factory for this awesome edition! Platoon has never looked and sounded better. Good artwork and slipcover! Both 4K and Blu-ray look good and sound good. Special features on Blu-ray. Artwork is good throughout.
