Plunder Road - BLU-RAY

Plunder Road is a one-of-a-kind film noir beautifully shot in scope by the great cinematographer Ernest Haller (Gone with the Wind, Mildred Pierce). on a dark rainy night, five men stage a well-planned U.S. Mint train robbery and walk away with ten million in gold bullion. To throw the cops off the track, the gang split up the massive haul into three concealed truckloads and go off to three different directions hoping for a perfect getaway. No big stars, just a great cast of character-actor greats; Gene Raymond, Wayne Morris, Elisha Cook Jr., Stafford Repp and Steven Ritch. Soap opera legend Jeanne Cooper (The Young and the Restless) co-stars as Raymond's gun moll. Wonderfully directed by cult favorite, Hubert Cornfield (The Night of the Following Day).

Robert Mitchum (Out of the Past, The Night of the Hunter, The Longest Day, The Enemy Below) takes the wheel as Korean War veteran Lucas Doolin in the gripping noir-tinged crime drama, Thunder Road. Inspired by an original story written by Mitchum himself, Thunder Road follows Lucas as he returns from the war and is drawn into the family business distilling and running moonshine throughout the South. Along the way he'll face off with a by-the-book U.S. Treasury Agent (Gene Barry, The War of the Worlds, The 27th Day, TV's Burke's Law), a ruthless gangster (Jacques Aubuchon, The Silver Chalice) and his own conscious as he struggles with his younger brother's (played by Mitchum's son James Mitchum, Trackdown, Moonrunners, Hollywood Cop, In Harm's Way, Blackout) growing involvement in the dangerous trade. Arthur Ripley (The Chase, Voice in the Wind, Prisoner of Japan) directs and Mitchell Ryan (Grosse Pointe Blank, Liar Liar, Lethal Weapon), Keely Smith (Hey Boy! Hey Girl!), Trevor Bardette (The Monolith Monsters, The Deerslayer, The Westerner) and Sandra Knight (The Terror, Tower of London, Frankenstein's Daughter) round out the cast.

Paramedic Maddie (Rosamund Pike) and husband Frank (Matthew Rhys) were awakened by a panicked late-night call from their teen daughter Alice (voiced by Megan McDonnell), who'd driven off after a bitter fight with them-and had just struck a pedestrian. During their 40-minute drive to the accident site, they keep tense communication with her over how to handle the situation... which will take horrifying turns before they can arrive, in Babak Anvari's unnerving two-hander. 80 min.
