PocketBook - Verse Pro Color | 6" e-Reader | Color Screen | Text-to-Speech & Bluetooth | Audio | SMARTlight | Waterproof - 2025 - Stormy Sea

When I started looking for ereaders, I know I didn’t want a kindle because I don’t buy from Amazon, and a book felt similar being attached to a big corporation. After tons of Reddit research, I was deciding between the kobo and pocketbook. Ultimately, it seemed like pocketbook was best for Libby readers like myself. I almost exclusively use Libby to read, and this model comes with it already downloaded. It took maybe 2 minutes to get it set, logged into my library account, and reading. I chose this model particularly for its audio book feature. I have yet to use it solely because the books I’m reading right now aren’t available on audiobook, but I’m excited about it. I also liked that it was waterproof and has smart light to change the screen warmth. A few extras I didn’t expect were games (solitaire, chess, and sudoku), internet browser, and text to speech (super nice for my books that aren’t available on audiobook books, although it is a funny AI sounding voice that gets the tone of sentences wrong). I really love the size as well. There aren’t many drawbacks. One thing is I would have liked it to feel a bit sturdier in my hands compared to the kindle and considering the price. Additionally, sometimes the voice to text cuts out for some reason which is mildly annoying. Lastly, the book store is in another language! I think Dutch or Swedish maybe! The reader itself is set to English, and I haven’t found a ways to fix it, but since I mainly use Libby it’s a non issue for me. Overall worth the price and distance from Amazon. Cases are hard to find since pocketbook isn’t huge in the US, but I got a good one from Etsy. The color is a nice added features that I didn’t care too much about, but like it.
