These ES20s are massive. I upgraded from Polk T15s and decided on the ES20 as opposed to the ES15 because of a great open box deal. They were listed as "Excellent" condition and arrived exactly as described. They sound absolutely fantastic, but they are so large. I'm using them for surrounds in a 7.1 system. They're great if you have the room, but these would be better suited as front or rear speakers due to their size. If you're looking for surrounds and debating ES15s or ES20s, go for the ES15s unless you get a deal and have the space. The included photo is a T15 on top of the ES20 for comparison.

The Polk book shelf speakers are rich sounding speakers. The bass is nice and punchy at high volume levels. Pleasantly surprised that the speakers paired very well with my 1990 Technics receiver. Great sounding speakers that won’t break the bank.

Bought these from the the positive things I hear online about them, and boy all the talk is true. Great soundstage, the presentation with the design is elegant they look good with the mesh but even better when you remove the messh in the front. Cant beat these Punchy sound, Loud and balanced sound get them they are worth every penny.

I have been a user of Polk Audio speakers since the mid 80's. I am also a professional musician, and anything that colors or takes away from what instruments really sound like bugs the crap out of me. Polk gets it right, and the ES20's are no exception to the rule. For a mid-sized bookshelf speaker they sound and look great. The only thing lacking is the lowest octave, which you're not going to get from this size of a bookshelf speaker, but pairing them with a good subwoofer would make it perfect. Polk sounds so much better for the money than almost any other company's speakers.

I like the speakers. Have so much punch if you like the bass, In a small room you don’t need anything else. Active speaker cables and a good receiver and you will feel the magic.

Needs a center channel, but overall perfect bookshelf speaker's, doesnt require a sub. Polk did an amazing job like always.

Probably my room acoustics, but these gave me a headache after about 15 minutes of listening. No matter where I moved them, close to wall, out from wall, toe-in, toe-out, I couldn't get them to work for me. The were a good price, and nice-looking, but had to return them.

I had bought these along with the Polk XT20 to compare them and see which I liked better. I powered them using a Denon AVR-760h to watch movies and listen to music. I have a 2.0 configuration (for now). I felt these were better than the XT20's because they sound more natural and warm. They both have good sound in mids and lows but the ES20s sounded cleaner and more refined. I am not sure if it is the power port. The XT20s have good clarity, but I feel the sounds don't blend as well together. Overall I would say the ES20 definitely edges out the XT20s but they should since they cost more. The XT20s aren't terrible by any means and at the sale price of $225 I think they are a great deal, but if you do not mind the price jump then its a no brainer in my opinion to opt for the ES20s over the XT20s. I think the Signature Elite series of speakers from Polk look much nicer than the XT series, but to each their own. The wood finish on the elite series is nice, although the front cover is plastic. I will most likely add the ES30/ES35 center channel and the ES55/ES70 floorstanding speakers in the future.
