I have another product that I use for blending and chopping. but I wanted something to shred and thinly slice vegetables. This does that very well. I have used 2 of the blades so far and they both work. For Thanksgiving I used this Salad Shooter for slicing large quantities of carrots and onions. It produces very thin uniform slices, which is what I wanted. It does take time and effort, though. I had to frequently stop, shake the slicer, use a spatula to scoop out the vegetables and re-start. It often vibrates and makes a loud noise when pushing the veggies through. Another down side: since the first use shredding carrots, the inside of the unit is now orange.

Even if you only buy this to slice onions, cucumbers and potatoes, you're ahead! But it does so much more. Grating cheese, potatoes, carrots, yams, parsnips -you name it.
