A: So far I’ve been using distilled water, so haven’t found the need to clean it. Definitely have not seen any sign of mildew/mold yet which is why I have been choosing to use distilled water. Once every two weeks I like to empty it, dry it off with a paper towel and lay it apart to let it air dry, just as a precautionary measure for cleanliness. But very easy to use and highly recommend
