About this product
Go to the Mardi Gras by Professor Longhair is where it all begins. My brother Jeffrey, a drummer, and I would sit in with the Nat Krasnoff Trio on Mardi Gras ball gigs. The trio featured my InchParrain NatInch on accordion, Rick Denson (aka InchThe Witch DoctorInch) on bass, and my dad Phil Despommier on drums. On the bandstand, I learned tunes like this one by ear, as well as how to start a second line on the horn. After leaving New Orleans to attend New England Conservatory in 2007, I lost touch with the rhythms of the city in search of new sounds. But when I stepped into Marigny Studios in New Orleans in the spring of 2024, joined by the torchbearers of this music-David Torkanowsky, James Singleton, and Johnny Vidacovich, all featured on this album-the music from those halcyon days came back to me. Album Tracks 1. Go to the Mardi Gras 2. Southern Nights 3. 'Round 3Am (A Blues Nocturne) 4. Si Tu Vois Ma Mère 5. Jelly Roll's Living Room 6. Goodbye Pork Pie Hat 7. Dying to Live 8. Blues Rheumatica 9. Just a Closer Walk with Thee

Alto saxophonist Randal Despommier offers with A Midsummer Odyssey, a captivating duo session with guitarist extraordinaire Ben Monder. The central focus is the highly accessible yet always enigmatic music of Swedish baritone saxophonist Lars Gullin (1928-1976). // It was a chance encounter with InchDanny's Dream,Inch a lithe and melodic piece played for Despommier by his friend Olof Lövmo in Italy in 2005, that sparked the altoist's deep and longstanding interest in Gullin. Despommier describes the tune as Incha mix between a Norse folk-song arrangement by Edvard Grieg and a Billy Strayhorn ballad.Inch Having triggered the process that would ultimately lead to A Midsummer Odyssey, Lövmo fittingly took on the role of assistant producer. Album Tracks 1. Toka Voka Oka Boka 2. Igloo 3. Danny's Dream 4. BBC Blues 5. Mazurka 6. Dyningar 7. Silhouette 8. I Min Smala SÄNG 9. I Hope It's Spring for You

![Randy Ingram - The Means Of Response - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/547f7167-ccf1-4c22-bd0b-90e9509507eb.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
A chance to host The Musicians' Show on Columbia University's WKCR made Ingram decide to explore jazz's use as a protest music. The music that he leaned toward was not overtly or loudly political, it did not catch the listener by force and volume. It tended to use subtle communication through the music. Herbie Hancock's InchThe PrisonerInch and Milton Nascimento's InchFairy Tale SongInch were perfect examples of artists thoughtfully utilizing their craft to generate nuanced and affecting messages. Album Tracks 1. The Means of Response 2. Like Flight 3. Introduction to Shokunin 4. Shokunin 5. It Won't End This Way 6. Monday Music 7. Introduction to Spin 8. Spin 9. Sleep Little Clark 10. The Mountain 11. (If You Want It)
