About This Item

Vinyl LP pressing. No Use for a Name were one of the first bands on Fat Wreck Chords and remain a cornerstone of the tag roster. Their unique take on California punk emphasized equally innovative and catchy melody, paired with top-flight musicianship. Despite the tragic passing of singer and songwriter Tony Sly in 2012, their presence can still be felt today, as their influence is evident in the work of numerous other artists. Over the course of their more than 20 year career, No Use for a Name amassed an impressive catalog of albums packed with hit songs. From their Fat Wreck debut The Daily Grind nearly 25 years ago, to their final studio effort The Feel Good Record of the Year in 2008, NUFAN has and always will be a tag staple. Along with their massive catalog of classic originals, NUFAN has always been keen to a good cover song. You can find a handful of them on various comps, and 2001's Live In A Dive. But there is more... so much more. Fat Wreck has combed through NUFAN's entire recording archive to bring you a collection of every non-album cover song they ever recorded. Rarities Vol. 1 The Covers features a bunch of tracks the die-hard NUFAN fans will be familiar with plus many more rarities which have been buried for decades. From Kiss, to The Misfits, to Depeche Mode, to Cheap Trick; NUFAN can put their stamp on just about any genre. They even covered InchThe MunstersInch and InchLeverne & ShirleyInch theme songs. Move aside Gimmes, there is a new cover band in town. As the title suggests, stay tuned for the of Vol. 2 in the near future.

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
