Rexing - Universal OBD II Scanner & Engine Code Reader for 1996+ Vehicles - Black

I received the new Rexing Universal OBD II Scanner a week ago and was anxious to try it out on my Toyota Prius V. Refer to your car's owner manual to locate the OBD port. Plug it in, and it's ready to read your diagnostic codes. The user interface is good, though it has a learning curve for locating a specific test. The screen quality is very good and easy to read. I'm not a mechanic, but this helped me locate a problem with my car. Over the past month, the 12-volt battery was draining quickly, and I couldn't figure out what was running after the car was shut off. I took it to my local Toyota dealer, who ran their tests and unplugged several wires from the fuse box. Suspected my dash cam. It ran fine for a couple of days, but was dead in 48 hours again. So I returned to Toyota for more diagnostics. They couldn't find anything else wrong. I would charge up the battery, drive a day, and then it would be dead again. Thankfully, the Rexing OBD arrived, so I tried it. Guess what? The diagnostics reported a weak battery. I returned to Toyota and asked to have the battery replaced. Everything is working great now. Toyota reimbursed me for the previous visits. Thank you, Rexing.

I already own a more expensive BlueDriver Pro scanner and use it regularly. Most of the time it stays in our RV since that's the vehicle most likely to throw a check engine light. I bought this Rexing scanner to keep in our truck for those times we're away from home and don't have reliable internet access. What I've come to appreciate most is that this scanner has its own built-in display. Unlike Bluetooth scanners that require pairing with a phone and opening an app, I can simply plug it into the OBD II port and immediately read the codes. It's fast, convenient, and doesn't depend on my phone or a data connection. The BlueDriver provides more detailed diagnostics and additional information, so if I need to do in-depth troubleshooting, it's still my go-to tool. But in the field, that's usually not what I'm looking for. Most of the time I simply want to know what code was triggered and what it means so I can decide whether it's safe to continue driving or if the vehicle needs immediate attention. This scanner does that very well. I'm honestly surprised by how much I enjoy using this little tool. Having a dedicated screen turns out to be more convenient than pairing my phone to a Bluetooth OBD II device every time I need to read a code. It's simple, reliable, and exactly the kind of tool I like to keep in the glove box for peace of mind. If you're looking for an affordable code reader that quickly identifies engine codes without the hassle of using your phone and downloading an app, this is an excellent choice.

This product has paid for itself just after the first use only. I had my check engine light come on and every mechanic near me wanted at least $100 just to read the code. I bought this to see if it would read it for me and it did, I was already saving. It read the code without issue, it was a small EVAP leak, read online about it and got a new gas cap. I erased the code with this scanner and it has not come back at all. So this thing has saved me a bunch already and now will use it in the future to see what code pops up so I know what is wrong before I bring it in for service so I know they are not trying to do work that does not need to be done. I also read the manual and tried out the other functions, the battery voltage works fine, that will come in handy in the winter for sure. Also, I like how it has a code dictionary on it as well, so that way I can at least look it up without having to pull out my cellphone. The screen is easy to read and bright. I also like the Live Data option, it lets you see a ton of stats. Overall I am very happy with this and would for sure recommend it.

This Rexing scanner works incredibly well for basic diagnoses. The tool is very user friendly, not at all hard to navigate, pretty generous screen for those who prefer cleaner visual, and a big plus not needing some additional application to make it work. Would definitely recommend for this price. Tool does all the basics that satisfy my needs

I'm not a mechanic by any means, so I was always using an elm327. However that unit required you to have an app to connect to in order to diagnose the car. Most apps were paid for if you wanted all the features as well. Then Rexing came along with this unit, which has it's own built in screen and renders the elm, for my purposes, pointless. Aside from being able to view the check engine light codes (and clearing them), you're able to see realtime live data as well (usually a paid for feature in apps. This unit also supports many other features I've no idea how to use yet, but I like that they're there, IF it came to me NEEDing to utilize them. Screen is ample large and bright enough, as well as the layout is intuitive and simple. If I were to change ONE thing, that would be to make the cable longer. It's got a good length now, but different vehicles put the OBD2 port in different locations, and that extra foot or two of cable would definitely help. Overall a solid product.
