It requires a cigarette outlet for power. Many of these car camera systems do, which is weird because it does not work with many newer cars.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. Most vehicles still make use of the cigarette lighter port as the primary way of powering vehicle accessories but some newer vehicles do not. In such cases, we suggest making use of one of our alternative power mechanisms such as the hardwire kit or OBD kit (sold separately). I have had this cam for over 4 years and the only issue I have with it stems from being just barely able to use it accurately, I am not good at technology.
I would recommend this to a friend
