Not what I expected...
I purchased the Ring Door Bell Pro at Christmas time and have grown to love it. So I thought I'd give this a try before buying more for the perimeter of my house. The ease of setup is yet again a solid 5 out of 5, the picture quality is a decent 4 out of 5, the delay time it takes to view the video feed is a 2 out of 5 and the siren is a sad 0 out of 5. I was excited to see that Ring came out with a POE option for security cameras. I had previously setup my home with CAT6 wiring for a different camera system before Ring came out with the elite option. The Ring Elite Cam was going to be more expensive than the NVR system I had planned to purchase, but I liked the fact that it would work cohesively with my Ring Door Bell Pro. I tried 3 of my CAT6 cables with the Ring Elite Cam and the time it took to view the camera from my iPhone Ring App was 8-9 seconds on a 150mbs download speed, which is substantially slower than my door bell which is on Wifi at 90mbs download speed. I thought for sure having the camera hard wired would have a faster response. I didn't expect to be impressed by the alarm on the camera, but I did expect a much faster response time that 8 or 9 seconds. The system I ended up going with, which is less expensive in the long run with 8 cameras, has a 1-3 second response time on each camera. I might try the 2nd or 3rd version of the Ring Elite camera for my guest house, but for now it just isn't up to the standards I was hoping to find so I returned it.

Works great. Easy to set up
Camera works great. Has really good image quality and has a very long distance at night, unlike previous cameras I've had that couldn't see more than a few feet in front of them. I already had Ethernet cables running outside my house from previous cameras so this was plug n play, and worked immediately out of the box. A little pricey considering the lower model is half the price and is just missing the PoE, but didn't want to run new types of cables and they are too high up for charging batteries.

Really good camera
This is a really good camera but I wouldn’t say a great camera. The resolution is fine as long as you don’t need to zoom in because it drops off pretty quickly. I have this on the overhang above my drive way and you cannot zoom in to say, read the license plate on my car so I don’t know how good it would be to identify someone. The online service is not too pricey and it’s pretty good but it does take a minute or two for the most recent video to be available, but that could have something to do with my less than stellar upload speeds from my internet provider. Otherwise I’m pretty happy with this service. I also have ring doorbell cams on my front and back doors and they’re at about the same quality and same service. It’s pretty easy to install but remember with the elite camera you must run an Ethernet cable to it to supply power from the PoE adapter. It’s a good system for those who don’t want to pay a large sum of money for a professionally installed system.

So easy to use
For quick and easy surveillance, these are great. Being able to power them over ethernet was great. Just get a POE switch and hook up as many as you need. They are much more stable than wireless, and you don't have to worry about battery or running power.
