What a great idea. Threaded uprights make it easy to space shelves. however you want them. Excellent construction. Shelves are also very sturdy. Get the shelves where you want them, use a level to make sure they're straight and away you go. WARNING: this thing is so solid that the UPS guy who delivered it warned me: the weight is 56 pounds!

The Salamander Archetype looks decent for a rack composed of sturdy MDF shelves, threaded metal legs, bolts, and washers. Shelves seem well isolated and support my heavy equipment without issue. Would recommend to anyone who needs the ability to customize the space between shelves and can't find a rack with suitable clearance for their equipment. Unfortunately, not everything was entirely rosy with my experience. Construction felt tedious because the time it took spinning bolts down the threaded legs to secure shelves. Leveling the shelves was a chore, but that is the price of having the freedom of adjustable height with this style of construction. Those gripes aside, I did have a few things that gave me pause about potential quality control issues the manufacturer may have. When I opened the box to begin assembly, all the bolts and washers were not in a bag but just loose in the box and could have potentially damaged the shelf surfaces -- luckily, my shelves suffered no damage. Furthermore, while they did provide an extra couple of washers and bolts, there was one bolt that would not thread smoothly onto the legs and one washer that was bent. It's best when you don't need the spares, and I would have been up a creek if it had been two bent washers or two defective bolts.

hi, i bought this stand for my Audio Stand, Perfect for my Audio Need, the Bottom Hold my 7 channel Power Amp. which is almost 100 Ibs. , my Receiver, Cable Box and on the Top is my Turntable. very nice and stardy stand. i will recommend this who has a audio like mine....

The salamander stand is excellent. I don't know of any other stand like this. And I researched plenty of stands before purchasing the salamander. This is one versatile stand. Very sturdy, the ability to adjust the shelves. And it looks pretty sharp. I highly recommend the salamander stand.

Everything is excellent about this other than the rubber feet. It is EXTREMELY well built. Sturdy and made of quality materials. The one exception is the rubberized feet. They tear/rip easily. I had to purchase wheels from Salamander off of Crutchfield for $50.00. If you are the type of person that puts things in one place and leaves it, you wont have an issue, but if you're like me, I move my equipment around as I like to swap out my gear. This may not be for you. Or it couls be, I just suggest getting the wheel kit off Crutchfield.

I purchased this audio rack because it’s simple looking yet elegant at the same time. Easy to assemble and it’s very sturdy too. It’s holding my Yamaha MX-A5000 11 channel power amplifier, Marantz AV8805A pre/pro, Oppo UDP-205 4k player, Technics 1200 turntable and an Onkyo double cassette deck. Worth every penny and I highly recommend it.

I was in the market for an audio equipment stand and narrowed my choice between the Salamander Designs Archetype and Pangea Vulcan. When checking vendors for pricing and availabilty, I hapened to see the Salamander A3 on the Best Buy site 20% less than everyone else, but the Best Buy item description wasn't accurate (said it was a TV stand). After confirming the item was indeed the audio stand as pictured on the Best Buy site, I ordered it and received it about a week later. I'm very pleased with the construction (claimed to be made in USA), ease of assembly, aesthetics of the unit, not to mention the price through Best Buy.

I needed a 4 shelf audio rack for my dedicated 2 channel system. I love the look of the salamander archetype shelving system and purchased on looks alone. Make sure you set aside a good hour for setup as threading everything down and getting it level takes some effort. If you are setting up on carpet i suggest springing for the spikes as mine was rather unstable with just the rubber feet.

Wonderful versatility shelf cabinet. It fit new receiver, speaker, blue Ray player, cable box & record player. Also its shelf’s heights are totally adjustable. Plus we still have 1 shelf left…

I have 4 of these racks with a add on drawer , back panel to conceal wires and extra shelf in each unit . It is an audio component eqt. Must . Allows for ventilation, adjustable for when ur system changes , and looks nice . Unlike most audio racking systems that look cheap, cheesy in a room and worn out this one is well built and longlasting

Wanted a stand in the corner of our family room for a receiver and game consoles that would be used to connect to TV over the fire place. worked out very well, was able to adjust shelf height as needed. Had other Salamander Designs AV furniture and the products are very well made.

Just what I was looking for, a sturdy audio rack that looks good and does't take up a lot of space. Took less than an hour to assemble.

Holds are my audio equipment in style. The included level is a must. The overall construction of the wood and metal is sturdy and should last many many years.

Easy to assemble and sturdy. However there was a weird smell, probably from the paint, that stuck around for days. I would recommend airing it out somewhere before putting it in your house.

Stand was easy to setup and setup is flexible and can change singe shelves as needed. Very Stable for Turntable too.

When it comes to HIFI, a large portion of it is aesthetics. This rack is perfect for most systems under 15k. You have enough shelves for an entire system. I personally use my shelves as follows. Power Filter, Integrated amp, Network audio streamer, CD player, Turntable. Nice and neat and very modern looking. Takes a bit to put together, and leveling can be a hassle. but is worth it.

I love this stand. It’s a pain to balance the shelving, but is stable and rugged and modern. Cord management could be an issue, but you can also use the shelving for purposes other than audio/video equipment.
