  • Key Specs
    • Storage Capacity: 500 gigabytes (Measured in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB) and terabytes (TB), this is the amount available for storing files, music, movies, photos and more. The total includes the capacity of the hard disk drive and solid state drive if both are included on the computer.)
    • Storage Drive Type: SSD (Traditional, mechanical hard disk drives are the most common type of storage because they're relatively inexpensive and offer huge capacities. However, they also generate both noise and heat. Solid state drives, also known as SSDs, are many times faster than hard disk drives and have no moving parts to wear out, but typically offer less capacity for the same price.)
    • Maximum Read Speed: 3500 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can read information; for example, opening files.)
    • Maximum Write Speed: 3300 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can write information; for example, saving files.)
    • Form Factor: M.2 2280
    • Interface(s): PCIe Gen 3 x4 (Refers to the types of connections that devices use to interact and communicate with each other.)

    • SSD Endurance: 300 terabytes (The total amount of data that the solid-state drive (SSD) is able to write before it wears out, as specified by the manufacturer. Endurance is limited because the flash on a SSD has a finite number of cycles that it can complete.)
    • Heatsink: false (Dissipates heat during intense operation for sustained peak performance.)

    • Cache Buffer Size: 512 megabytes (The data capacity of the cache buffer (or disk buffer) that acts as temporary memory for the drive. The cache holds the most recently and frequently used data to save the drive the extra step of pulling it from permanent storage every time it's needed, which helps increase the drive's overall speed.)
    • NAND Flash Memory Type: MLC (Single Level Cell (SLC) stores 1 bit of data per memory cell; Multi Level Cell (MLC) stores 2 bits per cell, Triple Level Cell (TLC) 3 bits, and Quad Level Cell (QLC) 4 bits. Vertical NAND (V-NAND) or 3D NAND stores more data by layering cells vertically. Similarly, there are 3D MLC, 3D TLC and 3D QLC stacked cells.)

Q: Will this Samsung-970 EVO work on a Dell XPS8920 PC?

A: According to the manual for your system at https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/xps-8920-desktop_service-manual_en-us.pdf -- Yes. page 13 of the manual shows a slot for an M.2 SSD.

Q: will this work with a MacBook pro A1502 mid 2014

A: Yes, but only with an adapter. MacBook’s use a proprietary SSD connector and in order to use this drive you will need to grab an adapter for it. I couldn’t find one on Best Buy but you can find one by Googling: NVMe MacBook adapter. Sintech makes a popular adapter.

Q: Does this SSD have a DRAM cache?

A: Yes, 512MB on the 250 & 512 GB drives and 1GB on the 1 & 2 TB.

Q: What is the best hard drive for a 2014 mini Mac ? Or at least a good one that’s compatible

A: I upgraded a Mac mini 2014 I had to the Samsung 850 EVO SATA III. Worked perfectly, no issues at all. Fairly easy upgrade too, get a kit from iFixit.

Q: Is this compatible with Lenovo Thinkpad L380 laptop.

A: Yes, this is compatible with the Thinkpad L380. You will be fine.

Q: is this the correct SSD for HP Omen 877-244

A: Yes, your motherboard has a M.2 socket.

Q: Will this work with Dell Inspiron 7415 2 in 1 laptop?

A: It will support 1 of these drives only. The actual spec says 1 2230/2280 m.2 drive. If this is for upgrade it should be fine.

Q: I currently have a 970 EVO installed in one of my two M.2 slots. Will I run into compatibility issues if I install this 970 EVO "Plus" in the second slot?

A: From what I have read, it may depend in your current configuration, depends in what kind of processor and motherboard you have. You must look for your motherboard documentation. It should not give you a compatibility problem, but it may slow down your graphic card or disable some of you SATA ports because PCIe ports share bandwidth or something like that. But to be sure you have to look for your PC or motherboard documentation.
