I tried to register this phone with Samsung and they told me: Possible reasons for the error include serial/IMEI number is not valid, product is older than 3 years, product was purchased outside the U.S. I purchased the product in the US and it was released 1 year ago. I don't know if Samsung is the problem or BestBuy. When you try to write BestBuy they make it extremely difficult to get answers to questions like this. The phone seems good so far but the User Manual does NOT tell you where the SD Card goes (pic or written) but it does for everything else.

Phone appears to be nice and functioning as expected. However, you cannot register this phone on Samsung US website - meaning no US warranty.
