The Watch9 is nice, with lots of helpful biometric measures like steps, oxygen saturation, heart rate, etc. The LTE model means I can get calls and texts without having my smartphone with me. The battery lasts a full day. You do need to make sure you get the LTE version AND actually activate the mobile phone plan with your cell provider (after you get the Watch9 set up). All the initial configuration starts in the Samsung WEAR app. My provider charges about $10 extra per month for the LTE/mobile phone feature to work on the watch. Without LTE activation, calls and texts will still ring through to your Watch9 as long as your smartphone is nearby, like in your pocket or purse. I do recommend buying the LTE version and going through the activation with your cell provider if you're able to afford the monthly expense. I really like being able to leave my smartphone behind (or knowing I can ring my phone from my Watch9 when I inevitably misplace it). I recently upgraded from the Watch8 to the Watch9 because I wanted to activate my old Watch8 as a standalone phone for my tween. Either the Watch8 or Watch9 is good for the tween stage when a kid might need calling, texting and GPS, but a full-sized smartphone feels like overkill. Family and friends can call my tween's Galaxy Watch and it's right there on his wrist. So yes!, if you were wondering whether the Galaxy Watch has the technical capability to be locked down with parental controls for a child, it absolutely does, using Google Family Link. You gotta have plenty of patience to get it set up initially though. The parent/child set up wil require usernames & passwords to be set up as family groups for BOTH Samsung and Google/Family Link (that's 4 different users plus setting up two different family groups). One note of caution: make sure the child's demographic information matches exactly between the Samsung and Google Family group accounts (no nicknames, no date-of-birth discrepancy, exact match only). It was a mess trying to work out a small DOB discrepancy on my child's accounts between Samsung, Google and Verizon. Trust me, you absolutely do not want to troubleshoot between these three big corporations. It was a total nightmare, and I almost gave up and returned the the new Watch9. There were also technical hoops involved in unregistering the old Watch8 from my name in both Samsung and Google that seemed to be hanging up the process of activating the Watch8 for my child as a "standalone" watch phone. I had no notable issues activating & configuring my own adult plan. It was incredibly annoying and time-consuming getting passed around between Verizon, Google and Samsung for the tween's watch. Anyway! That's over now, and it's all set up as a "standalone" watch phone. Whew. I'm hesitant to fully recommend it simply because it took so much time to do. The Watch8 and Watch9 look identical in size to me, and both use the same size bands. Both are the smaller 40mm size which feels like the right size for both a tween wrist and a petite female wrist. It's customizable enough that it doesn't look babyish like many watches on the market for kids. I customized my tween boy's watch to look like a totally different watch from mine by simply swapping the band, protective cover and watch face. (See picture). Between the Watch8 and Watch9, I honestly haven't noticed much difference in performance or features. Maybe the Watch9 has slightly longer battery life or a tad more responsive but both basically last the day and then need a charge in the evening (~45 mins). Personally, I probably wouldn't have bothered upgrading to Watch9 if I hadn't wanted the Watch8 for my tween. I will say, however, if you have a Watch6, the Watch8 and Watch9 will be a massive improvement in battery life. I had previously activated an older Galaxy Watch6 LTE for my tween as a standalone phone line with parental controls. It worked, except the battery life on the Watch6 is just miserable. We only trusted it to hold a charge for a few hours. The watch6 was basically an emergency use only LTE Watch. The Watch6 had GPS, Google Maps, text too, but using any of it drained the battery quickly. We definitely didn't bother to add music app or anything like that. One last thing: the blood pressure feature on the Watch9 (and Watch8) is pretty cutting edge cool. However, it requires initial calibration and then recalibration monthly. Remembering to keep up with that every 28 days has proven a little too cumbersome for me personally.

I'm coming from a Galaxy Watch 7 and I'm totally loving the new Galaxy Watch 9. I'm really digging the 40mm case diameter, 20mm lug width, black stainless steel case, and how thin and light it is. All those things are enough for me to fall for this watch. It's perfect for international travel, especially with a few different straps. I can run in the morning with a silicone band, explore the city with a sailcloth strap, and go out for fine dining with a leather strap. It all works perfectly with the black satin case. Case is thin enough to hide in the blazer

I have been a Samsung user for years. My first watch was the Galaxy Classic 6. There were many improvements I wished it had, and finally able to upgrade, I found all I was looking for and more. Samsung Health is top tier, and all my apps work seamlessly. The watch has a nice, large, bright display and easy-to-control functions that are both integrated and simple. I highly recommend the Galaxy Watch 9.

Awesome watch! I’m very happy with the Galaxy Watch 9. The screen is bright, clear, and easy to read, even at a quick glance. The watch also responds very quickly, with smooth navigation and apps opening without noticeable delays. The overall design and functionality make it a great everyday smartwatch.

I upgraded to this model from a watch 6 and there's just so much new from a health monitoring standpoint that I couldn't get before. At first the battery life seemed like it was lower than the 6, but now after turning off some of the extra power guzzling options, I get more than two days of life which is also a big upgrade.

I absolutely love this Galaxy Watch9! It looks great, works smoothly, and has all the features I need for everyday use. The battery life, performance, and overall design are excellent. Definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made I highly recommend it!

More of the same; the blood pressure monitoring feature is great—like something brand new—but it has to be charged daily. I don't see any improvement compared to the Series 7 watch.

Battery life is amazing, charge pretty quick, the health app are more accurate, performance is way better

I was so excited about this watch finally upgraded from the 7. Love all the features but it charges so slow. I have the samsung dual charger and the band keeps it from laying flat to charge. So there have a been a few times where it connects and disconnects while charging. I have even used the watch charger it came with and it still charges slow and seems to overheat. Still on the fence if i will be returning it.

Hoping the battery wohld last longer, good tracking on breathing and sleep.

Needless to say this was a huge upgrade from the Galaxy Watch 5 that I traded in. The screen resolution and brightness are incredible. Even being able to adjust font size is extremely helpful. The health related features are outstanding! The only downside thus far has been the charging. The charger button supplied with the watch is fine, but none of the other chargers and charging stations I have are compatible. (Says so right on the watch) it seems unfair that the multiple chargers I have now are trash. I purchased an extra third party button charger that said it was compatible with Watch 9, but it does not fast charge like the one that came with the unit.

This watch is actually more comfortable when you wear it compared to the 8th edition. The previous one had some slight discomfort after a certain amount of time of wearing during the day. This model feels more snug and works a lot faster when using it. Love it for exercising too.

I like the size and shape of the watch. An improvement over the watch 7, from which I upgraded. The band is comfortable, and I can now take blood pressure, to go with the oxygen sensor.

It is comfortable on my wrist. However i wish the wrist band was longer. I had to order one.

Upgraded from the 8 to the 9, it's ok. Not much of an improvement. It charges a lot slower and seems to drain battery faster. Also the step tracker on the main face doesn't track, but the apps are still tracking, so extra steps for something that used to be right there. On the plus side the watch is more comfortable in my opinion, though you're likely to need a better wrist strap as the one it comes with is very small.

Had very long lasting battery life so far, looks and feels very nice.

I did get a new band because im not a big fan of the silicone bands. It works freat, my only complaint would be battery life, i dknt keep ot on power saving mlde, so the battery lasts about 24 hours, which i k ow my watch 6 would outdo easily by a day or 2. Great features, stylish and a little big for the charger, ktherwise, solid purchase.
