I had a Q-series 3.1.2 soundbar before this that I paired with separately sold rear speakers for a total of 5.1.4. That system was good, but there was some minor distortion at higher volumes during action sequences. Overall, that system was good, but this Q-990D system is excellent. No perceived distortion at higher levels, and it gets very loud. The sound fills a large living room extremely well. But it’s just about volume. The sound quality is superb, and that’s what I care most about. I would rather have quality over volume, if I have to pick one over the other. This sound system excels in both areas. With my Q990D paired with my 77” Samsung OLED tv, I really don’t see a reason to go to a theatre. Q-symphony really does work well. When you switch between the Q-symphony and Q-series soundbar options, there is a very big difference in sound. The Q-symphony setting makes this soundbar sound even better. It really does make a big difference. I scored this soundbar for only $900 about 6 weeks ago on a member deal that Best Buy was offering. Its performance is well above that $900 mark, and even at the current $1499 price tag, if that price is within your budget, I really believe it is worth the price. This soundbar consistently ranks at the top of best soundbar lists. If you buy this system, you will not be disappointed.

We switched from an LG SN7R after it started having issues and we picked this up for a great Black Friday deal. We don't have a Samsung TV so we aren't using the Qsymphony features, but I don't feel like we are missing out on anything! This unit gets plenty loud for our large open concept space, but is clear enough to hear everything. 2 notes, 1 it's bigger, so if you have a low profile TV stand that squats, you might need to lift it or raise it as this soundbar is a thicc boi. Other note, the rear speakers are completely wireless and bigger so need to ensure they will fit where you want them to go and that you have individual power connection for each one (not a wireless receiver tying the 2 rears together like the LG) Overall we love it, it sounds great and it gets plenty loud, now just need to find some new mounting solutions for the rears. The sound bar is exceptional, voice clarity, bass for days , surround sounds is amazingly works , sound for pro option that actually works , it test yours peace and give you the best surround system fit for your space , just one thing don’t put the group voice If you don’t have a lot of people listening cause if are watching by ur self or with one person it’s gonna get loud all the sudden and it will startle to you

I recently purchased this soundbar, and I’ve been blown away by the quality. The sound is crisp, immersive, and the ease of use is fantastic. When paired with my 65” Samsung S95F TV using Q-Symphony, it’s truly spectacular, like a home theater. I honestly don’t think you’ll find much better in this category. It’s well-priced, and I’d absolutely buy it again without hesitation.

Inredible sound. The sound bounces of the walls and it sounds as if its coming from right behind me. I wish it would come with 2 subwoofers though, but its a pretty good one. At about 50% I have to take some stuff off my shelves because my walls literally shake so much that I have things falling off my shelves. Something I wish it had would be like a categorical way to choose audio. Or at least a way to save equalizer settings and create your own. Regardless its definitely top of its class.

I recently picked up the Samsung HW-Q990D 11.1.4 Channel Soundbar and honestly, it’s one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my home setup. The sound quality is incredible. It really feels like you’re surrounded by audio, especially when watching movies with Dolby Atmos. Explosions, background effects, and even small details come through super clearly, and the rear speakers make a huge difference. It actually feels like a mini theater in your living room. Reviews also highlight how immersive and detailed the sound is, with clear dialogue even during intense scenes . The bass from the subwoofer hits hard but isn’t overwhelming, which I like. It adds depth without drowning everything else out. Music sounds great too—not just movies—so it’s pretty versatile. Setup was easier than I expected. Everything connects wirelessly, and once it’s up and running, it just works. If you have a Samsung TV, the Q-Symphony feature is a nice bonus because it syncs the TV speakers with the soundbar. Only downside is the price—it’s definitely on the expensive side—but you’re getting a full surround sound system without having to deal with a bunch of wires or complicated installs. Overall, if you’re looking for a premium soundbar that delivers a true cinematic experience at home, this one is 100% worth it.

I’ve been blown away by the Q990D. At first, I had some trial and error with the equalizer and getting the right levels for my living room. But once I dialed it in, the experience completely changed. The sound quality is insane. The upfiring speakers are so realistic that during one show, when the characters’ upstairs neighbors were stomping around, I genuinely thought it was my upstairs neighbors making noise. The bass hits hard and fills the room without overwhelming the mids and highs. Together, it creates a true 360-degree surround effect that makes movies and shows feel completely immersive. If you want a home theater experience that feels alive, this soundbar delivers.

I did A LOT of research and this is exactly what I was looking for! My primary goal was to find a sound bar, surround sound system that would still sound great with music. This was a challenge because I was replacing a Denon 5 channel surround system with WIRED Klipsch horn style speakers. I’m extremely happy to report that this system with the front side speakers works amazing for that! With all the options to modify the sound through the phone app, you can create crystal clear music and use the virtual mode which makes it sound like a live concert. With the base enhance settings and subwoofer, the sound is really big and full. And music sounds great at quiet volume and surprisingly really loud as well. As for TV and movies, the new novel feature for this system is that you can move the wireless side speakers behind you and switch to rear surround mode. I mounted the speakers on some sleek stands, so It’s easy for me to just unplug them from the power outlet and move them behind me for big blockbuster action movies when the rear sound really matters. For regular TV and most shows, I just keep them in the front position and use front surround. Note: the subwoofer is also wireless, which gives you a lot of flexibility on where you put it. Set up is simple with just a power cord and ARC HDMI or Regular HDMI cord. I guess you can also use the sound bar as a HDMI bridge to connect other devices easily, however, I haven’t done that. As for the wireless connection to the side speakers and subwoofer, they all synced up on my first try. Note: the side speakers are dedicated right and left because they produce sound out of two sides and the top. The only criticism I have is that the remote functionality is limited compared to the app on your phone, but this is kind of a non-issue as the phone app works seamlessly! Definitely worth the extra money!

The Q-990D is an overall an amazing surround sound system. You definitely feel like you are at the best top notch movie theater around. The sound is incredibe. The bass is insane. It had my windows rattling some not even at full volume. If you are looking for a surround sound system with bass this is it. Definitely purchase and look no further. You will not be disappointed. Was very easy to set up. The back speakers do plug into an outlet but no speaker wire needed. Use bluetooth. They can be mounted also. Product is solid so you know it is worth it's value. I'm so very happy with my purchase. You will be as well. This is a game changer for your television/ household. It is a must have. Again you will not regreat it. I’m really happy with this soundbar so far. I’ve only watched Avatar: The Way of Water on it, but wow….. the sound is incredible! The larger subwoofer makes a huge difference and gives everything so much depth without being too heavy. You can actually feel the sound move around the room, and it really pulls you into the movie. I did need to adjust a few of the channel settings to get it just right for my space, but once I did, everything came together perfectly. Dialogue is super clear, the effects are detailed, and it just feels balanced and powerful overall. This setup genuinely makes my living room feel like a mini theater. Definitely one of my favorite upgrades I’ve made.

I upgraded from the Q80R 5.1 Channels (2019) and was amazed at the incredible difference. Family and friends always enjoyed the 80R but from the 1st time I listened to 990D at Best Buy I knew that I had to get. Same family and friend were stunned at the quality sound that this 11.1.4 channel system pumps out and it's not just power, it's the quality.

I bought the HW-Q930D and ended up returning it because the subwoofer didn't have enough bass that you could feel when watching movies. These have been movies with explosions in them, music, and other action scenes that worked to test this. Recently got this model, the HW-Q990D after being told that the bass is more powerful and a much better system. After setting it up and watching a few movies to test it, the sound in general is good. Unfortunately, I don't hear that much bass from it, and not much difference from the system I returned. Have it set to the max level on the subwoofer and the bass levels. Does not even shake the rooms or you can feel it much on the sofa. I have it on the right side of the sofa and have a tile floor. I read others reviews saying that it shakes their room and has amazing bass sound. I don't think is worth the price that paid for when can get a system for less money that might get better bass sound.

What used to be 3040 and 50 on the volume side of the television is now 8 to 1015 at the heist with the surround sound it will rock you out of your chair.

Bought two, get to write two reviews! My buying two should give you an idea on how much i dig these speakers. As stated in my other review, I'd buy a third if my wife allowed it.

This thing is awesome. I had a really nice Vizio that the little one messed up the subwoofer and decided to upgrade and this one blows that one out of the water.

The sound on this is mind blowing. I had the Bose 700 soundbar with Surround speakers and the 700 Bass Module and while that was incredible. This is Dolby Atmos that you can feel. I'm in love with this purchase and if you have a Samsung TV the Q Symphony feature is literally a next level. If you want the full effect. Watch your favorite movie on 4K UHD Disc. Not streaming. Streaming is nice but so compressed over disc quality.

Always been a fan of Samsung sound bars...I've never had any other brand, and this 990D was ridiculously good for the crazy price.
