My honest feedback is that it works great for the devices it is compatible with. I would have loved an interchangeable interface cord that functions with my MacBook, iPhones, and Camera. The speed, durability, and the amount of space for the price are a fantastic deal based on 1TB comparisons. Overall I would recommend it!

I bought the Samsung Portable 8 TB SSD because I have a lot of Samsung portable drives, and I wanted a bigger drive for my desktop. I bought two of the Samsung drives. The first one, I keep my files and pictures on. The second one, I use as a backup to the first. The second one I configured as an Apple Time Machine backup. So far, they are working perfectly. When I travel with my laptop, I disconnect my first drive and carry it with me. I didn't want a NAS, and the large desktop drives were too big, and I couldn't take them on trips as easily. I find the speed of the drives to be good for me. I have no complaints.

Very fast transfer speeds, solid build, light, and extremely dependable. Nothing else I could ask for from a product like this. I trust it.

This is QLC trash, like the Samsung QVO drives you hear horror stories about. I was copying the data from a 4TB Crucial X6 (4 years old) to this drive. It started getting REALLY hot and just like the Samsung QVO drives with QLC technology, the drive started performing at slower than spinning disk SATA drives for writes. Sometime during the writes, the drive just felt like it hung and I googled and found out that it was QLC and it all made sense. This was an impulse buy because of the discount. I have a ton of SSDs, ranging from 7G/second Gen4 NVMe drives to older Samsung portable T5s. Literally every single one of those drives is faster at reads/writes than this thing. I'm not sure if I had a dud, but even the advertised speeds are half comparable portable drives. Stick with the T7 Shield (v.s. regular T7) or T9 based on your needs. Those are great drives. Hopefully, Samsung releases 8TB models for something like that soon.

Sure, its not the fastest SSD, but if you have large volumes of data that you'd like quick, portable, and durable access to, this thing cannot be beat. I used to use mechanical drives for quick(ish) and convenient(ish) access to data, but I never looked back after making this swap. Smaller, faster, and more durable. Hopefully this is the start of the transition to high capacity but affordable(ish) SSDs!

These are far better than expected. Plug & play, massive storage and fast transfer speeds. These were purchased to replace our Drobos that are no longer being supported.

I heard great things about this SSD. It would fast enough for editing off of and reliable. It was fast when I purchased it but was not reliable. After having it for just under a month a large portion of my files became corrupted. I decided to return it. The Best Buy I purchased it from was very understanding. They took it even though it was returned after the 15 day returns window. I was provided store credit at the price I purchased the SSD for. Thank you Best Buy for making this right!

The device is small and compact. It’s does the job, it’s gets dirty fast and transferring files take a little more than product specs.

Haven’t had an issue with it. Durable and works well.
