Using as a backup/external storage drive. Despite reviews, transferred hundreds of Gb to clean (unfragmented) drive quickly. No data on reliability.

Remarkably Seagate Took a little bit of a nosedive when it moved its headquarters out of the US and its base out of the US. I expected it would improve, considering the conditions of corporations in the US as opposed to the ones in Europe. But apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Customer service for Seagate has dropped dramatically. Its products. Its products show more signs of mishaps Recently, However, the bottom line is, does it work, and do you keep your data even when trouble occurs? YES So in my opinion It means all. It meets all the needs of A good storage device. Designed on the base of the exceptional hardware construction from its past. The drive Thus far Is exceptional In hardware. And design. No doubt. It's read and write capabilities double to triple the speed of normal hard disks. Its USBC connection. Allows for 10 megabits per second. And it's reasonably portable. It seems to be the perfect drive. For external backups and mass storage. The unfortunate failure problem of the drive is its power usage. Converting to USB A for older desktops or lower Powered ports like five volts becomes a serious issue as the drive fluctuates in power usage, causing Disk failures. The typical zero. MS 0008 KX7XX.**** beef Messages and sometimes losing its format and becoming raw. This occurs with laptops as well, which is why the drive is probably selling for less than it's actually worth. Also USBC. Connectors not necessarily. Past power freshly. To their drives. Its original cable provided, which has been somewhat of a problem with Seagate for years. Has a low quality standard. A strange fix for the USBC cables that replaced the USB A cables is that it can be. Inserted upside down or right side up. No more plastic Barrier to force you to place the cable in a correct direction. This however does not fix the problem. Of the cable being bad when you plug it in. But if you flip the USBC cable upside down. It may work better. And reduced problems. USBC smaller sized cable. As a lifeline to a laptop or any device being the only input or output is. Telling you one day your cable will break and you will have to bust open the. Case. If you want to use the drive. Or product inside. I have several laptops with issues already, plus number of USBC 's. So you might have thought I would put in a horrible rating for it. This drive, but do not be concerned. Again Time will tell how long the USBC cable will last. But the drive probably is a Seagate original. And they last well beyond their warranties And I believe Seagate is an honorable company, unlike Micfon, Even if they don't have a telephone number to call for the US based products you purchase - Which I dislike a great deal. Since I used to even talk to the engineers. When I first thought my two megabyte hard disk. Or maybe it was 20. I would suggest getting one. Running it for a lifetime. Prices will only get cheaper. And they can. Have tremendous. Storage capacities which will will only grow in time. Partition it to two partitions if you like. And you could store everything you have. On number of computers. Telephones etc. Seagate hardware is superior. Thus far!, And I don't have any problems calling England for support. Fortunately, they do speak English there.

I’ve been using this Seagate 8TB drive for storage and backups, and it works great. Setup was quick and easy, transfer speeds are good, and the drive has been reliable. Plenty of storage space for large files. Very happy with the purchase.

Bought this 8TB disk as a backup drive for a brand new high-end iMac. Apple worked hard at trouble shooting it multiple times. Seagate's tech support couldn't figure it out. In the end the only option was to pay to ship it back to Seagate for an exchange or sign up for a $29.99 membership fee with BestBuy and have them handle the exchange. Total waste of money. This product is not ready for prime time.
