A: Here are my results after a thorough but completely unscientific test under quiet living room conditions. I sat approximately 10 feet away from a new Sony 85 inch TV (with fiber optic hookup) and listened through my Sennheiser RS 175 headphones, and the TV, to 10 minutes of sharp noises (mostly gunshots at a private target range). If there was any sound delay at all it should have been quite easy to hear it. There was no delay that I could detect nor has there been during the 4 months that I've owned the headphones. For typical home viewing, the audio in the headphones matches the tv speakers (and the picture) beautifully. As a former announcer (not a degreed engineer though) I'm pretty picky about sound and these do sound great.
Q: Where do you get replacement batteries?
A: They are standard AA rechargeable batteries. The headphones come with them, and they are easily replaced when the time comes.
A: You can use two headphones with the base unit. They have to be the same model. Search for Sennheiser HDR 175 Accessory RF Wireless Headphone for RS 175.
A: Yes the headphones available at Best Buy contained all the necessary accessories to set them up. the Best Buy description does not actually detail what's in the box but I called them and they weren't sure, so I bought it and the accessories were indeed in the box. The headphones work very well with our entertainment system.
Q: are these only for tv or can you listen to music with them
A: The sound quality is really good for tv so the sound quality should be good music. These headphones allow adjustments of the highs and lows. Sennheiser has been making audiophile quality equipment for decades.
Q: Can you plug this headset in when your in a commercial airplane or any other device to hear sound ?
A: No you cannot
Q: The pads are falling apart can new pads be purchased?
A: Amazon has a good selection of replacement ear pads for this model. The prices are pretty reasonable and the quality is better than the factory pads in my opinion. Just search your model and you should find a nice replacement pair.

A great Hi-Fi addition to my PC setup that lets me move around my apartment. I replaced a similar but older model of Sennheiser wireless headphones with this unit, and it's treated me fairly well. I find the headset on the heavy side, but comfortable nonetheless. Audio quality is great and I enjoy movies/music with the Bass Boost feature. On the technical side, this headset has rather poor signal quality from the receiver that is more sensitive than other similar headphones to RF interference. I keep the receiver near my router, and the 2.4 GHz WiFi would cause frequent signal drops every minute or so with very few devices connected. I needed to reduce power to the 2.4 GHz radio in order to stop the audio dropping. Standing near a microwave will also kill the signal entirely. Mind where you store the receiver for these headphones! Battery life is excellent for how much I use them - If they are installed into a PC setup like mine, just keep them plugged in when not in use and there shouldn't be a dead headset unless you try to pull some monster 14-hour session. You can replace the stock batteries with ONLY rechargeable AAs, which may improve battery life depending on what batteries you buy.

Excellent sound, relatively comfortable, and easy to pair with an additional headset so that two people can listen. The only con, and it's one that, based on my research, is a problem with this unit, is the occasional sound dropouts. They are brief and random, but they happen often enough to be annoying. I purchased a higher-quality audio cable, and I'm going to try and move the receiver/transmitter away from my wireless router to see if that makes a difference. I am puzzled by this problem because the lower-quality wireless headset combo I had previously never had these dropouts. I expected more from a higher-priced, higher-quality unit.
