To be honest, I had very low expectations for this carpet cleaner, but after hiring a few companies and being unsatisfied with their work throughout my house, I decided to clean the carpets myself. I'm so glad I took before and after photos because I still can't believe how well this machine cleans. The downside is you have to keep refilling the water basket for larhe areas, but for the price I got on Black Friday. It doesn't even bother me. Definitely recommend!

I purchased the Shark Carpet Cleaner to replace my Bissell Pet Steam Carpet Cleaner that I have owned for more than 10 years. Our household consists of two adults and three furbabies. We have a 165 lbs Alaskan Malamute and a 90lbs Siberian Husky & a 45lbs Siberian Husky. Our furbabies are 13yr old Siberian Husky who has doggy pain in his hind legs. He is on pain medication but at times we can't stand on his own. Why am I telling you this....because my furbaby is very elderly in doggy years. In the last 8 weeks, he has fecal incontinence. His nody is confused about the hind leg/hip pain and when/if his bowels need to evacuate. Some background on the humans, i have a herniated disc with sciatica in my back. This causes pain daily so when i chose devices that require frequent use, i must chose well as to not further aggravate my injury. As to the Shark Carpet cleaner: the actual device is 3asy to pull from the box, follow the set up guide and have a functional device in less than 10minutes. There are three accessory pieces meant to battle embedded dog/human hair, liquid/wet messes, and one for small messes of which you can fill with cleaner instead of the large solution reserve on the device. The carpet deep cleaner is light weight, especially when compared to my older brands. I am able to run it in the same fashion as i woukd while using my Shark Vacuums. The head of the Vacuum pivots the same multidirectional feature as the vacuums. The water reserve has a fill line for concentrated cleaner solution then another line which guides the cleaner solution. I appreciate this feature so i do not over or under dilute the cleaner solution. There is a small tank on the front for the Oxy boost solution. The tank on the bottom is for dirty water. Both tanks are not large enough to cause any aggrevation to my back injury. This model has the silicone brushes on the base head. These are amazing in the fact that you are not digging doggy or human hair out if the bottom of the deep cleaner. There is a dry run mode, meant to be used after the deep cleaning mode has been ran. When the dry mode is used after the deep cleaning mode, it allows the user to extra more water/cleaning solution from the carpets. I have used this deep cleaner on my carpet and my area rugs, it cleans equally on both. I was shocked by the ease of use, the light weight, and appropriately sized tanks on the cleaner. I would certainly recommend this device to families with children or furbabies!

After seeing how well my CarpetXpert worked at home, I recommended that my dad buy a carpet cleaner instead of throwing away his area rug, which would have cost $300–$500 to replace. His rug was in very bad shape — heavily soiled and honestly embarrassing. I cleaned just one section of the rug to show him what the machine could do and sent him a picture. He was completely amazed by the difference. The contrast between the cleaned area and the untouched area said it all. The HairPro Pet version is powerful and pulled deep dirt, grime, and pet-related messes out of the rug. It restored life back into something he was ready to discard. The built-in spot remover made treating the worst areas easy and effective. This machine didn’t just clean — it saved money and restored value. I’m very happy with both products and would absolutely recommend them to anyone dealing with pet messes, high-traffic rugs, or considering replacement instead of cleaning.

The product cleans amazingly. We have two pets in the home, so cleaning can be tricky. Used it on a rug that we hadn’t been able to clean since our old Brissell was broken, with the two dogs it got pretty disgusting. With a few passes the rug was visibly much cleaner. This product allows the rug to dry quickly and doesn’t seep through to my flooring. The only con is having to constantly empty the dirty bin and add water and cleaner. I keep a mop bucket next to my rug to empty and continue which seems to help save time.

Works like a wonder, it just fills up fast on the dirty water tank. I will clean a 17x17 room on one tank of solution and I emptied the dirty water twice.

Let me tell you… the carpets I cleaned probably haven’t been cleaned other than vacuumed for over 40 years (this is not an exaggeration). I can not afford new carpets right now so I thought I’d try this out. It has exceeded my expectations! With only one cleaning they look almost new! The texture and liveliness of fresh carpet has came back! I will say that due to the dirtiness of it I had to empty the dirty water/hair container often though I had to do 3 times in a smaller room for reference. Make sure you dedicate plenty of time to this task just FYI. Also just go ahead and order a few more cleaning supplies especially ingredient 1 (it goes fast)! The instructions are horrible that come with it and online. So to save you some trouble (and time) when you turn on machine look for the “deep clean” and “dry only” options that you choose via the triple line button (you’re welcome for that). Anyways I do not do many reviews but I felt compelled to write this one because I know I am asking a lot out of this machine. So far it has delivered! I will update if the machine goes South on me. Works great! I don’t have a lot of carpet so works great for me but if you have a lot of carpet the water tank is a bit small. Prob could do a small room if you only do one pass over.

It’s well worth the price! Make sure to vacuum before using this if you have pets. Overall a great vacuum and it extends so long you don’t have to move it much can do your floors or the couches with this.

I got this for my fiance, and even though I'm not allowed to touch it, she loves using it. She says it works better than rug doctor and the attachments are amazing.

We will be returning the unit as it does not work on thicker, shag like area rugs. It shuts down immediately when trying to move forward and displays 2 red light indicating the roller is not working. When I tried it on a flat surface rug, it worked fine. I did call Tech Support and Steven told me there is no way to trubleshoot this particular issue but he claims to have documented my comments. A height adjustment feature would solve the problem, but I have 2 rugs that it will not work on. Should have tested this model on all types of area rugs, or make mention in the description that the unit does not work on the type of rug I described.

We’re going to be moving soon, and our new place has carpet where our current place has only wood floors. With a dog, fall and winter are a battle trying to keep the floors clean. Carpet is another story; with our allergies we will have to clean it regularly. Renting a carpet cleaner frequently will end up being money down the drain, so I decided to pick up a carpet cleaner. I wanted one before we moved because we would need to clean the carpet before we moved in as the current residents have both a dog and cat, and I’m deathly allergic to cats. That’s where the Shark CarpetXpert Hair Pro Pet with StainStriker caught my attention. Pros: - Deep cleans carpet and furniture with multiple attachments. - Easy to Use. - Handles hair easily. Cons: - Cleaning solution is heavily perfumed, only compatible with Shark Brand solutions. - Have to refill and empty often. - No speed indicator. Setup: To give the Shark CarpetXpert a challenge before our new place, I took it over to the local comic bookstore as the carpet there is disgusting and its dog friendly with many carpet stains to prove it. Assembling was straight forward; the included instructions have easy to follow with pictures for each step. It took me around 15 mins to unpack, browse the manual, and assemble the cleaner. The biggest difference I noticed while prepping the cleaner was the 2 types of cleaner: Deep Clean and OXY Multiplier. The Deep Clean solution is a concentrate that has to be diluted in the water container, which is pretty standard for carpet cleaners. There are clear fill lines on the water container, though I might add less of the Deep Clean or try to find one that is not as scented as the smell is quite potent. The surprise to me was the 2nd cleaner, OXY Multiplier, which had its own container and would only be applied via the attachment handled, called the StainStriker. One concern I had before using the cleaner was that Shark decided to put the disclaimer that the cleaner is only compatible with Shark cleaning solutions, which is clearly a ploy to keep you buying their product. I would prefer a list of “compatible” products and a suggestion to use Shark branded for best results. I understand there is formulations into the cleaning solutions, but I like having the option to multiple cleaning products as in this case, the scent is overwhelming and I would prefer a non-scented option that just cleans. In Use: Using the CarpetXpert is very easy, there is only 2 modes: Deep Clean and Dry Only. Selecting the mode is clear, as the current mode is indicated by the display, and switching modes is just a click. The Deep Clean mode uses the water-cleaning solution mixture when rolling the cleaner forward and suctions when rolling back. The suction is powerful, pulling up enough water that the carpet is left only damp to the touch without extra water. Right away, I noticed that the Dirty water tank only holds about half that of the Clean water tank. Which isn’t a huge issue, but the issue is that both are extremely small. If you move slowly over a carpet, you will be emptying the dirty water every 15mins and filling up the tank in 30mins. This might not sound bad, but the issue is that at my “slowest” pace, I only covered a 10 ft by 4 ft section of carpet. Though, I was targeting a heavily used and extremely dirty section of carpet in the comic bookstore. Like I said, this would be a challenge for the CarpetXpert. I would have liked a larger dirty water tank and a smaller clean water tank, so the ration was more than 1 to 1 for when you’d have to empty and add more water. Results: On the Slow take over the heavily traveled path, I emptied the Dirty water tank at about half the Clean water tank, I switched to Dry Only mode and did another pass, but only took up about a cup of water. The single pass seemed to be plenty, maybe because the cleaner was brand new and still at peak performance. In all cases, the water the cleaner sucked up was the blackest water I’ve ever seen. No joke, the CarpetXpert does deep cleaning. The hair the cleaner picked up collected in either the dirty water basket, StainStriker attachement, or the bottom of the tube of the attachment hose which has easy access on the side of the cleaning head. This made cleaning up the machine very easy, and tool free. I’ve done enough carpet cleaning in the past to know about the right speed to go over the carpet, but one feature I wish the CarpetXpert had was a speed indicator, that indicated either the right speed or level of cleaning based on how fast you moved the cleaner. Other models I’ve used have had one, which was helpful to keep the pace consistent. I played around with the speed at which I moved the cleaner, in a kind of “Slow”, “Normal”, and “Vacuum Speed” pace. It must have been just how dirty the floor was, but in all cases the water pulled up was the same darkness color. But I did notice that in the “Vacuum” speed, the carpet looked visually dirtier after drying the next day. The speed you move the cleaner will greatly impact the level of cleaning. The StainStriker, did well to its namesake, and strikes the stains. Depending on the attachment, the actions are different, but for the most part it’s dry scrub to loosen things up, then extract to get the loose bits, add water solution, wet scrub, and then extract to get the liquid and dirt. I only had to do this a few times to get up a coffee stain from a customer that had been there for a few years. We were surprised by the results. The Pet Hair Extractor did an amazing job at pulling up all the hair on furniture and made it extremely easy to remove the hair, all without causing the cleaner to jam up. Not that I’m wanting to use it, but I KNOW I’ll be using the Pet Mess Extractor in the near future, as our little four-legged demon child likes marking things when upset with us, but I am actually kind of looking forward to seeing if it is easier than a rag and spray bottle. Conclusion: If you have a Pet that often makes a mess on the carpet, either spots or just a few rooms, then the CarpetXpert Hair Pro Pet will be a god send at cleaning up the mess. Or if you have an entry way that gets heavy use, this will clean it right up. Though, if you have a large area of carpet to cover, this model might not be the best as it excels at smaller areas of carpet. The StainStriker attachments means cleaning up rugs or furniture is a quick job, that can have immediate results. I’ll be recommending the Shark CarpetXpert Hair Pro Pet to my friends with Pets, and possibly borrowing it to them once I finish cleaning our new place.
