Sure, it can just be a portable fan to direct a breeze at your face (or elsewhere) with 10 fan speeds. With a quick twist, you can swap out the fan cap for the misting attachment and now it’s a misting fan! Or swap that out for the cooling plate and now you have a chilled metal cooling pad to hold to your neck, forehead, wrist or elsewhere. Each method has its benefits and considerations, but each can be equally effective. From empty, this fan needs about 3.5 hours to charge via USB-C and cannot be used while charging. While I appreciate the portability factor, it would have been nice to be able to plug it in to an external USB battery for extended runtimes while at home or during longer outdoor sessions - especially when used with higher fan speeds or with the Mist or Cooling Plate options which both consume the battery much faster than the lower speeds in fan-only mode. Swapping out the various accessories is fast and easy. A pouch is provided to store the 2 that aren’t in use so you have options available, but this means that the pack weight for the unit plus all 3 is 326g or about 11.5oz if you want to bring your options with you. Battery life on the low fan speed as just a fan is great at 11 hours. If you’re using the Misting head, that drops to 4 hours max and using the Cooling plate on level 1 drops it to just 2 hours of use on a full charge. Keep in mind that you can’t sue this fan while its charging and it may need over 3 hours to recharge between uses. I appreciate the slide switch on the side to lock the unit off or enable it to work. This prevents it from accidentally turning on in a pocket or purse. I found that sometimes it would get confused if that switch was on when swapping the accessories so best practices might be to lock the unit off before swapping modes. Once enabled (switch on), pressing in on the screen at the top of the smaller of the two tubes will turn on the unit to the lowest speed/setting for that mode. It would have been nice to return to that last-used setting for the installed accessory, but it doesn’t. Not a huge deal but something that would have been appreciated. Depending on the accessory/mode, rotating the screen will adjust the fan speed as indicated by a single digit shown on the display from 1-10. The mode is represented by an icon for Water, Cool plate or a lack of icon for Fan-only and is determined by which accessory is installed. The screen isn’t the easiest to see outdoors in full sun but a bit shade with your hand helps, if needed. Battery life is indicated by a solid battery icon and the battery level is represented by the color of this icon from Green (at least 70%), through Orange and Red. Those with forms of color blindness may have difficulty determining the battery level by icon color, but a blinking red icon is your sign to recharge the battery so even if you can’t tell the difference in color, you can at least notice a blinking battery icon for time to charge. The unique two-barrel twisting design looks like a pair of binoculars. It isn’t very useful while being held but is super helpful when propping it up on a desk or clipped to something during non-held use. You can twist the two parts such that the fan is aimed where you want. There are even accessories to clip the unit onto handlebars of bikes, strollers, etc. The fan itself is deep in the base of the larger tube and not part of the Fan accessory. This means that the blades are not anywhere near where the air comes out. There’s a removable and replaceable inlet filter grille on the bottom, though. If something does get caught in there, you can pop off the grille and clean things out. Otherwise you won’t need to worry much about fan blades. The misting attachment is interesting. It is basically the guts of a humidifier in the space of the cap. With the accessory removed, you flip over the cap and open what was the bottom of the cap to fill it with up to 14ml of water. That isn’t much and it isn’t very easy to fill, but there are no moving parts so it should be safe to get the whole thing wet during filling as long as you dry it off before using in the fan. There is no indication of when the water tank is empty other than the lack of a visible mist during operation. Estimates are about 15 minutes of water life on a full tank before a refill. To prevent any water from leaking out while in a bag, there is a cover that twists to open or close the outlet like the lens cover of a fancy older camera. Just be aware that this cover is fully manual and you can turn on the Misting function with the cover closed which will make a bit of a mess when you open it again. That said, the misting function works quite well. The mist travels far enough to hold the unit in your hand and feel the effects on your face provided there’s not a stiff wind. You can choose between intermittent or continuous misting but as mentioned above, you’ll get no more than about 15 minutes of use between water tank fills, and a max of 4 hours of fan time on a charge at low fan speed. The cooling plate is surprisingly effective, too. It requires skin contact to work and is very noticeable when placed on your neck or wrist. This mode recedes the battery life the most down to as little as 1 hour of use in 8 minute timed cycles. Overall, this product is remarkably effective for making you feel more comfortable when the temperature rises. Battery life is a concern and the weight is to be considered, but it definitely gets the job done when the heat rises.

The Shark Chill Pill enters a personal fan market that is crowded by cheap, plastic fans powered by a couple of AA batteries and featuring hi and low speeds, if you’re lucky. The Chill Pill features an innovative design, rechargeable battery and 3 distinctly different ways to cool yourself when you need it. The design is unlike anything else on the market. Two cylinders are joined together in the middle with a twistable joint, allowing you to position it in whatever way works for you. One of the cylinders holds the rechargeable battery and features a round led screen showing battery level, fan speed and mode icons. The other cylinder holds the fan outlet at one end and a metal mesh filter at the other. The fan features 10 speeds. Shark recommends the first 5 for indoors and the others for outdoor use. Of course, this is entirely dependent on how hot you are, but one reason for suggesting the lower speeds for indoor use is that this little device is rather loud. You might not want to use this next to someone sleeping next to you. The fan is actually bladeless, but it moves a lot of air and is very effective at providing relief from the heat. Keep in mind that this is personal fan, since it’s small size makes it effective only for one, but that’s why you’re interested in this, right? Perhaps the most innovative feature of the Chill Pill is the cooling plate, something I haven’t seen anywhere else. Swap out the fan for the cooling plate and start it up. There are 2 levels of cooling to choose from. A smooth, shiny metal plate cools quickly and you simply press the plate to your skin to experience soothing coolness wherever you need it. This is great for providing instant relief when you need it, especially for things like headaches. This is much more convenient than using ice cubes and dealing with the melting. The third mode of operation is dry-touch mist. This involves a small tank that uses a white wick (4 are included) to absorb water that put into the tiny tank. This then produces a mist that, together with the 10 speeds of cool air, cools you down even more. Shark calls it a “dry mist”, but you wouldn’t want to point this at your face while wearing glasses, unless you don’t mind them getting wet. However, it really is a very fine mist that seems to evaporate before it falls. I tested this by sitting the Chill Pill on a flat surface, with a dry paper towel under the area where the mist fell. Neither the towel nor the surface exhibited any moisture at all. This mode is especially useful on a hot day outside. The tank will last about 8-10 minutes of continuous use, but if you take a bottle of water with you, it’s easy to refill. The Chill Pill is designed to be a personal cooling device, and it does a great job at that. Shark offers accessories like a clip, cross-body strap, and bike clamp, but none of these is included. In the box you get the Chill Pill, 3 caps for the different operational modes, charging cable, and drawstring bag for holding the caps. The Chill Pill allows you to get some relief from the heat without the need to carry a bulky fan or search for power. While I haven’t done enough testing to really know how long the battery lasts, I’m impressed with how much I’ve been able to use it while hardly impacting the battery. This is truly a personal device that you can take anywhere. I’m looking forward to seeing how well it can do at a hot football game in August. I think it’ll be up to the task. The Chill Pill retails for $149. It’s very well built, just like everything Shark makes. It does what it promises to do, but this is a pretty expensive item. You do get what you pay for, and you won’t be disappointed with the Chill Pill, but you’ll need to be able to swallow the price to do so.

This is a very cool and thoughtfully designed portable cooler. The way it rotates into different orientations allows for flexible positioning right out of the box without any attachments. The fan is a bit louder than I’d like, but it works well and the cold plate and mister attachments are also great. Included is the main unit with the fan attached, the cold plate attachment, and the mister attachment. There is also a USB-C charging cable, replacement wicks for the mister, and a small bag that I assume is for carrying the accessories. The main unit consists of 2 cylinders, one being the motor/fan and the other being the battery/controller. These can be rotated so that they are either parallel or perpendicular to each other. In the perpendicular position, the fan can be rested on a surface and points up at about a 45 degree angle. The unit is controlled via a rotating dial/button and there’s a small LED screen that will display each of the modes and settings. The attachments twist into and out of place and the controls and screen will change depending which is attached. This control setup works well and is pretty easy to figure out without any instructions. My only gripe is that I wish the display could rotate based on its position so it is more readable. The fan attachment works great and moves a lot of air. The volume to me begins to be distracting in a quiet environment at about the 3 or 4 speed levels (max is 10), though the noise and pitch itself is not particularly bothersome. The cold plate attachment works really well. It only has 2 setting levels, but it can be felt right away and provides some nice relief when rested against the skin. The mister attachment also works really well. The mister does require a wick that is supposed to be replaced every 30 days. I’m not sure if this replacement schedule depends on usage or not, but you get 3 extra wicks and the extras that Shark sells are pretty cheap. The mist, true to the claims on the package, feels cool but dry and doesn’t build up any moisture on my skin. Battery life is okay. At the higher settings this is going to get drained in an hour, which could be a problem if you’re out camping or at some multi-hour event in the hot sun. Charging is via USB-C though, so if you’re packing a power bank or charger for your phone you can charge this in about 3.5 hours and it should run from a USB power source as well. Overall, I like the ChillPill from Shark a lot. It’s smartly designed and it works well. I have a wife who is chronically ill and often runs hot and this is a lifesaver for her.

The Shark Chill Pill is a nice addition to any leisure outdoor activities, or a great way to stay cool indoors. The attachments make it flexible enough to use in different situations. Though the size, and possibly the fan noise, may be a bit much for some. I think the Chill Pill excels indoors. It's a great way to cool off. It's portable enough to strap to your backpack, or maybe your purse strap to help keep you cool while walking or traveling. If sound from the fan is too much for your situation, you can use the cooling plate. And lounging outside, the misting pod was excellent. Battery life has been pretty decent in my experience. You can get close to 2 hours out of it. Depending on fan speed, of course. I found the cooling plate to be only subtle relief when outside, but still nice. The fan is more powerful than I expected. Depending on how hot it is though, you may want the misting pod instead though. I think there are a few improvements that could be made. It would be a nice touch to allow charging from the Chill Pill too. Having the added benefit of a USB power bank seems like it would make this even more useful. That would help justify having it always with you. There's also not an included, easy way to clamp it to your backpack, or anywhere else. An included clamp would have been nice. The pouch to carry the add-ons is helpful. But a way to carry/mount the Chill Pill itself would be nice. Pros: Works well. Especially the misting pod. Pretty good fan speed and power. Nicely designed. Twisting it to set on a flat surface is great. Good battery life. Cons: A little bulky, no easy way to attach or carry it, added ability of being a USB power bank would be nice

To be honest, this product caught my attention because of the name alone. It’s great. And looking at the description, the Chill Pill has a lot of potential. A portable fan is a lovely thing to have on hot days, and the misting and cooling plate sound like fantastic additions. I was skeptical that it would be worth the price, but I’ve had good experience with this brand in the past. Now, there are other portable personal fans, even from designer brands, at much lower price points. My experience with Shark is that they can usually stand up to the designer brands on quality at a lower price point. Since this one is more expensive, I expected a lot more functionality. I’m not sure if it delivers. While the mister and cooling plate are features I have not seen in other personal portable fans, as a cohesive product I feel like it falls short. Each of the three features (fan, mister, cooling plate) are nice by themselves. The problem is that they each require a separate attachment that is swapped out from the base unit. There’s a little storage bag to hold the attachments that are not installed, but the bag isn’t big enough to also store the base unit. So I always have to carry around multiple items, which is awkward at best. While I like the feel and design of the base unit, it’s hard to imagine carrying around all these pieces when I go out on a hot day. More likely I’d just stick with the fan and leave the other attachments at home. And in that case, this is probably the most expensive fan available. Chill Pill: The main unit is a pair of cylindrical pieces connected together with a pivot joint. The control knob is on the end of one cylinder, and the fan attachment is on the end of the other. The control is really easy to operate, and it has an illuminated display that clearly identifies the current settings. The design is such that it can either be held in the hand, or it can be set on a table or desk. Changing the angle between the two cylinders adjusts the angle that the fan faces. Definitely a slick design. The battery life is great: I’ve been using it for a few hours a day for the past week and I still haven’t had to charge it. Switching attachments is fairly straightforward, but a couple times I did have to disconnect and reconnect the attachment to get the base to recognize it. Fan: The high speed fan is really nice. They suggest speeds 1-5 indoors and 6-10 outdoors. Even on the lowest setting it provides a robust cooling breeze that I can really feel. On the highest setting it’s almost like a hair dryer in terms of the airflow. It’s relatively quiet considering how much air it moves, but there is a high-pitched whine to the electronic motor that’s noticeable in a quiet room, especially with the fan at lower speeds. Cooling Plate: This metal plate attachment operates, I believe, with a solid state thermoelectric heat transfer mechanism. The front of the plate gets quite cool, while the fan blows heat away to the sides. I found that this provides a lot of heat relief to targeted areas, like the temples, forehead, or neck. One day I got a bit of a sunburn and this cooling plate was quite soothing. I can also see this being a little bit of a comfort any time an ice pack might be appropriate (although it’s a lot smaller than an ice pack). The only issue I had with this is that while it cools down very quickly, it doesn’t always stay cool if I keep it against my hot skin for a while. It can only handle a certain amount of cooling before it needs a rest to cool down again. Mist Attachment: This is probably my favorite attachment to use, but for the fact that the built-in water reservoir is so small that it can only provide about 10 minutes of mist. If I were using this outdoors, I’d have to carry a water bottle around with me to refill it. But on a hot day it might still be worth it! A little ultrasonic pad shoots out a stream of super fine mist while the fan blows the mist toward me. The result is a refreshingly cool breeze, basically blowing chilled air at me. This is a fantastic way to stay cool, plus the water helps keep my skin from drying out so much at the same time. Summary: I like it, but carrying around a bunch of attachments limits how portable it really is. And the battery is great, but other limitations make it harder to use for an extended period of time. I’d definitely recommend this at 1/3 the price, but as it is I’m not sure if it’s worth the money.

After testing this Shark ChillPinn for couple days, during some of Houston Texas heat days... It is clear that this is sophisticated step up from the average handheld fan. It is a modular cooling "ecosystem" that offers more than just moving air or a common blower. Shark is known by their very good vacuum cleaners. Moving air is indeed their game. Cooling performance: - The blower Fan: The generated airflow is indeed impressive. The manual states 1-5 for indoor, 6-10 for outdoor usages as the fan can get noisy on high settings. Still, at the highest speed, the amount of air is good and there is no noticed heat by the motor. - InstaChill plate: using Peltier cooling, Shark ChillPill is capable of dropping the plate surface temperature to 13C perfect for spot cooling pulse points like the forehead, neck and even sore muscles and joints. It feels good indeed. - Dry touch Mist: This module is able of generating a cool mist that helps cooling off without leaving you soaked. I'd say it is very effective in dry climates. Comparing it with air only module, the cooling sensation is better. Shark smart design where the ChillPill detects the attached module and adapts the controls might also allow them to create different modules that can be used with the same ChillPill. Battery life is really good. It took a bit long time to charge (first time) but the battery lasted for long time. The ChillPill came with spare wick sticks to be used with the cool mist module. Manual suggests monthly changes. I'd recommend using distilled water to prevent mineral buildup (tap water). Shark is listing 3 sticks for $4.99 (+tax and shipping). Main Cons I've noticed with this ChillPill: The plastic feels a bit on the cheap side. A higher quality plastic might help reducing noise levels. Charging speed is low: 5V, 0.8A as measured. I recommend buying this ChillPill as it offers very good cooling features.

I feel like any review of this product should begin by acknowledging how wonderful it is that Shark named this thing a “Chill Pill.” Ha. I tip my hat in their direction for the rhyme and nod to ‘80s slang, and frankly can’t believe it made it past the accountants. I’ll give even more kudos for making something that has such a relatively niche use case and for doing it well. I don’t expect the ChillPill to fly off the shelf in certain parts of America, but I’m in the South, summer is approaching, humidity is a beast, and we’ve already come close to hitting 90 degrees and it’s not even May yet. There is room for the ChillPill in my life. Definitely. What I like: the device is a good size. It’s like a small-ish pair of binoculars, in a lot of ways. Very lightweight, but the materials don’t feel cheap. The silver canister is metal and houses the electronics, while the other tube is plastic and mostly hollow for the purposes of air flow. My biggest question mark around the ChillPill was whether or not the fan would actually get up to any significant amount of speed. Well, I can put that concern to rest. I’ve had small desk fans that did not move air as rapidly as the ChillPill can when it’s cranked on high. It’s impressive! Even better, it’s effective! It absolutely gives you a noticeable breeze. The end of the metal canister with the digital display is activated by pressing down on it. (Not touch controls, thankfully). That’s how you turn it on and switch to different modes, but to change the level you can actually rotate the end like a volume knob. It even has a raised texture on it to make that easier. Very well thought out. And if the fan is all you need from this, then I think you ought to give it a try. Beyond that though are the two other attachments: a mister and a cold plate, essentially. The “heads” can be swapped out very easily. Just look for the dots and line them up. The mister has a latch on the bottom, that you unlatch and then fill with a little bit of water. There’s also a sponge-like filter in there. The packaging includes three additional filters and recommends changing them every 30 days. The cold plate is a real metal knob, basically, and gets quite cold to the touch very, very quickly. This is very useful for people who have issues regulating their body temp. The mister works just fine, although I’ll say that to really feel the cool air of the mist you have to get the whole ChillPill quite close to your skin. In some ways, it seems like the least useful of the attachments but YMMV. The packaging includes a little velvety pouch for putting everything in, as well as a charger. Speaking of, so far so good with the battery. I charged it once (via USB-C), have used it intermittently for hours and still have plenty of juice. In fact, it’s still displaying that the battery is totally full. I’m hoping to give it a good test at a soccer game and just leave it on the whole time to see how long it will last, but signs are positive. If I were to nitpick I’d say the only hesitation I have with the ChillPill is that, while the way the product twists is nice for setting the device up on a table, I worry a little about how well that will hold up. You can twist it either direction, but only to a certain point. The device does not at all feel flimsy, but I’d still be cautious not to twist it too hard or to far past that point. Just seems like it could snap. As such, I’d also be a little hesitant to just hand this over to a young child. But that’s a small concern and overall I’m very happy. Curious if I can take it into a theme park or if it would get flagged at security. If so, it would be perfect for a day out like that in the heat.

This personal fan and mist is amazing! It has three interchangeable attachments. One is the regular fan that one would expect, then there is a neat cooling plate and also the mist attachment. I would have gotten it even if it only had the fan attachment but the other two add great value! Using the fan, there are 1-10 speed levels depending on your need. When using the mist cap, you must use a wick that comes with it and fill the cap up with water where the wick is. The mist is very fine and can set as continuous or not. It comes with 3 additional replacement wicks. It needs to be replaced every 30 days, so I plan to order additional ones when I only have one wick left. The cooling plate really works! I love using it on my neck. The package also comes with a usb cord for charging and a carrying case which makes it convenient. I am really excited about this, chillpill, especially with the warm weather coming up. I tend to lean hotter than most around me so it’s been so helpful even in these days. It easy to take along on my walks and when watching the children play their outdoor sports. Having different speeds on the fan helps me find the perfect level which changes depending on what I am doing and where I am. It stays charged for a good amount of time. The charge time limit depends on what speed you use it and can last anywhere from 11 hours at speed to 1 ½ hours at speed 10. I’ve only needed to charge it twice so far. I also like the flexibility of using it on the table, holding it or if you purchase one, you can put it on a strap. Those are all the things I love about this chillpill. There are some improvements that I would suggest. One, the soft carry case only fit the chillpill perfectly and no space for the other 2 attachments, it would be nice to have a case that fits the attachments too without having to pay for it. Another concern is that it doesn’t come with any accessories and they all have to purchased separately. It would have been nice if it came with at least a strap for easy carry. But it does have many accessories to purchase. I wanted to purchase the clip but it was out of stock so I’ll wait. Overall, definetely recommend this!

Having used this now a few different times it is very handy when sitting in the stands at softball games to provide a nice breeze. We spend all day at the softball fields with multiple daughters that play travel softball so this is a nice option when we don't want to break out the other larger fan we have. We haven't used the mister yet but I do like that for when it gets even hotter to help cool down our girls between games. Once thing we really like is the metal cooling attachment that can be applied to the back of the neck or forearms to help cool down the girls core body temps faster in the Florida heat. Swapping attachments is very quick and easy which is nice and in the box there is a small pouch to keep all that attachments in. It also include a few additional wicks for the mister attachment as well as a USB-C cable to charge it. The only real complain we have is how large it is and wish there was another attachment to create a bit of a larger breeze. Pros - Small and compact - Multiple attachments that are quick and easy to swap out - Battery life Cons - Loud for being so small - Wish there was another attachment for a wider air stream Overall this is a good option to provide a small personal breeze or mist and that metal cooling pad is a nice way to try and cool down your core body temp by applying to the back of the next.

So this is my first time having some fan plus mist spay device. That was the first thing I tested when I got this. The contents / literature seemed pretty straightforward on the mister attachment and says to add water; no mention of guide to max fill but I think it means near to the top but not to overflow but at the top of the Wick - and these come with 3 spare wicks and to replace monthly. And the mister feels great; two modes of straight mist or some interval mode Mist where it just stops misting only for a second and then resume. It says lasts 10 minutes (perhaps longer in interval mode) so I’d keep a bottle water handy to refill again. Of course empty the mist cap of water when done using, and what I do is shake it of excess and i just leave it open and place the cap on a towel.. room temperature somewhere and that’s it. Theres a cooling plate which is also nice, and the standard fan attachment but the real cooling element is the mist and the chill plate caps since there’s these metal contacts. The fan doesn’t have any so I suspect it just circulates air imho I think like any other handheld fan; and all this testing was in my room and not outdoors at the time of this review since it’s raining in California. The design of this chill pill is unique and done right for safety with your power and battery element in one part / component and the fan/cooling element in another, joined by a hinge to go at different adjustments and help stand the fan. Comes with a carrying pouch and usb charging cable and the instructions specifically say to only use that cord so I’ll take their word for it. So far right now we’re in April and have April showers. There was a bit of heat in the previous months in the high 80s near 90s just last month but surely the heat will be back soon and this device will definitely help if outdoors, outdoor festivals and the park and so on. Yes it’s a must have.

The Shark ChillPill arrived just in time for Fiesta Week down in San Antonio. The weather was humid and warm due to recent rain—the perfect conditions to test how effectively the device provides relief from the heat. I started with the fan attachment. The speed varies from levels 1 to 10, and you can really feel the breeze once you crank it up, though it does get quite loud at the highest setting. The second attachment I tried was the InstaChill cooling plate. I wasn’t expecting it to get very cold, but it certainly does! Even at level two, it provides a nice, refreshing chill. My favorite of the three was the mist attachment. This provided the most effective instant cooling, especially in the humidity. I used it intermittently over the course of two hours and estimate the total active usage time was around 30 minutes before I needed to refill the water. According to Shark, the battery is rated for up to 11 hours on the lowest setting. Using the fan between levels 5 and 9 cuts that time in half, while the highest setting lasts about 1.5 hours. The mister lasts 4 hours on low but drops to 1 hour on high. Using the cooling plate also drains the battery significantly faster. Charging via USB-C takes about 3.5 hours, though I haven't needed to charge it yet after three days of use during the festivities. Overall, the Shark ChillPill is very effective at providing relief on a hot day. The only downside is that portability is a bit compromised if you carry all three attachments at once. Personally, I’ll be sticking with the mist attachment since it still functions as a standard fan even after the water runs out.

The Shark ChillPill surprised me. I needed a device that would help cool me while working outside in the hot Colorado summers. I've tried cheap personal fans bought on Amazon along with the cooling neckbands that advertise that they lower your temperature by tens of degrees. None of them worked really well. The fans moved air, but it moved hot air. The cooling bands madea lot of promises, but were awkward to wear, had batteries that didn't last long, and the actual cooling was suspect. Overall, my experiences have been disappointing. Enter the Shark ChillPill. It's a two part unit connected in the middle by a rotating joint. You can keep the sides parallel or rotate them up to 90 degrees. This allows all sorts of options for positioning. One half of the unit contains the battery and the controls. The battery charges by USB-C and it's duration will depend on the mode you operate in. The controls are a very nice LED display with touchscreen and rotary dial for speed control. The other half is the fan unit itself. There is an air intake and a removable cooling head. The unit comes with three replaceable cooling heads. The default is a standard fan which in operation provides a decent amount of air, but much less airflow than cheaper fans even at top speed. You can control the fan speed via the control dial. It has 10 levels. A second head is a mister attachment. It opens up to reveal a fabric wick inside. Fill with water, remove the fan attachment and insert the mister, power on and the unit released a cooling mist. There are two mist levels selectable and you can open/close the mist aperture to cut the mist on/off. This succeeded in cooling the general area by a few degrees. It was impressive. Unfortunately, the mister dries out after about 10 minutes. The wicks are also consumables that will need to be replaced over time (they include extras in the box). The third attachment is a thermoelectric cooler. It's a metal plate that when the unit turns on cools it's surface to an impressive degree. It won't cool the air around you, but you can press the metal surface against your skin and feel immediate cool relief. It's great tech. Except it eats the batteries quickly. While the fan mode will last 5-6 hours at low speeds (less the faster you go), with the cooling plate attached, I got barely 1 hour out of the unit. This is a great unit, but there are a few drawbacks that kept me from giving it 5 stars. First is the cost. At $150, it wildly expensive for what you get. The cheap chinese fans or misters may not work as well as the Chill Pill, but you can buy a LOT of them for the cost of this one unit. Second issue is the very short battery life. For any appreciable cooling, you need to have it set pretty high. At best you'll get a few hours out of it before needing to be recharged. Use the mister or cooling plate? Even less time. Finally, the last issue is the included sales sheet for accessories they include with the fan. There are some REALLY cool accessories for this including lanyards, belt clips, a nice carrying case. The accessories look great and appear to be extremely useful. Except none of them are included in the base unit. Not even a lanyard. You get a fabric pouch to hold the unused heads, but that's it. The accessory sheet just teases you with what should have been included with the unit for the $150 cost. It's disappointing.

The Shark ChillPill 3-in-1 is a very disappointing product from a company that is known for great and innovative merchandise. There are unfortunately only a few positives to this device. First is the compact size. The unit can easily fit in a small purse or fanny pack / hip sack, and it is not heavy. I also like that the fan and control units pivot from each other, making it somewhat adjustable for air flow direction. Second, the display is very clear and easy to interpret--with a battery level indicator and fan speed. Third, the unit has a lock button to prevent from inadvertantly turning it on while it is stowed away. Unfortunately, that's where the positives stop. As a fan only, you can get 1.5 to 11 hours of use, based on the fan speed. There are 10 settings for the fan, and I found that levels 5-7 are the best for me. Running in this range, I was able to get about 2.5 hours of runtime. Not good. I play sports where it is imperative to keep my hands dry. A typical outing for me is about 3 to 3.5 hours, so a 2.5 hour runtime is not nearly long enough. While I do like that the airflow is a concentrated stream--some people won't like that, and there's no way to adjust the spread. The noise level on the higher fan settings is quite loud. Outside or in a busy indoor space is OK, but not in a quieter setting at all. Therefore, as a fan only, the ChillPill is acceptable, but not the greatest. The ChillPill has two attachments that are included--a cooling pad and a "dry-touch" mister. They are both less than impressive. The cooling plate does indeed feel cold to the touch, but there is no airflow when using the cooling plate, so the cooling effect is only the size of the plate itself--very localized. I realize there are zones on the body, that, when cooled, make the whole body feel cooler--like the wrists, the palms, the neck, etc. But the cooling plate area is too small, and combined with the lack of airflow, just doesn't cut it. You can get 1-2 hours of runtime from this accessory, based on the two levels of cooling offered. The second attachment is the "dry-touch" mister. The reservoir holds about 10ml of water and uses a wick. The wick is good for about a month and three replacement wicks are included with the original purchase. You can get between 1 and 4 hours of runtime with the misting, but on the lowest level, the function is completely useless. The misting itself leaves any exposed skin damp and clammy to the touch. This is not acceptable for me. The advertising showcases people wearing the unit with a lanyard or having it clipped to their clothing or exercise equipment. I went to Shark's website and looked up the prices for these accessories. $25 for a lanyard. $30 for a clip. $5 for three replacement wicks. Wow. No thanks. My last complaint is about the storage tote. The pull-string bag does not like to stay closed and has room for the two accessories and charging cable OR--BARELY--the unit itself. For the price of the ChillPill, I think you can find other devices that perform the same functions for much less money, and they include accessories that cost a lot extra with the ChillPill.

At first, when I mentioned I was interested in this product, a lot of people judged me and said it was unnecessary. But for me, heat isn’t just uncomfortable it can quickly turn into heat exhaustion. So I knew I needed something that would actually help me manage that, especially when I’m outdoors. This ended up being exactly what I was looking for. The cooling plate makes an immediate difference, and the misting feature adds an extra level of relief that you don’t usually get with compact devices like this. What I really love is how small and portable it is I can easily take it with me when I’m hiking, running errands, or just spending time outside in the heat. Since using it, I’ve noticed I can tolerate hot weather a lot better. I don’t feel as overwhelmed as quickly, and it’s made outdoor activities much more manageable and enjoyable. For anyone who struggles with heat like I do, this isn’t unnecessary at all it’s actually really helpful.

Just starting to plan a trip to Greece and being someone who is use to the hot & Humid of NYC in the summer. I saw this and thought i need to have it. If it wasn't as bulky as it is, it wide, it would be 5Star for sure. If there was a carrying case it would be 5PLUS. I've used the cold plate which gets cold in a second and you can feel it work immediately against your skin. I'm sure the mister is a gimmicky but will work as well. it is a bit loud when set to 10, haven't found an occasion to get it that high yet.

Summer is my least favorite season. In winter, if you're too cold, then you can toss on a sweater or burrow under some blankets. But summer? There's not much you can do aside from cranking up the AC or parking yourself in front of a fan. Unfortunately, I often find myself in hot environments where I just can't get comfortable. This little "ChillPill" should help with that a lot. The device has 3 interchangeable heads: a fan, a cooling plate, and a mister. I was a little dismayed to see that the mister uses a wick that has to be replaced every 30 days or so. The device comes with quite a few, but I worry about finding replacements once these run out. I don't plan on using this head very often because of this. The fan and cooling plate don't use any consumables though and can be used indefinitely. Changing out the heads is quick and easy. Just turn the head slightly to unlock it, and lift it off the base. The cooling plate works surprisingly well, but it doesn't have much surface area. It feels a lot like running an ice cube against your skin. It's a small bit of relief, but it doesn't make a substantial difference. The fan works quite well. It has lots of speed settings to select from, and it can easily be positioned for optimal airflow. I think this device will be a real lifesaver this summer.

Beat the heat with this small and decently good fan. The mister is a joke and the coming plate is good as well as the fan. Battery life is great but just don't expect the mister to be game changing it only lasts like 5 minutes.

I overheat big-time this product has been amazing for keeping me cool I love the mist attachment It is so nice. The ice cube attachment is also very nice especially if I’m like getting really hot in my head I can put it up against my forehead and it’ll cool me down almost instantly.

In the attached picture, the larger black ‘tube’ (Motor Barrel) is where the three attachments are installed. The smaller silver tube (Battery Barrel) has the On / Off switch and the display. In the attached picture, you see the three attachments (top to bottom): Misting Pod, InstaChill Cooling Plate, and Fan Cap. The attachments are very easy to exchange between. The adjustable angles are important. Laying flat, with both tubes parallel is great for placing on a table, desk, or another flat space. The Motor Barrel moves in either direction and rests on the table; the Battery Barrel is used to steady it on the table as well, and allows for multiple angles. The largest angle is ~45 degrees; shallow angles can be used if space a bit more confined or to match what is needed. The Fan Cap blows a lot of air; more than I expected. The dial for speed, 1 - 10. Ten is the highest. It is a bit noisy, but it is what I would expect. It is not a negative for the product. The air velocity is the important factor. I went to my daughter’s rugby game; the weather was sunny and hot, so I didn’t mind the noise of the fan at all, for as quickly as it cooled me off. The Misting Pod attachment is very useful. It really is a dry mist, and it cools extremely well without having a wet face. The water droplets are very small compared to other ‘misting’ fans. To keep the size small, the water reservoir is a bit small but lasts enough to cool off. If you have a bottle filled with plain water near you, the reservoir can be re-filled. The reservoir came with a water wick already installed, as well as three replacement wicks, which was a surprise. The manual does not show you how the reservoir lid is opened, and should probably show a picture of what is to flip open. The InstaChill Cooling Plate is a small piece of heaven. After the Fan Cap and/or Misting Pod, the InstaChill Cooling Plate is the final part of cooling off. It has two settings; both get cold within just a few seconds. Put on your pulse points or slowly run across your neck, face, or forehead, this really can’t be beat in terms of a feature. As with everything, there are a few cons. First, the device needs charged, which takes ~3.5 hours. If you are at the beach or a sporting event, you need to either re-charge or use a portable battery pack (like you use to charge your phone). Our devices are equipped with fast-charging capability; the Shark Chill Pill absolutely needs that ability as well. When you run out of battery mid-game, it doesn’t make for a good experience. It DOES run while it is charging, but I’m not sure if it is okay to do so. Second, the protective carry bag. There is no way around not providing a bag with the product, but it needs to fit the Shark Chill Pill AND the remaining two attachments (the third one will be installed in the device). Paying to upgrade to a different/better case is fine; not providing a carry bag that fits everything is not acceptable. It’s inconvenient, and it’s a ‘miss’. Overall though, I’m very pleased with this, and excited for the times I ‘really’ need it (a game, tailgate, beach, etc.).

The Shark ChillPill is a product that I did not know I needed until I had it. Pictures do not do it justice; it is much smaller than I expected. It fits in the palm of your hand. Do not let its size fool you though, it is extremely powerful. It is made of high-quality materials and it light wait. Meaning you can easily put it in a bag, purse, or possibly even a pocket. It has a unique design that allows it to be propped up on a table or can be handheld. It also includes a small bag to hold the extra heads. The ChillPill differentiates itself from every other personal fan due to its 3 in 1 nature. It has 3 attachable heads allowing you to fan, mist, and InstaChill. Each head can be changed in seconds by twisting and popping one out exchanging for another. The first head it comes with is a fan. This fan has 10 different speeds and the highest is extremely powerful. On the highest speed it will last over 1 hour and on the lowest it can last over 10 hours without recharging. Recharging is simple and fast with a Usb-C cable. The ChillPill has a lockout switch which keeps you from accidentally turning it on while storing it. The second head is a dry-touch mist. You simply fill the head with water and twist the nozzle open. This head allows you to choose between a Constant or interval misting. This head is extremely useful on those extra hot days. The last head is a instachill cooling plate. This has two different settings and allows you to target a certain area of your body to cool such as your wrist or neck. Shark also offers other accessories for it such as a travel case, clip, clamp, and several different straps. I am most excited to try this product next time I am at a music festival or when I go camping. It is also great for using at the gym because it can easily be propped up while you are working out. I highly recommend this product to just about everyone. It has so many different use cases and there is nothing else on the market quite like it.
