Customer Ratings & Reviews

Vacuum works great, easy to clean, gets in small spaces. Perfect for an apartment. My only dislike is the cord is connected to the handle in a odd spot and it is covered in a stiff plastic. It would be nice if it was a more supple rubber, but that being said I got used to it. It is a great product overall.

Hands down the best lightweight vacuum I’ve owned!! especially for dog hair, kids, and everyday dust and dirt. I honestly thought my previous vacuum was doing a good job, but clearly it wasn’t. I vacuumed my rug with my old one first, then went back over it with this one just to compare… and it was disgusting how much my old vacuum had left behind. The amount of dust, dirt, and pet hair this vacuum pulls out of rugs and couches is insane. It works well on hardwood floors too, but it really shines on rugs and carpet. It also has an extra-long cord, multiple attachments, and it’s super easy to empty. If you deal with bad allergies from dust, dirt, or pet hair, this is definitely the vacuum to get.

I just opened & used my new Shark Power direct corded vacuum for the first time, & I was impressed! I see why it has 5 stars! The suction is great!! The power almost drives itself, so you dont really have to push it much at all. (Which w/ degenerating disc in my low bk is wonderful!!) I have had my own solo cleaning business for almost 12 yrs, so I have used a lot of different vacuumes. (Including dyson sticks, which dont have much power to me. The only thing I like about that one, is it blows cold air on you, not warm or hot). I bought this for my home use, but would love another just for work. I think it'd help my back a lot. Pictures are in this order.... I first used it on a large living room rug I have ,it got up quite a bit, even though I had just vacuumed a couple days ago w/ a not so powerful cordless. The 2nd picture is from 2 carpeted bedrooms, (including under the bed, which is why I love a stick vac!) & the 3rd, is from using the furnature attachment on the cat tree. Over all, from someone who has used a variety of vacuumes, I am seriously impressed!

I love this corded lightweight stick vacuum. The only thing I would change is the scented thing. I do not like the scent.

Strong suction in hard floors and carpet. It has 3 settings (hard floors, carpet or auto detect). Happy with my purchase.

I researched multiple corded and cordless stick vacuum cleaners before ultimately choosing this Shark PowerDetect Corded Stick Vacuum. Consumer Reports rated this particular model at the top of their list so that helped in making the decision. I LOVE IT!!! It's noticeably lighter than my old (20 year old) upright Dyson AND the suction is equivalent to it or better. I love that it automatically detects the flooring and switches the vacuum mode for you between carpet and bare floors. Its only irritation is that it will try to "eat" certain smaller carpets. Currently its appetite seems limited to a foam stress pad in my kitchen and two little shag carpets in my bathroom. For some bizarre reason, it's totally fine and works flawlessly with a small shag carpet in front of my side door as well as the small carpet in my dining room. Shark advertises that the roller brush is self-cleaning. It does not have bristles so you don't end up with hair and other fluffy things wrapped around the roller that need to be extracted with a scissors and plenty of tugging. I used to only use an attachment when vacuuming my bathroom floor in order to avoid getting hair in the roller. With the Shark, that is not necessary. It speeds up the cleaning process as I'm not constantly having to mess with attachments all of the time. Between my medium length hair and my two cats, the self-cleaning brush roll is a huge plus! It still picks up everything in its path including little bits of kitty litter that seem to get everywhere. The Shark gets under almost every piece of furniture I own. I used to have to constantly toggle between using the regular vacuum and its attachments with the Dyson. Now, I primarily only use the attachments when I want to clean the upholstery. As stated above, vacuuming goes much faster as a result. The vacuum is highly maneuverable. You don't have to struggle with getting it to pivot in and around objects and corners. Another great feature is that when you do want to clean upholstery or maybe your vehicle, the canister detaches from the stick and provides you with a handheld vacuuming option. About the only minus with the Shark is that it has just 2 places that hold attachments even though they give you 3 attachments. So, you have to leave one attachment behind in your closet or wherever. But again... not a big deal since I rarely need to use the attachments. The capacity of the dust bin canister is definitely much smaller than that of an upright vacuum cleaner. It’s about a ninth of the capacity of my old Dyson. This means that you will empty the Shark’s canister at least once during a cleaning cycle. But that process is super simple and the contents can be dumped out over a trash can. Takes just a few seconds. There are a couple of filters, HEPA and otherwise, that will need to be rinsed out periodically. But, again, it is easy and fast. As for having a cord, I really don't mind. Since it’s corded, you don’t have to worry about a battery wearing out. And you don’t have to worry about installing a recharging unit on your wall and waiting several hours for your vacuum’s battery to recharge. Your Shark will always operate at full power. As for having a cord, I have found that for a 2000 square foot home, I only have to plug my Shark in two locations in order to get to every inch of the house. I fully recommend the Shark PowerDetect Corded Ultralight Stick Vacuum and have already recommended it to family.

Shark is the only vacuum brand to own...excellent suction, the best and strongest, easy to manover and this model is fantastic with lights and odor control and best of all easy to empty!!! No bags!!! The extra attachments work great especially the pet attachment thats like a small brushroll handheld vacuum for furniture or stairs...wonderful! I have an earlier version of the corded stick vacuum that still works great and bought this one as it automatically goes from carpet to floor for cleaning pickup...love this feature, it really works fantastic! I also have a Electrolux central vacuum system up and downstairs in my home and the suction in that is as good as my Shark which is easier to take out and use so Shark is as good a suction if not better...you gotta love Shark!

The vacuum really sucks...lol...I had a Dyson for years but it got old and didn't quite work they way it used to. This has work amazingly well. Mostly a tile house now and it works so well moving around stuff and in the corners. The front roller gets a little clogged with dog hair but it is easy to clean. My wife and daughters hair does not get stuck which is a HUGE improvement from my Dyson. Not a lot of attachments which is the only downside for us but not enough to knock a star off. Well worth it, especially if you get on sale.

I bought this vacuum because my upstairs dyson died. So far I really like this one, it is smaller and lighter, and can fit into places that my regular vacuum couldn't. When I first was setting it up, i tried it down stairs on my family room carpet and it did a great job, maybe better than my downstairs animal dyson. I also like how the top releases and becomes a handheld. I haven't had any complaints about the cord lenth. The only disadvantage is that the dust collector is small and has to be emptied frequently. I'm not sure I'd want it for my main vacuum, but it works perfectly for my needs.

Love this vacuum and I hate to clean. It is lightweight, manuvers well and has great suction. Wanted one with a Hepa filter because of asthma. One thing I don't like is the odor eliminator disc. It smells gross and would surely set off an asthma attack. But you can just leave it out.

My dog has long hair and leaves it everywhere. This vacuum really does suck it all up. It also has a clever way of keeping the hair out of the brush roll, so I'm not stopping every few minutes to cut a tangle loose. Also, one pass seems to get most, if not all, of the hair. It's a tad heavier than I would have liked, which you notice on stairs. Still, I recommend it to anyone with a long-haired dog.

I really enjoy this vacuum. My second Shark. Great buy. Light weight. Picks up well. Not loud. Very happy.

If you don’t mind dealing with a power cord and a smaller dust cup, this vacuum is an outstanding value — powerful, efficient, and built to last. Best For: Small to medium homes or apartments Pet owners (because of the self-cleaning brushroll) People who want strong suction without dealing with charging batteries Allergy sufferers who need reliable HEPA filtration

I know what people say once they use this vacuum for the first time is why didn’t I get this 10 years ago. I love this vacuum. I don’t have to move my furniture right under the bed. Nice great suction automatically. Transfers from rugs to hardwood floors and then back up to rugs again it’s pretty amazing and it only weighs 10 pounds. I’m 70 years old and I’ve had six back surgeries so I needed something light. It’s wonderful you’d be crazy not to buy it sincerely, Wanda

I like this vacuum enough that I bought another one for our vacation home. It's very light weight and easy to move from level to level and room to room. The suction is strong and it easily converts to a hand held when needed.

Awesome suction! Because of this it will suck up throw rugs. The only problem I had was the cord came out of the outlet once and I had to be careful not to stretch the cord so this wouldn’t occur anymore. Also, when I looked underneath the vacuum, there was dog hair stuck in the comb that I had to pull out (which was easy enough to do), but no hair wrapped around the rollers. Love that it is lightweight, stands on its own, automatically adjusts for different types of floors, extra long cord, great edge pickup and takes up very little space to store. Overall, I definitely recommend.

Light weight, easy to maneuver and it has strong suction. Very happy with my purchase!

I love this vacuum. It's lightweight and does a great job. I especially love the pet hair attachment. Nothing else has ever worked as well. Unfortunately there was an issue and I was unaware of Best Buy's return policy of only 10 days! That really complicated my need for an exchange.

My wife uses these for her business due to the lightweight and excellent performance. The duo clean works well and the self cleaning brush does a good job keeping hair off the roll and into the dust bin.

This vacuum is so lightweight and the suction is powerful. My carpets and floors never looked so clean. Worth every penny!
