A: Yes, you can put this e-mount on an full-frame e-mount (FE) camera body...but you wouldn't really want to. There is going to be a significant vignette factor at all the corners. And you can tell A7-series bodies to crop down for a lens meant for an APSC-sized sensor...but why? It is best to stick to an e-mount for Sony 6x00 series and an FE lens for the A7 bodies.

For photo-primarily shooters I would suggest this excellent Sigma (rated the #2 in sharpness for the e-mount system, second only to the newer Sigma 16mm f1.4 wide angle lens for e-mount). There are lots of discussions about this lens on YouTube. There were once some focus-lag issues at its release, but this has been fixed with a firmware release. For photo+video users, the slight nod goes to the Sony, which lets in a little less light and is not quite as sharp, but DOES have image-stabilization that is handy for your video. The cost differential favors the Sigma and varies between $60 and $110, depending on whether or not Sony is offering rebates (this summer Sony has offered $50 rebates on the 35mm in May/June and now August). One final nod to the more expensive Sony: it is over an inch shorter, thus making it nice for walkabout, all-purpose use. It really is a tough call... But by all means this is a great lens for your Sony a6300.

Sharp and value priced
This lens is very sharp and takes great pictures (when paired with the right photographer). The Sony A6x00 series cameras make great use of this lens to focus quickly with minimal barrel distortion. This is a 45mm Prime equivalent when paired with the APSc sensor. It's a bit longer than the kit lens, but nicer in all other respects. Due to the 24M sensor on the A6000, it can be used in nearly every situation as you can crop 50% of the image and still get a nice, detailed image for an 8x10 print. It has a 52mm filter thread, a little larger than the kit lenses, but comparable to many 35mm lenses you may have sitting around. At 1.4, it's still fast, but focusing is a bit less accurate. 2.0 will give you nice background blur while still being easy to use without manual focus. The metal and plastic body look like it's made to last. I hope to be enjoying this lens for years to come.

The sharpest lens in its price range
When I bought this it was an exchange for the 50mm Sony 1.8f. I lived that lens but with a a6400 the 50mm was hard to get shots and had to step back considerably. The 30mm on the sigma is absolutely perfect for me. The pictures and 4k videos turn out incredibly sharp and good looking with fabulous bokeh. This is easily the best standard lens in its class and if you were on the fence like I was, get this lens you will not regret it.

Amazing value
This is a really good lens and amazing value for the price. It makes very sharp images. The only thing i dislike about this lens is the purple fringing is more noticeable then some of my other lenses but for the price to performance this lens is definitely worth it. I shot both pictures that i am uploading on this lens and i like both of them.
