The Sigma 35mm f/2 has quickly become one of my favorite lenses in my bag. It’s incredibly sharp, fast, compact, and the build quality is fantastic. The all-metal construction feels solid and premium without being overly heavy, and everything from the aperture ring to the focus ring just feels really well made. More than anything, I love what 35mm has done for the way I shoot cars. Not having a zoom forces me to move around, slow down, and actually build the frame instead of just standing there twisting a lens. It gives me enough width to bring the environment and people into the shot while still keeping the car as the hero. I find myself thinking a lot more about light, composition, moments, and the overall story instead of just getting another clean photo of a car. After shooting an entire car meet with it, I was hooked. It’s made photography feel a little more creative again and brought me back to the storytelling and art of shooting cars—which is exactly what I was hoping it would do.
