A: I would go with the 50mm it will give you more range. The 50mm is also a great portrait lens. The 50mm is a good walk around lens and would be a good way to go with only one lens. I hope this is helpful. Sigma lens have become very competitive with other major brand lens. I now own several and love them all. The ART line of lenses is incredible. Check out the comparisons on Utube. They also come with nice cases. Not always the case with Canon. The price is also better than Canon lenses

Perfect for wildlife, sports, travel and more, the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM is a compact, lightweight telephoto lens for EOS R Series cameras, offering a versatile zoom range that brings subjects closer with ease. The RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM is similar in size to the EF 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 IS II USM lens, and not only reaches to 400mm, but also has fast Nano USM focusing and up to 6 stops of Coordinated IS when used in combination with an EOS R series camera featuring In-body Image Stabilization, like the EOS R5 and EOS R6, or 5.5 stops with an EOS R/RP camera. Using a single Ultra Low Dispersion lens element towards the front of the lens group corrects chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range, making your images look crisp and colorful with minimal color blur. The RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens can also accept both the RF1.4x and RF2x tele extenders giving you the effective maximum focal length of 560mm and 800mm respectively. With a control ring that allows for quick setting changes, including shutter speed and aperture, the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens puts quality, convenience and control in your hands.

Utilizing SLD and FLD (fluorite) glass elements, this Sigma 340101 35mm f/1.4 DG standard lens minimizes axial and chromatic aberration while shooting with your compatible Canon digital camera. HSM (hyper-sonic motor) technology allows fast autofocusing.

The RF50mm F1.4 L VCM is part of the expanding Hybrid lens series, targeting a wide range of still-image and video shooters, with a combination of wide-angle coverage, a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and excellent image quality. On a full frame camera this lens gives you a Standard-angle look which has for decades been the most "all-purpose" focal length for photos and videos. On the video side, this lens really shines with a dedicated manual Iris ring, and a linear focus motor called a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) that is virtually silent. The VCM works in tandem with a Nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor) on the floating focus unit for incredibly fast autofocus. And finally, focus breathing is barely noticeable on this incredibly versatile lens, minimizing distractions for your viewer, and keeping your imagery and story as the priority.

Happy with this purchase. Tack-sharp, and I love the bokeh. I use it for indoor portraiture mostly, with my R5 (w/ adapter). I use it for outdoors too. It’s not a light lens, but because of what it can do, I don’t mind the weight. Thankful that Bestbuy carry it. I trust their products and customer service.

I debated whether to get this or the high end Canon equivalent. I was able to test the Canon at the same time I purchased this lens and I have to say, for a lens that is significantly cheaper, I feel I am getting better shots with this lens. The bokeh is amazing when shooting wide open. Beyond that, it is quick to focus, virtually silent and creates sharp, crisp images. I could not be happier with my purchase. If you are personally debating whether to get this lens or the Canon, I don't think you would be disappointed with this. Oh, here's another thing, Sigma offers a four year warranty for their lenses AND if you call them, you get to talk to someone quickly. They are a family based business and I find their level of customer service far superior to that of Canon's.

We have rented Sigma lenses in the past and ended up loving their performance in comparison to the Canon L series lenses for half the cost! So sharp, vibrant colors, etc. We now own a Sigma 30mm, and now this Sigma 50mm. 100% would recommended to any photographer who wants great quality, without having to spent too much money!
