Q: I just did a major upgrade on my nikon d5000 and switched to a canon d6 mark ii. I can only buy ONE lens. I will mostly be taking pictures of my kids, but want a good in general lens. Should I go with the 35 or 50? Is the sigma the best under $1000?

A: I would go with the 50mm it will give you more range. The 50mm is also a great portrait lens. The 50mm is a good walk around lens and would be a good way to go with only one lens. I hope this is helpful. Sigma lens have become very competitive with other major brand lens. I now own several and love them all. The ART line of lenses is incredible. Check out the comparisons on Utube. They also come with nice cases. Not always the case with Canon. The price is also better than Canon lenses
