[Employee of bestbuy] The design of these firepits creates a natural afterburner, so the bottom stays cooler based on the temp of the ambient air. The grass stayed cool, as expected. I would not plan on using the Solo Bonfire on anything other than dirt or concrete if you do not add this accessory. It is expensive, but it does the job well. It also fits inside the firepit when storing, so Kudos to that.
