The Sonos Play speaker is one of the rare products that genuinely blurs the line between portable convenience and high-end audio performance. It delivers sound quality that easily rivals—and often surpasses—many fixed, in-home speakers, which is impressive given its portability. What stands out immediately is the range. The speaker produces a full, room-filling sound with exceptional clarity across highs and mids, while still delivering deep, punchy bass that you typically wouldn’t expect from a unit this size. It doesn’t just get loud—it maintains balance and detail even at higher volumes, which is where many portable speakers fall apart. From a usability standpoint, it’s versatile enough to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor use, making it a true all-around solution rather than a niche device. The combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity also gives it an edge over typical portable speakers, allowing it to integrate into a broader home audio setup. Perhaps the most compelling part is the value. While it sits at a premium price point for a portable speaker, it competes with—and often outperforms—traditional fixed speakers in the same range, making it a strong buy for anyone who wants both flexibility and performance without compromise. Bottom line: if you’re looking for a portable speaker that doesn’t sacrifice sound quality, the Sonos Play is in a class of its own.

I’ve had this for about a week and a half so far, and it’s been excellent. I love being able to use voice assistants while I’m outside listening to music and not having to mess with my phone to change the music. It sounds great, and the battery is excellent. We listened to it for about 20+ hours the first weekend and it still had 12% battery remaining.

Typical Sonos quality, but surprisingly rich, full sound from a relatively small package. It's twice the size of the Roam, but 4 times richer sound. Both are great portables depending on the space and weight it requires

Great speaker. Good choice between the Move 2 and Roam. Nice bass sound and lighter than the move 2 to carry around.

Just got the new Sonos Play in white, and like my other portibles, Move and Roam, its a gret purchase. Full sound, portability with punch, and easy to ser up and play. Sonos just keeps getting better and better. This makes my 13th Sonos purchase!

This speaker sounds quite good, though I EQ'd down the bass a bit. It's very easy to set up and use, and so far has worked flawlessly. I use it two ways: (1) with Apple Music and (2) directly connected to my own music server.

Paired this with a second for a true stereo sound. These speakers pack a punch. A tad big to carry around but it’s nice to use around the house. Downside is the charger pad. Slow and ineffective. Just plug a usb straight into the speaker to charge.
