As a hobbyist who held onto my a6000 for years before finally pulling the trigger on the a6700, here is my honest take. The TL;DR The a6000 is still capable, but the a6700 feels like cheating. You don't realize how much you were fighting the old camera until you try the new one. The "Oh Wow" Upgrades **1. The Autofocus is actually witchcraft** On my a6000, I was used to the "focus and recompose" dance, or hoping the green box actually found the face and not the tree behind it. The a6700 just... knows. * **Real world difference:** I take pictures of my dog. On the a6000, I’d get maybe 1 sharp shot out of 10 when he was running. On the a6700, I can literally see the little box stick to his eye while he's sprinting at me. It’s sticky in a way that makes you feel like a better photographer than you actually are. **2. The Battery Life (Finally!)** The old NP-FW50 batteries on the a6000 were a joke. I used to carry three in my pocket just to survive a day trip. Over a year ago, I wanted to get into photography and for months I was researching on what camera to buy and came across the Sony A6700 camera body which was newly released July 2023, I made my purchase on June 2024. I skipped the beginner camera phase because I wanted something hybrid and where in 10 years from now this will still be a great camera and hold some value, Sony makes great products especially cameras. Its packed with so many great features and I'm still learning about. I mostly use it for photography and paired with a good lens it takes beautiful photos! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into photography or videography

So far I l’ve been enjoy this camera before I purchased this a6700 I’ve been using the Sony a6500 most definitely feels like a upgrade still a few thing I have to adjust too like new settings layout (which is great ) and picture profile features that are slightly different from what I usually use on my previous model. Battery life is amazing I usually go through multiple with this one I haven’t had to change the battery during one job ( about 4 hrs) Only 1 actual issue I had with this model I tried plugging up one of my gimbals ( zhiyun Weebill Lab ) type-c to type-c which was necessary to pair with camera and all of the sudden my camera display appeared a red screen with error code and lost all functionality couldn’t even power off the a6700 without taking the battery out ended having to return it to Best Buy and order a new one I haven’t even had the camera a whole month I did add the two year geek squad protection so that came in handy only thing is I would have to repay to add protection on the exchange however be sure to do research if you plan on hooking the a6700 to a gimbal that requires you to physically plug it up to make sure they’re compatible. My (zhiyun weebill s )worked fine other then that I’m still willing to give this a6700 another shot make sure to add your geek squad protection guys.
