This is an APS-C camera. Same sensor size and as many (or more) megapixels than a big APS-C Nikon or Canon DSLR. But this camera is minituarized to the max. It will quite literally fit in your pocket. Not a jeans pocket. But it will fit in the pocket of loose khakis, shorts, or any jacket. And you get stupendous image quality. I'd say it's first among any APS-C camera. You need to spend thousands to get a better camera. And this camera is at the sweet spot of value for money. At twice the price, it's worth it. For best results shoot RAW and spend the $100 for Lightroom and make your images the rival of anything, anywhere. If you shoot only JPG, your images will still look amazing. If you're on the fence about this camera, GET IT!

I upgraded from a Nikon coolpix camera and it was the best decision! I needed a camera that wouldn’t break the bank, but would give me quality video for vlogging. I’m glad I made the investment, it is user friendly and puts out quality video. The only issue is that it will occasionally overheat while filming. Luckily I primarily use it for product review and I shoot in small increments. I also was able to get more out of the still photos after taking a class at my Best Buy location.

Image quality far outweighs what little negatives I could find. Took this on a trip to D.C. and was blown away with the performance and practicality of this small bodied APS-C camera. Low light museum shots were sharp without flash using the kit lens. Video is smooth and sharp! Auto focus system is very snappy and the touch screen focus is a nice bonus. Only negative is the screen can be difficult to see at times in bright sunlight but I knew this prior to purchase. Wifi transfer to iphone worked great. Battery held up most of the day but you can always use a phone jumper battery to charge in your jacket pocket between shots if you don’t have a spare. Overall you’re getting same sensor and processing as the a6000 just trading a EVF for a touch screen and a slightly slower FPS shooting. With a good selection of lenes, this is a huge step up from phone cameras as well as nicer point and shoot cameras.

Love everything about it. The flip screen, the size, and definitely its features. Although I wish there was an easier way to transfer all types of the video setting and not just the mp4. Besides that its perfect for someone on the go like me that want that perfect photo.

I bought this camera a month ago and i absolutely love it. the quality is amazing, the size is slim, and the price is just right! the menu is a simple set up and it is very user friendly.

This camera takes amazing quality close up photos! I feel as though low light photos could be better and landscape photos could be better but I am a beginner and they all look amazing definitely better than my iPhone's camera!

I have had larger DSLR cameras in the past and decided to try this smaller mirrorless Sony. I wanted something with a screen that could be flipped to view from being in front of the camera. This has all the features I wanted, takes excellent video, and has an app you can use to control the camera from your phone. I would have given it 5 stars if the lenses weren't so high priced at Best Buy or if it had a microphone input.

One of the best purchases in terms of bang for your buck!! Love the Best Buy reps that did everything they could to help me save and also to make sure my camera needs were met. Great quality videos and pictures, and if your smart about it you can avoid overheating by cutting videos into parts !!

The Sony a5100 with the 16-50 lens is one of the best cameras on the market. It takes fabulous shots even with the kit lens. There is no better camera available for the money. It is also highly portable. With its impressive sensor, it borders on being a professional level camera. But it is also easy to use by the amateur.

Amazing quality photos. Outstanding ISO performance. Better finishes than A5000. Upgradeable. If you love to make adjustments, go for a A6000. This is a great quality upgradeable point and shot with manual adjustment capabilities.

Sony a 5100 work perfectly for a beginner, small but great.

Takes great photos at concerts we have attended and have had them printed on 8X12 up to poster size.

Purchased for my husband who is a gamer on the weekends. He wanted to upgrade his live stream quality and found a lot of positive reviews. He loves the crip clear image is provides and how light it is on a desk stand. We plan on purchasing two more for a all angle view.

Tool this on trip to Seychelles and South Africa and it exceeded my expectations. Didnt want to lug a big DSLR and needed something functional and easy to use. Fit in my purse with no issues. One drawback for me was the fact that the photos while in motion (some safari shots were a fail) were not good but I did get amazing still shots. Another drawback was getting the app and then setting up photo transfer. I got so frustrated I resorted to just the old school plug in and upload to computer (although this was super fast). Cherry on top would be a remote to take photos from afar.

Recently bought this camera and i got crystal clear pictures during my recent visit to Florida.

Love this camera! Perfect for a video, capturing a photo with many different scene options. I’ve even taken great photos on the beach at night and see everything clear!! Even the moon. Lens was not closing but warranty covered it quickly returned via mail. Takes 1 min to get from the camera to your phone with an app and Bluetooth being on!

This camera is incredible! There's a lot of detail in the pictures. It takes great pictures in lower light levels. One of my favorite things about it is that it can take several pictures per second, so you can just take several photos if you're unsure about getting a good shot.

I use this camera paired with elgato 4k to record tutorials on YouTube it produces professional results and very clear video.
