Great little blu ray player
JOHN Posted
I purchased this 2 weeks ago and it has performed flawlessly. Boots up very quickly. The remote is perfect size for me. The only drawback I’ve encountered is that when I attach my external hard drive to watch movies, the menu screen takes a bit of time to load, probably my fault because my movies are all in on file page and it is huge. Not a game changer for me. The picture quality is better than my last blu ray player. With this fantastic price I was able to add the Best Buy 4 year protection plan so I feel very confident I am good to go for a while now with a great quality blu ray player. Cannot beat this player for the price! Thanks Best Buy!!

Hello JOHN,
Thank you for choosing Sony!
We're excited to hear that your new BDPS1700U Blu-ray Player has performed flawlessly and delivered such fantastic picture quality at a great price! We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the external hard drive menu load time; grouping your large movie collection into smaller folders might help speed that up, but we are glad it does not take away from your overall experience. It is wonderful that the remote size is just right for you and that securing the protection plan gives you complete peace of mind. We truly value your support and hope you enjoy many movie nights ahead!
Best regards,

OLD SCHOOL FIX
MamaLama Posted
We have been having issues of buffering & sudden dropping of the downloaded viedos we have been trying to watch. Clearly internet issues, that Xfin can't seem to remedy. So, went old school & bought a Blu-ray for our DVD collection. Forgot how much better the quality is with the right equipment. My husband is ill, so it was important to find an acceptable solution. This is it.

This is a fantastic starter blu ray player for a very reasonable price! It works great, I got it refurbished and it works and looks like it’s brand new. The online ordering and pickup process made it super easy to get in and out with exactly what I was looking for. I’ve recently gotten into collecting physical media so this is a great way to be able to watch them and continue to grow my film collection. Highly recommend this player

Excellent BluRay / DVD player.

I finally had to replace my old Sony BluRay player. I do not have a 4K TV, so this model was in the perfect price point for me. I selected this model also because it has the audio connection options I needed to connect it to my home theater system. It works great and the sound and video quality are great. It is easy for my spouse and kids to operate as well. An excellent value and I would highly recommend this brand and model.

Versatile Blue-Ray, DVD and CD player
PamelaP Posted
I bought the little Sony 1700U Blue-Ray player to replace my 2014 Toshiba dvd/vcr player. The small size stacks easily above the cable receiver. Easy setup with accompanying HDMI cable. I like that I can pop in a music CD without having to load the multi disc player and the sound is great. So far the dvd playback is crisp and clear.

Wasn’t the one I wanted but…

This is not the DVD player I wanted. I wanted to buy a Samsung because it matches my TV and other things that I have. Sorry I bought the Sony. And it’s working just fine. I’m not having trouble with it. I haven’t used it a lot yet, but call me when I have it worked about this one.

Hi CarltonC,
We’re sorry to hear about the repeated issues with your player. This lock-up can sometimes be resolved by performing a power reset: unplug the power cord for two minutes, then hold the Power button on the unit while plugging it back in to force a hardware reboot. If the tray remains stuck and the unit is unresponsive, it may indicate a specific power compatibility issue, and we encourage you to contact our support team so we can investigate this further for you: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US
Thanks for choosing Sony.

Small, simple to operate and performs.
Lafish Posted
We wanted a small Blu-ray player to replace an older Sony that had stopped working after many years. This one looks almost identical to the older model, with a couple of different features, and like that one is supremely easy to use. We use it in a dedicated room where we listen to music and watch TV, and I like that it's unobtrusive and fits in a space in my hi-fi rack that almost looks like it was made for it. I would like a couple more buttons on the unit, so that you wouldn't have to do everything with the remote, but that's not a big deal. The price is right, the size is right, and the performance is right.

While we appreciate your valuable feedback regarding adding more physical buttons to the unit itself, we are so glad it is serving as an excellent, unobtrusive replacement for your older model.
Thanks for choosing Sony.
