Great product for a great price

This is a fantastic starter blu ray player for a very reasonable price! It works great, I got it refurbished and it works and looks like it’s brand new. The online ordering and pickup process made it super easy to get in and out with exactly what I was looking for. I’ve recently gotten into collecting physical media so this is a great way to be able to watch them and continue to grow my film collection. Highly recommend this player

I finally had to replace my old Sony BluRay player. I do not have a 4K TV, so this model was in the perfect price point for me. I selected this model also because it has the audio connection options I needed to connect it to my home theater system. It works great and the sound and video quality are great. It is easy for my spouse and kids to operate as well. An excellent value and I would highly recommend this brand and model.

We have been having issues of buffering & sudden dropping of the downloaded viedos we have been trying to watch. Clearly internet issues, that Xfin can't seem to remedy. So, went old school & bought a Blu-ray for our DVD collection. Forgot how much better the quality is with the right equipment. My husband is ill, so it was important to find an acceptable solution. This is it.

Versatile Blue-Ray, DVD and CD player

I bought the little Sony 1700U Blue-Ray player to replace my 2014 Toshiba dvd/vcr player. The small size stacks easily above the cable receiver. Easy setup with accompanying HDMI cable. I like that I can pop in a music CD without having to load the multi disc player and the sound is great. So far the dvd playback is crisp and clear.

This is not the DVD player I wanted. I wanted to buy a Samsung because it matches my TV and other things that I have. Sorry I bought the Sony. And it’s working just fine. I’m not having trouble with it. I haven’t used it a lot yet, but call me when I have it worked about this one.

Two weeks into using it,it stopped working. I received a replacement and it to stopped working. Both would not eject,the power would not turn off. I tried and tried physically and using the remote and both of them would not work.

This lock-up can sometimes be resolved by performing a power reset: unplug the power cord for two minutes, then hold the Power button on the unit while plugging it back in to force a hardware reboot. Small, simple to operate and performs.

We wanted a small Blu-ray player to replace an older Sony that had stopped working after many years. This one looks almost identical to the older model, with a couple of different features, and like that one is supremely easy to use. We use it in a dedicated room where we listen to music and watch TV, and I like that it's unobtrusive and fits in a space in my hi-fi rack that almost looks like it was made for it. I would like a couple more buttons on the unit, so that you wouldn't have to do everything with the remote, but that's not a big deal. The price is right, the size is right, and the performance is right.

Shipping was fast & player was packaged well. Setup was easy. It takes up very little space. Operation is easy. It plays well. The remote has tiny little buttons that I have to have my readers on to see. Overall, we are satisfied with our purchase.

This is me and my husband's second time in purchasing this model Blu-ray DVD Player from Sony and I tell you, it does not disappoint! This unit is slim, sturdy, sleek in design and quiet. We currently have one unit in our bedroom and living room. When playing our dvds we never hear any struggle coming from either units in order to play our movies like you would get from many other models which was very frustrating and costly...So again, this system is firm with hardware and not disruptive. Set up is easy! Literally one cable connecting the dvd player to the tv, the other cord to plug into your electric outlet and now your ready to watch your favorite movies, melting the stress away into relaxation. Overall, we are very happy with both our Sony Blu-ray DVD Players which I'm sure is going to last us and you for a very long time to come. Thanks Best Buy!

Blu Ray for home collection

Arrived quickly and undamaged. I tend to gravitate toward Sony products for my home theater as they tend to be reliable in quality and the aesthetic matching looks great. I needed a new blu-ray player for some old media that I have that you can't stream anywhere any more so at this price point the Sony was a no brainer. Setup was super easy right out of the box and we were watching our movie shortly after plugging the player in. This model doesn't have a lot of features or bells and whistles which is exactly what I want: It plays blu rays and DVDs and reads from USB drives. If you already have a smart TV and want something that works offline and doesn't get bogged down with extra programs and startup bloat then this is worth considering.
