I got the Sony BRAVIA CAM Model (CMU-BC1) and have been impressed with its performance and cool features. Let me explain further: The design is clean, sleek and compact, and the quality is great. It is a perfect addition to my 75 Sony BRAVIA TV and it is compatible with other 2022, 2023 and 2024 Sony TVs so make sure it is compatible first. The setup is easy, make sure your TV is up to date with its software, place the camera on top of the TV and open the lens cover, connect to the TV using the USB cable then finally on the TV access and turn on the BRAVIA CAM. The Camera comes with cable holders so you can manage the cable and I really like that it has a built-in camera cover for added privacy, which is a nice touch. One nice feature from this camera is its ability to optimize both picture and sound based on your position in the room. The Bravia Cam recognizes where you are and adjusts the TV's brightness and sound settings accordingly. I can also choose for it to emphasize on the voice. All of this ensures that you always get the best viewing experience, no matter where you are sitting. And I can see and hear it working when I move around the room. AS for the video Chat capabilities, the BRAVIA CAM also allows for video chatting on the big screen, which is a fantastic feature for staying connected with friends and family. The Full HD (1080p) resolution ensures clear and crisp video quality. We do not have children at the house but when they come over to visit, the proximity alert feature is a nice addition; it helps maintain an acceptable viewing distance by displaying a notification “keep viewing distance” if someone gets too close to the TV and it will not turn off until you get further back. Overall, the Sony BRAVIA CAM 2024 (CMU-BC1) enhances the viewing experience significantly. Its ability to adjust settings based on room dynamics and its additional features like video chat and Proximity Alert make it a worthwhile companion for the selected Sony BRAVIA TV owners.

The Sony Bravia camera is an intriguing addition to your existing Bravia TV. While it may not be essential for every TV in your home, it offers unique functionality that I feel is best suited for your home's primary television. Here are the key features and considerations: 1. Enhanced Bravia Experience: The camera aims to enhance your Bravia experience, and it succeeds to a certain extent. Notably, it automatically adjusts display brightness and sound based on your location in the room. This feature proves especially useful for larger TVs. 2. Auto-Dimming: One standout feature, and probably my favorite, is auto-dimming. When the camera detects that no one is in the room, it dims the screen or even shuts off the TV. However, a less appealing proximity notification activates ff you get too close to the TV. This notification morphs into a large display and obscures the screen. Thankfully, you can permanently disable this in the settings. 3. Simple Setup: Setting up the Bravia Cam is straightforward. Plug it in and navigate to your remote settings—the TV should detect the camera for configuration. 4. Video Chat Emphasis: The camera places significant emphasis on video chat and calls. It’s ideal for family conversations—think grandparents and siblings. However, for business calls that involve manipulating charts and graphs, it falls short. I don't see myself getting much use out of the video chat functionality for this reason, as I typically need to be at my computer for business calls. While learning about my Bravia Camera, I came across a claim that the Bravia camera can also double as a computer webcam. After testing on several computers, I can confirm this is not the case, as none of my computers recognized the camera. I think the most obvious feature, which doesn't exist, is use of monitoring security or children through Google Home/Nest. All compatible Sony Bravia's have Google T.V. integrated into the software. The logical direction should be to utilize this capability with Google Home, and allow the camera to double as a security or child monitoring device. As it stands, Google T.V. when placed in a "Kid's Profile" will disable any output ports, including USB and HDMI. This feature currently cannot be overridden, and is a significant obstacle, as it prevents the camera from operating if your Bravia is in a Google Kid's Profile." I would love to connect this camera to my existing Google Home account, and attach it to my child's Bravia as a monitoring device. Overall, I think it’s a very neat camera, and a great design for the right person. However, I don’t believe it’s a must have for every Bravia, but rather, a niche enhancement device that is best suited for the primary television.
