Kudos to Sony

Great sound bar system for a medium sized living room space. At times you can feel the rumbling bass as if you were in the movie theater with the subwoofer. You just have to mess with the settings on the small remote that it comes with to get it to the right sound. Overall Sony did well with the Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 6. Literally the only reason that I bought it was so that I can feel like I’m at the movies at home.

Cinematic Magic at Home

I absolutely love the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 with the subwoofer. It completely changed the way I watch movies and made everything feel so much more magical. The sound is rich, immersive, and honestly makes it feel like you’re sitting in a movie theater at home. The bass adds the perfect touch, the dialogue is super clear, and every movie night now feels extra cozy and special. I’m obsessed with this setup and would totally recommend it to anyone who loves a cinematic experience at home I’m

Disappointed in Sony again
Marc Posted
This is a good soundbar hampered by very poor software on the app and the unit itself. For context I’m using this with a Sony A80K OLED, so theoretically there should be no issues. It should just work right? But it doesn’t. First, the app keeps resetting the volume levels and other settings of the soundbar. Volume cranked all the way up, sub turned way down or all the way up, sometimes not connected at all. At first I thought it was just the app, but no, not so fast. Set it up with the app (and this is not optional) and then maybe just delete the app? Same things happen. Numerous resets of both app and soundbar have had zero effect. When it’s functioning properly it’s great. Big soundstage and voices are well placed and have proper tone if the sub is set to “0” which is its neutral setting. Right in the middle. Set the volume level settings for the sub in the main tab of the app and dial in the level further in the sound settings tab of the main settings menu. I prefer that at 0 too with a slight lift in the height channels. All these make the bar sound far above its modest sale price of $450. But what good is it if the soundbar can’t retain these settings consistently and resets them all at random. Basically anytime the bar gets powered off or is left to sit for a period of time then new content is played. Also for the record I’m using quality HDMI 2.1 cables from Audioquest and have all settings on the TV correct except for Bravia Sync because that’s one more feature that doesn’t work. The volume jumps in 3 level increments up and down and is extremely slow to respond. So yea, big potential but half baked product with unreliable software in the app and the bar itself. I’m past the return window so I’ll be calling Geek Squad about this and hopefully they’ll replace it or give me store credit since I got the 4 year extended warranty.

Hi Marc,
Thank you for considering Sony products.
We sincerely apologize for the issues you are experiencing with your HTB600 soundbar's software, which is preventing you from consistently enjoying its full potential.
To address the intermittent settings reset and connectivity problems you've described, we advise the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Firmware Update: Please ensure your soundbar is updated to the latest firmware version (1.057 or 1.058), which can be found at the following link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/sound-bars-home-theater-systems-sound-bars-surround-speakers/ht-b600/software/00353045
2. Factory Reset: After the firmware update, performing a factory reset is often necessary to clear any lingering software issues. You can find detailed instructions here: https://helpguide.sony.net/ht/2088/v1/en/contents/117_Resetting_the_Speaker_System_2088.html
3. Troubleshooting with Different Sources: To help isolate the cause of the problem, we also advise testing the soundbar with alternative sources, such as a Bluetooth device or another TV. This will help determine if the issue is with the soundbar itself or related to the current setup.

Sony - BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 - Not as expected!
SunilK Posted
I purchased the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 expecting a solid home theater experience, but it has been a bit mixed. The sound quality is decent, and it works fine for everyday TV watching and casual movies, but it’s not especially impressive if you’re looking for rich, powerful, or highly immersive audio. One of the biggest downsides is the connectivity and app experience—the system tends to disconnect, and reconnecting it can be frustrating and more difficult than it should be. I was also disappointed with the Dolby Atmos performance, which doesn’t seem to work well, especially in a room with a high ceiling, where the height effects are barely noticeable. Overall, it’s usable, but for the price, I expected more reliability and a better Atmos experience.

Hi SunilK,
We are so sorry to hear that your experience with the BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 has been mixed, especially regarding the app connectivity and the Dolby Atmos height effects.
To help resolve the connectivity issues, we recommend performing a full reset of the system to clear out any network glitching. You can find the exact walkthrough on how to do this here: https://helpguide.sony.net/ht/2088/v1/en/contents/117_Resetting_the_Speaker_System_2088.html.
Additionally, to improve the Dolby Atmos immersion and compensate for high ceilings, we recommend adjusting the acoustic fields manually within the app. You can find the official steps for optimizing these settings here: https://helpguide.sony.net/ht/2088/v1/en/contents/022_Adjusting_Sound_Quality_2088.html. Which will guide you through maximizing the surround sound presence.
Thanks for choosing Sony.

Great sound bar. Little pricey for the type of sound. Little less quality sound then my 3 year old Samsung Dolby atmos sound bar. But good for people who don’t want to have speakers in the wall and wired behind them

Hi TroyG,
We feel privileged to know that you chose our soundbar to achieve a clean, wire-free setup in your home! We understand that the simplicity of a premium, all-in-one system is a major priority for those who want to avoid the clutter of in-wall wiring while still enjoying a high-end aesthetic.
While we are sorry to hear the sound profile hasn't quite surpassed your previous experience, we would love to ensure you are getting the most out of your Sony hardware. This model features Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force Pro Front Surround technology, which are designed to create a vast, cinematic soundstage from just the bar itself. We recommend checking the Sound Field Optimization settings in the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app to tailor the acoustics perfectly to your specific room dimensions.
Thank you for choosing Sony to be part of your home audio experience.
