Customer Ratings & Reviews

The installation process was straightforward and the drive worked exactly as expected. It allows me to use physical game discs and Blu-ray movies without any issues. The design matches the PS5 Slim perfectly and performance has been reliable. A great option for anyone who wants the flexibility of both digital and physical media.

This disc drive was easy to install and worked right away with my PS5 Slim Digital Edition. It reads game and movie discs quickly, runs quietly, and fits perfectly with the console’s design. It’s a great option if you want the flexibility to play physical games without buying the standard console. Highly recommended!

The PS5 Disc Drive is an absolute game-changer for anyone who wants to maximize their console’s versatility. I originally opted for the PS5 Digital Edition for its sleek design and cost-effectiveness, but adding the disc drive has transformed my gaming and entertainment experience. Installing the disc drive was quick and straightforward, blending seamlessly with the console’s design—it looks like it was always meant to be there. The performance is flawless: physical games load smoothly, and the drive operates quietly, even during long gaming sessions. What I love most is the flexibility this add-on provides. I can now enjoy my collection of physical PS4 and PS5 games, borrow titles from friends, and take advantage of discounts on physical discs that often cost less than digital downloads. As a bonus, the drive also supports Blu-ray playback, turning the PS5 into a complete home entertainment hub. For anyone who purchased the Digital Edition but finds themselves missing the option for physical media, the PS5 Disc Drive is an essential upgrade. It combines the best of both worlds—digital convenience with the power of physical media. 5/5 stars! Highly recommended.

Super easy to connect everything took less than 3 min to do everything and works great... now my digital ps5 can finally play discs.

I bought this drive for the PS5 Pro, and I definitely wish the console would have came with it instead of needing to buy it separately. In the end that was Sony's choice, maybe the PS5 Pro price would have been $750 or more instead if it did, but in any case it is what it is. I'm glad we at least we still have the option to still use physical discs for now as going digital continues taking over. As for reviewing the disc drive itself, it works great. I had to watch a video of the installation since the bottom plate of the PS5 Pro takes some force to remove in order to put this on, and I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. It comes with longer plastic legs to pop on for using the PS5 Pro horizontally, so I have no need for the vertical stand they also sell separately. I bought several games on disc that are much cheaper than what they cost digitally, and I am using GameFly to rent PS5 disc games too. I've already saved the monetary value of how much this drive costs in these few days of having the console, and over time I'm sure I'll save even more money by taking advantage of discs. At this point I'm not sure if the eventual PS6 will have a disc drive or the option of attaching a separate one like we got here, keeping my fingers crossed that physical media will keep hanging on!

This is a must have for the PS5 pro so that you have a disc option if you don’t plan to do all digital games. Pretty simple to install.

Arrived on time, easy to install. I'm so happy to be able to use discs for my PS5, it's a little more cost effective for my partner and I to buy games after the price goes down. But the main reason I wanted this was so I could transfer some PS4 games over without having to repurchase them as digital copies. This drive was expensive, but worth it.

I bought this disc drive just a week before the news came out about Sony planning to phase out physical discs, but that honestly doesn’t change its immense value for me at all. My primary goal was to take advantage of the massive selection of free PS4 and PS5 games available at our local public libraries. Having this drive lets me play tons of great physical games without paying a dime for each title, meaning it pays for itself almost instantly. Installation was seamless, it runs quietly, and it’s an absolute must-have accessory!

Functional disc drive for a digital console. Works without issue, easy installation. Managed to grab it before the 2028 announcement.

It’s actually a great addition to my ps5 since the disk reader versions costed so much more. It was a life saver to get this and I use it all the time I haven’t taken it off once it does take the disks backwards though

Advantages: Convenient for using disks. Works properly, quickly, allows you to buy not only a digital copy of games, but also a physical one, which allows you to change the disc to another if you play a game. Thanks to the store for fast and high-quality delivery

I use it everyday since my ps5 does not have it and it’s nifty when having friends to share discs with!

It really expanded my son's game library. He was able to get it install without any issues. No issues so far and it's been a few months.

This plug-n-play disc drive is ridiculously easy to install. Honestly, unplugging the PS5 took longer than the install. No tools needed — pop off the old skin, slap in the disc drive, snap on the new skin, let the PS5 do its update… BAM Disc drive is live and Blu-ray/DVD is officially back in action.

It works amazing, previously sold my ps4 expecting to buy a ps5 pro, new I could play my old catalog of physical media from ps4. It’s been great ever since. No issues attaching it, pretty simple process, runs great, plays great. For those who love and still preserve physical media, collectors edition.

Picked one of these up for the PS5 Pro. Easy to install, works great. Includes the white cover plate, works for the Slim models as well.

I got this for my PS5 Pro because i have a collection of physical games. PROTECT PHYSICAL MEDIA!! We need the option for discs so im flad this product exist. I just wish i came with the PS5 Pro. I wish it wasnt $80 also. It is very easy to install. Just take off the back panel on the PS5 Pro and it clicks on like a lego. Once you turn on your system with it installed you do need to install some software before you use it but it is incredibly fast.

Easy installation , plug in and play. Bought for my ps5 pro works flawlessly.

I bought it for my playstation pro, cause, long live physical media. And I thought i was gonna have to buy any type of tool to install it into my ps. But no, it was so easy and effective that even in the rush i was (cause it was my sons birthday i had to buy the cake) i read the instructions and got it ready in less than 5min. Ready good thing to buy

Like the easy setup, works well and isn’t too loud compared to a disc ps5
