The radio stations are clear. The music sounds always clear most of the time. When not clear I change to classical music. I usually listen to jazz on this radio. I can only get jazz and keep it if I get it in the morning if not it sounds cloudy.

This radio is just fantastic! It's a throwback to yesteryear! I had a transistor radio hanging from the handlebars of my bicycle years ago ... This is excatly that! Durable, sufficient, reliable, fun ❤️

This product was a gift for my mom, who practically grew up on the old "transistor' radios. She uses it to listen to ballgames, music and news. The size is compact enough to carry in a jacket pocket, or in a bag, or even on a bike. The sound quality is great, not "tinny" or full of static. Battery life is good for the amount of time this gets used. It also has an earphone jack, for private listening and can accommodate SONY headphones that also produce a good sound while the radio is connected to the headphones. Tuning to stations and channels is easy, and I would definitely recommend this for a senior, or anyone who wants to take a small radio with them to places like a beach, picnic, or even to have while in the shower (outside as the unit is not waterproof). It is a great radio, and the price is definitely worth it.

I grew up in the 70s when a pocket transistor radio was a great way to carry around your favorite Top 40 station and the hits of the day. 40+ years later, there are so many other ways of doing that - and I love the tech advances and choices - but radios like this still have a very valuable place in my lifestyle. Bought this to replace a failing S10MK2 - I stand on the side of those who judge it to be a very worthy replacement to that terrific radio. The sensitivity and selectivity are both excellent - no less of a performer than the previous model in that aspect. Audio - very pleasant. Battery life - excellent. Tuning/volume controls are crisp and responsive - and I do find the battery life/tuning LED's to be useful features. I'm a ham op - have dx'ed the AM dial for decades - owned terrific radios from Sony/Sangean/RS/Kenwood/Icom/Yaesu/GE/CCrane/etc --- and am pretty familiar with what 540-1700 sounds like on radios good and bad. This is a good one - I'm glad I made the purchase - it has great ears and performance - and is a lovable piece of gear that is often my go-to choice even with a nice lineup of internet radios, 'higher-end ' AM/FM portables, smartphones, etc. FM performance is quite strong as well. I'm just not as much of an FM listener - so I didn't focus on that -- sorry, since I know that's where 90% of listeners are nowadays. AM OR FM tho, this little radio is superb, and I highly recommend it! And - seeing as how a simple radio is becoming so hard to walk into a store and find, thanks to Best Buy for making it available - and at a very competitive price.

We bought this portable radio for my mother-in-law and so far she loves it. It's simple to operate, sounds decent, and tunes well. All in all a good purchase. Recommended.

I use it frequently and it never fails me. I listen to the news late at night and early in the morning. I keep the volume low and I can hear the news clearly. It does not need batteries very often either. It is small enough to be easily carried in my purse, too.

Very clear sound, good range antenna. Small and portable and fits easily in car glove box or door compartment. I bought it because speaker wires act up in one of my cars and sometimes need to hear traffic report. Works great and priced right..

It is so hard to find a plain old AM/FM radio these days. This SONY radio was a perfect find (though it took myself and three Best Buy employees to figure out where they were stocked in my local store!). Good volume and clear output from the speaker. Very strong antenna strength--in tidewater Virginia I can pick up 700WLW from Cincinnati, just in time for baseball season; Go Reds! My only qualm is that the antenna only pivots on one axis; it would be nice if the antenna could rotate. As it is, you sometimes have to rotate the whole radio to get the strongest signal possible; which obviously isn't a huge problem with a unit this small. The radio is larger than other portables I've had in the past, but is sturdy and still fits in a coat pocket, cargo pocket, or toolbelt. A perfect radio for working around the house or taking to a job site.

Presentation/Availability: Product was well packaged with no broken/opened box. There were many available at the store. Performance: I purchase this and sent it to a loved one to Puerto Rico to use after hurricane Maria hit. It does exactly what I needed from this device. It works perfectly in both AM/FM bands. The sound is very good even at high volume. Batteries last a lot which surprises me. And is Sony, so I know is a good quality product. Customer service: EXCELLENT customer service. I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked through the door. Then other employee asked what I needed. He had knowledge of what I was looking for and helped me to get to the right area for getting my product, which I did quickly. THANK YOU!!!!

I bought this small portable AM/FM battery operated radio for my Hurricane preparedness kit. It worked great and was able to easily tune into both AM/FM stations with the antenna provided. The audio was clear and loud for it's size. It operates on two AA sized batteries (not included). Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.

This radio requires only 2 AA batteries and can work for months. The sound is loud enough. Tuning is easy, and it catches all local FM stations. It seems a bit bulky for a small radio but you kind of getting used to it. Really practical buy.

Needed a basic am/fm radio for our 90 year old Mother to use. good reception, very easy to use, we did not want digital because it would be too hard for her to use, it is dial tuning so that's great. Inexpensive and worked for what we needed.

I got this mostly for listening to baseball while at work and outdoors and it works fine. A pair of AA batteries last forever and I'm not using up data on my smarphone account. Best of all, while not stereo, the headphone jack delivers audio to both sides of a set of earbuds, I like that.

This AM/FM radio brings me back to when I was a kid listening to baseball games 300 miles away before going to sleep. Sony makes the best portable AM/FM radio (IMO). The sound is good and the reception is great. I live in Western PA and I'm getting stations from NYC, Cincinnati, and other places 400-600 miles away (at night). My only con is there is no lighted dial, so at night you can't see what station you'r eon.
