As an owner of the RX 10 IV, I have been waiting several years for the Mark V to come out. I am a hybrid shooter and I think this is the ultimate social media/travel camera. Yes, it still has the same 24 to 600 mm lens as the mark III and the mark IV but now we get 4K 60 you can get 4K 120 with a crop and the stabilization is that much better. I have also noticed the photos and video image quality have been improved. We also get the modern day Sony menu system, and that is a huge bonus on top of that, we now have a redesign form factor to compensate for a modern aesthetic, and most importantly, a larger battery and support of UHS II cards. Are there some compromises on this? Absolutely. For instance you’re looking at a price tag of $2400 USD but I think if you fit this product’s niche, this is an extremely tempting camera. They also nerved the slow and fast modes, but you can still get 4K 120 stop down to 30 FPS or lower. Yes that feature was available on the Mark IV but the image quality is subpar and you might as well get a different product for high speed frame rates like the current GoPro mission 1. They also didn’t give it a flip screen for selfie/vlogging but oh well. At the time, Best Buy was offering 36 months financing to which I was like honestly I could do that.
