50 pounds of heart thumping sound.... Wow.... Sony has been developing these speakers and they keep delivering. I have an ULT Field and this ULT Tower just ups that anty. Rear plug ins allow for Mic, mic in (multi 3 pin XLR type of plug, standard mic jack, RCA LR jacks, USB a and USB c. This will not take a guitar. Also it will not connect to any older ULT type of speakers. I tried and looked up if it was compatible but they do not connect to each other for party type of connections. No connection for guitar so be aware of that. I did not want to try and plug in my guitar to the mic as it might blow out the speaker due to imbalance in gain. So connecting via Bluetooth is fine with phone and PC. I pulled up my DJ software and it did just fine ... Bluetooth didn't set to have lag. If you want to eliminate lag do direct hardwire plug in. Bass is super deep with the ULT button. Also just the shear volume is huge.... You can probably go deaf if you run this this long and loud enough. Also another good thing is that this can be operated by battery. So you don't need to keep it plugged in. The 50 pounds is heavy .... When it arrived at my front door I had to shlep it into the house and follow the directions to get it out of the box. So be aware of the size of the speaker that you buy. Good thing is it has wheels to roll around. Just be careful as I almost dropped it a few times getting it over bumps and stuff. Lights are a great plus. Also the Sony connect app is easy to use. Lots of features and options to pick from. Overall great party speaker. Super loud. Super portable. Lots of connection options.

BOTTOM LINE: The ULT Tower-7 (SRSULT700) is a beast that wants to be unleashed to realize its fullest potential. Meaning, this system was designed to be played loud “pushing air” in large rooms or outdoors to truly appreciate the vast soundstage that can be projected. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds excellent at lower dB levels, but this may not be the system for your everyday casual background music listening. Sony makes appropriately sized portable speakers (example: ULT Field 5 or 7) that fill that niche. And because this is quite large, you need the space to accommodate its significant footprint. Finally, recognize the TOWER-7 appears to be primarily designed, and is sonically capable, with replacing a DJ’s individual component sound system, especially when used in pairs and coupled with a high-end DJ Mixer. RATING: After using in both home and outdoor environments daily for the past week with all of the source inputs, I believe the Sony ULT TOWER 7 Party Speaker earned itself a solid 5-Star Rating. And it absolutely earned a top “Party Speaker” designation that will give competitors a run for their money. TL;DR BACKGROUND: I have been an audiophile since my first entry level stereo system my dad gave me in 1964 so I would lay off his Scott 340 Stereomaster. Over the years I have been through numerous stereo system brands, BT systems, sound-bars, coupled with my electric guitars and amplifiers obsession. Having the opportunity to demo and review this new Sony ULT TOWER 7 Party Speaker was an immediate “Yeah”. SETUP: My initial depressing of the top power button began the voice alert stating the battery was at 20% and required charging. No problem, just plugged in the power cord and we are off to the races. Second button I pressed was the BT to pair with my Pixel-10 phone that connected quickly. I was then able to demo streaming music from my Sirius XM account. ULT MODES: The 4 modes are available by depressing the ULT knob that will cycle through the APP assignable modes, while rotating will control the volume. Note that this system is mega-bass focused with 2 ULT options taking the low end to beyond the imagination. The Flat & Live modes produce a reduced punch, but they still get the job done and are more attuned to producing traditional EQ results. APP: Here is where the magic happens. You can configure each of the 4 modes with a 10-band EQ to your personal requirements. Very Sweet! If there was only one APP feature, this is the one for me. But leave it to Sony to include features for advanced lighting options, karaoke add-in sounds, remote on/off with AC power, dual BT pairing, MIC with echo, and input source selections. Overall, this is one of the better designed full feature applications. What I could not locate is a way to update the firmware that might only be upgradeable by way of the USB port and downloading code the from Sony website. SOUNDSTAGE: As previously mentioned, this system sounds excellent with the ability to fine tune to your preferences with the APP Equalizer. Mounting the two mid-range drivers forward facing is my preference. (I have a competitor’s system with side facing mid-range speakers that is bass & treble focused lacking mids that I never bonded with.) The large bass driver is bottom ported and will thump the floor not only hearing bass but also feeling bass. I am so impressed, that I am considering a 2nd unit and run in true stereo 8 feet apart. MIXER: There are sufficient inputs allowing most all party situations from the included sources. Note that selecting a source other than BT will not allow both BT and the other source simultaneously. You can use the MIC input with BT and any other source. I really feel this system is designed for a DJ in mind who would be pairing with a mixing control unit with dual Tower-7’s. BUSKING: Because there is only one MIC input you cannot use this system for street busking accompanying yourself with a guitar without additional hardware. Using an acoustic guitar with built in preamp, the MIC input sort-of works and can accompany BT streaming. Electric guitars will require pre-amplification and technically should not be used in the MIC input due to EQ and impedance mismatches. I was able to use a Line-6 POD output driving both RCA inputs with a microphone plugged into the MIC input. That works, but again, additional hardware is required. This design tells me this system is Party & DJ focused and not performing musician focused. To be fair, the Sony website does not state this system will directly support an “instrument”. Although the Best Buy Features currently mentions “instrument” that could in error. LIGHTING: OK, I will admit, I am not a “party light” enthusiast. But this system’s lighting does capture my attention and I have been using this feature more than I expected. Note the APP has options to sedate or accentuate the overall LED effects. BUILD: At 50 pounds, handles are required. Four handles located on each corner along with the top rear built in handle. The two rear wheels will assist moving on hard flat surfaces, but tend to drag on even short nap carpets. The hard plastic (20% recycled) enclosure appears to be road worthy as long as it is not dropped. Lastly, the top phone slot is a nice touch worth mentioning. UNBOXING: The only negative encounter was with the shipping box, or should I say the courier. This is one heavy speaker weighing in at 50 pounds. Picking up at a local store would be acceptable in the original packaging. But when being shipped to your location, reality is it should have been doubled boxed. Reason being, the unit I received had both physical puncture damage to the original box with damage to internal Styrofoam blocks. After removing the unit from its box and packaging materials, the only damage found was the rear battery compartment cover had broken free from its top mounting taps. I was able to resolve by removing the single cover screw, realigning the cover top locking taps and verifying the rubber seal was seated properly conforming to the IPX4 water protection rating.

Not just wow, but literally makes me love music even more and has me searching for more occasions and opportunities to listen to music with it. More than one wow too, although the other wow came in the form of, 'wow is this thing heavy!'. It's easy to see why though. You're not going to get the type of sound that this ULT Tower is capable of in something that's lightweight. When I first unboxed this speaker, I noticed the card that said there's a demo that it can play by just holding the ULT button down for a couple seconds. Usually I wait to fully charge my electronics before ever hitting the power button, but in this case, I couldn't resist, especially since I didn't need to set anything up or even connect my phone. That's when the WOW came. I was immediately blown away by the sound., and with that first impression, it was time to let it fully charge and play some music from my own playlists. So I connected my phone via bluetooth, which was easy with no issues at all, and tried some of the available settings built in to the speaker. First, the reason for the initial wow wasn't just from the deep bass that I could feel in my chest (which I absolutely LOVE), but also from how clear the sound comes through. It may be one tower, but with multiple speakers inside, it produces crisp sound without any flaws that allow you to pick apart all the little details in your favorite songs. That's with the preset EQ settings also, which you can go through by just pressing the ULT button. Speaking of the ULT button (with dial), I was worried at first that it might stick out too much or get in the way somehow, but I'm happy to say that it doesn't. As far as controlling the volume, this is the best way to do it. It's not only easy, but the way Sony integrated the lighting to show the volume level is ingenious. It's a simple thing that I haven't seen in other party speakers that I've had, so there's no guessing what level you're at. It's not all perfect though, my one complaint, or nitpick really, with the ULT button is that when going between eq modes, it only plays a quick DJ 'scratch' sound between modes, with a different number of scratches for each mode. They happen so quick though it's easy to miss and they don't really specify the mode in a way that makes sense. That takes me to the Sony Sound Connect App. Although not necessary, it's useful to get. That ULT button mode rotation I just talked about? You can set which modes you want available in the app. So if you only like 2 of the modes and don't care for the rest, you can take those out of rotation. Most importantly though, the app lets you fine tune the eq to whatever suits your taste. You also get better control of the lighting, and let's be honest, this is a party speaker, that you will probably use at parties, and the last thing you'll want to do is mess around with things like lighting and eq modes directly on the speaker while it's blaring out music! Going back to the tower itself, it has some other nice features built in. Besides basic controls, with the various available inputs, it allows you to select the source so that you can have more than one thing connected at a time. There's also some basic controls for Karaoke since you can't have a true party speaker without letting people sing their hearts out! Besides functionality, there's practicality built in to the unit. As heavy as it is, Sony did a pretty good job adding things to help with that. There's wheels for it to roll on, along with a hand grip meant for you to be able to grab onto it while rolling. If you don't want to roll it, or are moving it where there isn't a good surface to roll on, they built in what are basically dumbbell handles with one on all four corners. This style handle makes it not only feel tough, but also makes it more comfortable lifting it up, whether by yourself or with someone. My only complaint however, and again, this is more of a nitpick, is that it would have been nice to have some sort of extendable handle when using the wheels. As tall as I am, I have to hunch down to use the hand grip to roll it, which makes it a bit uncomfortable. I do have one last nitpick, which is a common one I have for a lot of speakers and things like this, I wish they added a spot to store the power cord. On a positive note, the battery lasts a pretty long time. I used this speaker for a lot longer than any other speaker I've had and it still had plenty of battery life left. If you're looking for a party speaker that can easily fill a room without getting crazy in size and price, this ULT 7 is the way to go. In my case, this is now my primary speaker that I use at home. Even when I don't need to a fill a huge room, or don't need the thumping bass, this still puts out such great quality sound that nothing else I have really compares. The few little nitpicks I mentioned are the only negative things I could find, and even then it was a stretch.

I am utterly impressed with this speaker. It is truly one of the most versatile speakers I have ever reviewed, with more capability than I think 99% of users will ever need to make full use of! It checks the obvious box by offering simple, straightforward Bluetooth connectivity right out of the box. I was able to connect my phone to the speaker via Bluetooth, and right away I could enjoy my tunes without any hiccups! For more advanced users, it has Microphone/Guitar inputs (1/4” jack), XLR inputs, RCA Audio Input for mixers and CD players etc., and USB-A and USB-C ports for charging devices and or hooking up media storage devices like flash drives! However you intend to deliver audio from this speaker, it will let you do so! The sound of this ULT Tower 7 speaker is phenomenal. One of the highest compliments I can give it is that it succeeds at being good for both low-volume and, of course, high-volume listening! I enjoy it not being an overwhelming source of audio and music when my wife and I are just spending a quiet evening in our living room after our daughter has gone to bed, listening to some music on rather low volume. When it comes time to turn up the volume, WOW, just wow. It makes our $2000 surround sound soundbar, bass, and rear speakers sound dull in our living room! I am in awe of how much range and quality Sony was able to get from this speaker through its design. At loud volumes on the ULT 1 setting (which emphasizes deep bass), we are able to get some impressive low frequencies captured on classic dubstep songs like Bangarang by Skrillex and Sirah as well as First of the Year (Equinox). On the FLAT preset which we can swap to simply by pressing the ULT button on the front, we are able to get a more level listening experience that is better suited to our quiet evening music sessions. Between the 4 Presets in this speaker that you can get to in the Sony Connect App or manually on the speaker itself by scrolling through the ULT button changes, you can really complement almost any audio experience you would want to use a speaker like this for. I should mention that the Sony Connect App lets you customize tons of features, including whether you want to remove one of the ULT button settings or have all 4 going! At 50 pounds and more than a couple of feet tall, this speaker is no lightweight. It has some built-in handles and wheels, but I would have really liked to see an extendable luggage-style handle, as some portable speakers in this size range offer. There just isn’t a really easy way to grip this when you are rolling along, even on flat terrain. Truly not a big deal but just don’t expect to wheel this down to the edge of a lake or something on a dirt path with ease. As for portability, the battery life of this speaker is impressive, and there are even features in the Connect App to help you do things like trigger STAMINA mode, which tames down the sound effects and lighting settings to extend your battery life further. Additionally, there is a battery care option that I think is a great add that allows you to reduce the maximum charge that this allowed to charge to (similar to what many phones and tablets now have) which may allow the portable battery on this speaker to have a greater lifespan overall if you are planning on vacillating between keeping it plugged in a lot versus unplugged for more portable use away from wall outlets. One random little gripe I have, speaking of charging this speaker, is the power cord. I really wish they could have made the charging port just a little larger and utilized a more standard barrel plug charger that tends to be pretty standard in the industry for numerous devices from gaming consoles to PC power supplies. I have tons of these cords around my house and having to keep track of this more specific and less popular cord from Sony seems like a bit of a miss to me. Overall, this speaker is a phenomenal electronic accessory. It is hard to convey just how powerful and room-filling (if not yard-filling) the audio this speaker can deliver. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this and would even one day consider two of them, since these Sony speakers have the easy Party Chain feature that allows you to have them hook up for synchronized audio across multiple devices! Altogether, this is a 5/5 star speaker!

I have been using the Sony ULT Tower 7 Speaker for a few days, and this speaker truly rocks. Setup was extremely easy. I plugged it into the wall to charge, downloaded the Sony Sound Connect app, connected it to my device, and I was ready to go. The sound is powerful and clear, fills a large space, and the bass has impressive depth that I can genuinely feel. The Sound Connect app is one of my favorite features because it gives me extensive control directly from my phone. I can customize the 10-band equalizer, adjust the lighting effects, manage Party Chain, control karaoke features, and fine-tune the overall listening experience. I also like having multiple sound modes. ULT1 delivers deep bass, ULT2 provides a punchier bass response, FLAT offers a balanced sound, and LIVE creates a more immersive, concert-like experience. The 360-degree sound performance is excellent. The combination of a large woofer, mid-range speakers, and front and rear tweeters distributes sound throughout the room, making this speaker ideal for parties and larger gatherings. The synchronized party lighting adds another dimension to the experience, especially when entertaining. Connecting a microphone was also incredibly simple, and the microphone sound quality is excellent. The wide selection of connections makes the ULT Tower 7 extremely versatile. It includes XLR, RCA, USB Type-C, microphone and guitar inputs, making it suitable for karaoke, live instruments, DJ equipment, computers, and other audio sources. Despite its size and power, Sony has also made portability practical. The four integrated carrying handles and upgraded rear wheels make moving the speaker considerably easier. Its IPX4 water resistance also provides added confidence when using it for outdoor gatherings. Battery life is another major advantage, offering up to 30 hours of playback. I also appreciate the fast-charging capability, which can provide up to three hours of playback from only a 10-minute charge. Overall, the Sony ULT Tower 7 is an outstanding speaker that combines powerful bass, room-filling sound, excellent connectivity, extensive app-based customization, portability, and impressive battery life. Whether I am listening to music, hosting a party, using a microphone for karaoke, or connecting additional equipment, it delivers a powerful and highly enjoyable experience. I am very impressed with it and would definitely recommend it.

The Sony ULT Tower 7 wireless party speaker is your next party speaker! This is from Sony’s refreshed ULT tower speaker lineup and it packs a punch with improved bass and clarity. The Sony ULT Tower 7 wireless party speaker packs a woofer, two mids and four tweeters (two in front and two in back). This combination of speakers hits a great balance of bass and vocals for any party that wants to liven things up. The Sony ULT Tower 7 wireless party speaker is one of three party speakers from the ULT Tower lineup and sits in the middle of the bunch. It’s a decent weight coming in at around 70lbs and can be easily transported due to the wheels provided. I also love the two grab handles on the top of the unit which are textured to provide extra grip. Overall build quality is good and what you should expect from a Sony product. Controls are simple, on top of the speaker you’ll find a power button, Bluetooth button and a play/pause button. Then there’s the ULT button located on the front of the speaker that can be pushed to change sound modes and rotated to adjust volume. The Sony ULT Tower 7 packs in about 30 hours of battery life. Some other neat features about the speaker is all the inputs that easily allow you to connect mics, laptops and dj equipment for your next party. Those inputs include XLR, RCA, USB Type-C and a mic input. You can have so much fun at your next party with the Sony ULT Tower 7. Let’s talk about the sound. This unit really delivers here as it is really loud in the bass department. It surprised me when i played my first track that, that much bass was coming out of this unit. Another thing I like about this speaker is the sound connect app which lets you control everything and also very importantly it has an adjustable EQ. So many times I’ve had a wireless speaker that was stuck with the default sound profiles that come with the speaker not here!

I have a rural property, a 15' fire pit, and a lot of opportunities for outdoor entertaining, so what better entertaining addition than the Sony ULT Tower 7 Party Speaker? TL;DR - This is the best speaker sound, depth quality, and features to size ratio I have experienced. This is not the under powered speaker where you can't hear anything if you are further than 25' away. This also isn't the speaker where it sounds like someone put an amp on a laptop speaker. This speaker has serious depth that goes the (literal) distance.  Pros: Setup is simple Wireless and the battery life is amazing Connectivity options Durability & Portability Light and sound effects are on demand, not a detractor if you're just here for the music, but also can be dialed up to 100 for karaoke nights Love all 4 sound modes, at least one mode is a perfect fit for every space I've used the speaker in Cons: Not really 360 degree sound, it does diminish as you move to the side and rear of the speaker. In the box is the speaker, power cord, and paperwork. Setup is straight forward, and while not required the Sony Cloud Connect app allows you to adjust the 10 band EQ settings, set lighting effects, manage Bluetooth connections, change inputs, and customize the "Party Pad" for karaoke / sound effects, and karaoke specific settings. Once connected via one of the multiple options - USB-C, USB-A, RCA, XLR, 1/4" mono jack (guitar / mic), or Bluetooth, you can select the preferred sound mode and that's it. Even better, you can connect 2 devices simultaneously, so it's easy to hand off, or queue up the next song seamlessly.  It's hard to describe exactly how good the sound quality is of the ULT 7. If you're thinking about the speakers they pull out and plug a mic into when you go to some pop up event and can't hear anything 20' away, this is not it. It's more like you go to a giant arena concert and pull one of the speakers down from the line array and take it home. That being said, this thing also has a sensitive, delicate, almost refined side where you can tone down the music and listen to it across the room. The quality is not tied to the volume, it's the fact that the speaker is so well designed that it delivers quality sound depth, range, and clarity at all volumes. This is due to the huge woofer paired with four tweeters, and 2 mid-range speakers. You can tell the woofer is optimized as it delivers sound pressure to ensure you not only hear the sound, but feel it as well.  Performance wise, this speaker is so versatile, the entire family fights over who gets to use it on the weekends. This speaker is now the favorite amp when the teens play guitar, beating out a higher end amp of the same size. The whammy bar drop can be not only heard, but felt on all 3 levels of the house, it takes the garage band sound to a whole new level. When I can pry the speaker away from them, I put it on the front porch, connect it to my phone, and can stream music that can be heard anywhere on my 15 acre farm. That means, when the speaker is at full volume, I can hear it nearly 1/3 mile away over a 400' elevation drop, and the sound resonating throughout the valley transforms the farm into my own private concert venue. Lastly, on occasion we break out the speaker for some fireside karaoke, the lights are fun, the settings adjustments help tone down those folks who may be a bit much, and it's a quick plug and play setup, optimized with the app settings.  A few other things to note, the speaker is sturdy. When I leave it playing outside, the phone will shut down due to overheating while the speaker keeps on playing. Also, provided the connector ports cover is in place, it's also IPX4 water resistant, so no big deal if it gets wet from the pool or a quick rainstorm.  I wouldn't leave it out in the rain, but have gotten it wet a few times before we were able to pack it up, and there was zero issue. Next, I love the fact that it has wheels and handles, while it is heavy at ~50 lbs, it's not cumbersome to move even on grass and gravel, plus I don't feel like the handles will break off. Lastly, while I don't have a second one, you can wirelessly connect a second ULT7 speaker for stereo sound or multiple ULT 7 speakers (up to 100) and build out your own club scene.  Bottom line, if you need a good multi-purpose speaker - guitar amp, karaoke setup, bonfire entertainment, music / light show, the Sony ULT Tower 7 nails it. There is no trade off between sound and features, with high quality immersive sound in a portable, well designed, build.  

I have been using the Sony ULT TOWER 7 for about one week now, and overall I am very happy with it. I was looking for a good party speaker with strong bass, good sound, lighting, karaoke support, DJ connectivity, and the number of input options and more features than a regular Bluetooth speaker. The sound quality is really good. The bass is deep and powerful, especially when using ULT1 or ULT2. ULT1 gives more deep bass and ULT2 gives more punch and power. For normal music, I usually keep it on FLAT or LIVE depending on what I am listening to. The speaker gets loud enough to fill a large room without making the sound feel weak. One thing I did not expect to like this much is the wheels and handles. This is a big and heavy speaker, but moving it around is actually easy because of the wheels. I have moved it between rooms and outside without much trouble. You still need some space to store it, but the portability is much better than I expected for a speaker this size. I also like all the different ports. It has XLR, RCA, USB-A, USB Type-C, and Mic/Guitar inputs. I have access to a DJ mixer, and connecting it gives me more options for parties and music. The microphone and guitar inputs are also useful for karaoke or small live performances. This is much more flexible than a regular Bluetooth speaker. I downloaded the Sony Sound Connect app, and setup was pretty easy. The app lets me change the sound modes, adjust the 10-band EQ, and control the lighting. I spent some time trying the different EQ settings, and it is nice to have the option to adjust the sound based on what I like. The lighting looks really good during a party. It adds a nice atmosphere without being too much. I also tried the Party Chain feature, and it is a nice option if you have other compatible Sony speakers and want to make the sound bigger. The design and color look good and feel premium. It does not look cheap even though it has a lot of party lighting. The controls are also easy to understand, and I like the ULT button because I can quickly change the bass or adjust the volume. Installation and setup were simple. Bluetooth connected easily to my phone, and getting the app running did not take much time. Connecting the DJ mixer and other devices was also straightforward. For value for money, this is not a cheap speaker, but you are getting a lot for the price. If you only need a speaker for playing music at home, I would probably look at a smaller and less expensive option. But if you want something for parties, karaoke, DJ use, outdoor gatherings, or live music, the extra features are worth considering. After one week of using it, my favorite things are the powerful bass, loud sound, wheels, multiple ports, DJ mixer support, lighting, and the Sound Connect app. The only downside for me is that it is a large speaker and takes up some space. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. It feels more like a complete party sound system than just a Bluetooth speaker, and it has been fun to use.

I absolutely love Sony's BT speakers. I have multiple ones from the ULT field speakers to other tower party speakers and they all are the life of the parties. The new redesigned ULT Tower 7 is no exception and looks/sounds just as amazing. This tower, while still being at a beefy 50+lbs is to me a mid size vs an even more massive sized full tower they offer. No worries about mobility as the design has "handles" on 4 edges and also wheels on the base. I would highly recommend downloading and using the Sony Sound Connect app to unlock a myriad of features vs just connecting it directly via BT or RCA etc. While there are plenty of controls already built physically into the speaker itself, the app can change sound modes, access to custom EQ setting and lighting controls. Also with the app, for me when I 1st turned on the ULT Tower, it paired instantly. Battery life claims up to 30 hours and so far while listening for a few hrs a day daily, I still don't have a low battery warning. Even still, charge time is decent at up to 3 hrs to a full charge from 0. Inputs are plentiful with lots of options in the rear of the speaker. 1/4" jack for Mics or Guitars and make the ULT an amp, RCA inputs for TVs, Consoles, Vinyl players (etc), USB A and C for direct connections or use them as charging ports, BT and XLR for all you DJs. Performance is amazing for all types of music. The ULT badge on the front of the speaker isn't for show and is actually a button/knob. Press it to change between deep bass to even more powerful bass to Flat/Live. You can also rotate it for volume controls. With my custom EQ settings, my music always sounds perfect no matter what genre is playing.

The Sony ULT Tower 7 has been a great speaker for both home and work. It was very simple to set-up and connect, and I was impressed with how easy the Sony Sound Connect app is to use. The app makes it simple to customize the sound, adjust the EQ and change the party lighting depeding on what you are using the speaker for. The sound is clear and powerful, and the ULT settings let you add extra bass when you really want to feel the music. It was so fun playing my 90's Hip Hop and Rap songs to hear the bass. What I like the most is how versitile it is. This is more than a party speaker. It is great for parties and karaoke, but I can use it for meetings, announcements and events at work. With the microphone and guitar inputs, it can even be used for DJ setup, live music or as an amplifier for a guitar. I also like that you can connect compatible speakers for an even bigger setup. It is nice to have one speaker that I can use for so many different things instead of needing seperate equipment for work and home. Whether we are entertaining at home, making annoucements at an event or just listening to music, the Sony ULT TOWER 7 gives us plenty of sound and flexibility. It is easy to customize and has quickly become one those products I know will use more often than expected.

We got the Sony ULT Tower 7 Party Speaker for our lake property, and it has quickly become one of those things that gets used whenever family and friends are together. We love entertaining outdoors at the lake, and music is always a big part of our gatherings. Our family also loves karaoke, so we were looking for a speaker that would be fun for casual listening but could also handle a larger outdoor gathering. The Sony ULT Tower 7 has been a great addition to our entertainment setup. One of the things I appreciate most is how easy it is to use. None of us want to spend the first 30 minutes of a get-together trying to figure out how to connect a speaker or get everyone’s phones working with it. The Sony was surprisingly straightforward to set up and connect. Once we got everything paired, it was easy for family members to connect and start playing their own music. That has made it especially convenient when we have different people wanting to take turns being the DJ. The sound is also impressive, particularly when we’re using it outdoors. At our lake property, we often have everyone spread out around the patio, yard, and outdoor entertaining areas, so we need something with enough volume to fill the space without sounding weak. The ULT Tower 7 has plenty of power for our gatherings. Whether we’re playing background music while everyone is visiting or turning things up for karaoke, it has more than enough sound for what we need. And when it comes to karaoke, this speaker has really become a favorite. Our family loves getting together and singing, and the speaker makes it easy to turn an ordinary evening into a party. Someone can connect their music or karaoke setup, and before long everyone is taking turns singing. It is definitely one of those purchases that encourages people to get involved rather than just sitting around talking. The lighting is another feature that everyone enjoys. The built-in lights add a fun party atmosphere, especially once the sun starts going down. At the lake, we often continue our gatherings into the evening, and the lights make the speaker feel like part of the entertainment rather than just another piece of electronics sitting outside. The lighting effects give the whole area more of a party feel without requiring us to set up a bunch of additional decorations or lighting. I particularly like that the lighting is something the family actually notices and enjoys. Sometimes features on electronics sound great when you’re reading about them but don’t really make a difference once you have the product. That’s not the case here. The lights genuinely add to the experience when we’re entertaining, especially during karaoke. Kids, adults, and everyone in between seem to enjoy them. The speaker has also been convenient because of the way we use our lake house. We don’t want complicated equipment that requires a lot of maintenance or technical knowledge. We want something we can take out, turn on, connect to, and enjoy. The Sony fits that description well. The controls are straightforward, and connecting devices has been easy enough that different members of the family can use it without needing to ask for help. One thing worth mentioning is that this is a very heavy speaker. It’s definitely not something I would want to carry any significant distance by simply picking it up. However, Sony did a good job making it easier to move than its weight might suggest. The built-in handle and wheels make a big difference. We can easily roll it from one area of the lake property to another, and moving it around for gatherings or transporting it is much easier than I initially expected. As long as you use the wheels and handle, the weight isn’t nearly as much of an issue. For us, the portability is still a plus despite the speaker being substantial. Another thing I like is the versatility. We don’t use it only for parties. It can be used for regular music when we’re hanging out outside, having dinner, sitting by the water, or spending a lazy afternoon at the lake. Then, when we have a larger group over, we can turn up the volume and really take advantage of what the speaker can do. All around a very powerful and fun speaker!

The Sony ULT POWER SOUND series ULT TOWER 7 Party Speaker is you're all in one solution for a fantastic party speaker. This 50lb beast boasts a 10" subwoofer, a pair of midrange speakers, and four tweeters, two in front, two in the back to give you a powerful 360 degree sound. The speaker features some wheels on the bottom to help you move this beast around. And it really wouldn't be a party speaker if it didn't have Karaoke mode, which this does. We all know that sound quality is subjective, but the ULT TOWER 7 puts out some seriously great sounds, and with authority. I'm unsure of the power wattage output, but it will say from my experience that it is significant. If the four presets (Flat, ULT1, ULT2, Live) don't give you the sound you're looking for, you have access to a 10-band equalizer via the Sony Sound Connect app to fine tune the speaker to your liking. Myself personally, I go back and forth between ULT1 and ULT2 depending on the genre of music I'm listening to. There are many ways to connect to the ULT Tower 7. There's of course Bluetooth, which I have mainly used, but you also have RCA, XLR IN and OUT for you DJ's out there, and a 6.3mm MIC jack. There is also have USB-C, USB-A, which I have mainly used for charging my phone, but they can be used as inputs like using the USB-A with a thumb drive. While you are able to control mostly everything from the speaker itself, the Sony Sound Connect gives you more in-depth access to sound, lighting, and party controls. Feature like the EQ, ULT button modes, RGB lighting modes and customization, and Party Pad features like a sampler, isolator, flanger, and Karaoke mode options. Another feature of the ULT Tower 7 is the ability to chain multiple speakers together. You can connect up to 100 compatible speakers using the Party Chain button. Unfortunately I have not been able to test this feature out because it does not work with older my older Sony speakers. As much sound as this speaker puts out, It's crazy to me to think what a few of these party chained together would sound like. I've really enjoyed using this speaker over the Labor Day weekend at my house, and received many compliments on how good and how loud it could get. We really enjoyed it later that night when we watched a movie on my garage using a projector and this speaker. It's nowhere near a movie theater, but no one complained about not being able to hear the movie over everything else going on. Overall I'm very impressed with this speaker, and look forward to testing out the party chain feature.

I have been a Sony fanboy since the 80’s. Their Bluetooth speakers have always been very good, but haven’t been a part of the popularity that Bose, JBL, and other companies have enjoyed over the past decade plus. A few years ago, they released the ULT series, which were reboots of the very similar speakers they had been churning out, but the pricing was aggressive and the user-level features were ultra attractive. My main Bluetooth speakers are ULT 5 with the strap and ULT 7 for road trips/lake house/pool day travel and outdoor music. I love them. Super easy to use, lots of bass for partying, great sound quality, and they are heavy, rock solid, and durable. As soon as I took the tower out of the box, I knew it was built in the same vein as the others. Very heavy, very solid. There are wheels to roll it, albeit no extending handle. But for my wife, she didn’t have a problem moving it, it’s heavy, but it’s not unwieldy. And most importantly, it’s not fragile. Immediately upon removing it from the box, I knew it was going to bump. There are handles, it can sit on its feet or on its side. There’s a really convenient volume knob that also doubles as the equalizer toggle. Behind the rubber gasket, there are 1/4” and XLR inputs, XLR line out, mic volume controls, RCA (red and white) line in, USB-C and A charging ports, and charging port. The function wheel toggles between the two USB (which double as charging ports), line in, or Bluetooth. There’s a button to connect to other Sony speakers, the battery saver stamina button, the light toggle, and the karaoke pitch and echo control. Volume is controlled on the front with the wheel knob, which also doubles as a click button to toggle the sound modes and can be held in for demo audio. On top, there’s a power button, which you just tap to turn on. No holding to wonder when it’s going to come on or anything. When you turn it on, she tells you how much battery you have. The Bluetooth button is pretty convenient, no confusing holding this to turn on that feature or anything like that. There’s a play and pause button that, if you are connected to the speaker, will absolutely toggle play and pause. Super convenient. Feels like Sony thought about its users when designing this. The bass is ridiculous, even on standard. Connecting to the Sony app, you can toggle the EQ or change some of the options, including multi Bluetooth set up. It’s very, very intuitive. Needless to say, the sound is super tailored toward partying, tailgates, backyard, hanging out with your friends. It’s an amazing speaker that absolutely rivals my old JBL that I used to wheel around but was forgotten at an Airbnb. There’s no reason not to get this if you are considering a big party speaker. The only negatives I’ve found in weeks of using it for my daily audio are that I am unable to get it to connect with my ULT 5 and ULT 7. I don’t actually need that feature because I can’t think of any time I would ever need more output than this delivers, But I did spend about 30 minutes of frustration trying to get it to connect, just to see how it would work. My wife has been having a blast plugging in a $10 microphone and singing along with her favorite songs. When it is on it’s side, it is a really nice bench to sit on, I’m not sure if that’s intended, but it works. Couldn’t be happier with this speaker.

The ULT Tower 7 is pretty heavy duty and not for the casual user. It looks great and has a premium feel but it is heavy. There are wheels but the handle to "tow" it by is awkward. It'd be nicer if there were a pull out handle like a suit case. It does have heavy duty handles that are solid to carry it if you're in a situation where you can't use the wheels, like at a beach. It would be nice if there was a mount below to put it on a stand like PA speakers. But i can see the case not to since it encourages you to put peripherals into it, without needing a mixer. Though you still could to expand functionality. BT Pairing is easy and painless and the app has a lot of features, including adjustable equalizer, customize the lighting and using karaoke mode. The battery life is excellent. You'll have no problems with an all weekend party. While there is line in and out via XLR, it's best to have similar brand/lines. Would likely make it a better setup experience. I tried to connect it to vari harbinger to set them up in stereo, but could not get it to work either direction. Had to use the 1/4" line in that you would put a microphone in. It did work but it was a little frustrating. Sound quality is great, and the ULT bass boost really brings the speaker to life. I haven't been able to turn it up to it's loudest because even outside I haven't been able to turn it to the max lest I risk a noise complaint. If you're looking for a speaker for a stereo/dj set up you may prefer dedicated PA as this is a bit overkill, however the advantage is battery vs needing power. That's what you're mostly paying for is the battery, the convenience of portability as other speakers that require power can do this what this does for half the price. However as a general party speaker and needing portability, especially for outdoor events, this is more than enough for a good size party or event.

I absolutely love the sound coming out of this speaker, the audio quality is amazing and the bass really moves the room. However, we ultimately couldn't use the Sony ULT Tower 7 for what we originally needed it for. It is advertised as portable because it has wheels and a battery, but it weighs around 50 pounds and lacks a proper telescopic handle. It is much bulkier and harder to haul around than we thought it would be. If you need something to leave in one spot or roll around a flat patio, it’s incredible. If you need true, easy portability, you might want to look at something smaller.

I owned a Partybox 520 and it was stolen. I bought the tower 7 and to my surprise, it’s louder , heavier bass, and sounds better. Other than not having a telescopic handle , this thing sounds incredible

The Sony - ULT Tower 7 is a great speaker. I have been team Sony with speakers since getting the SRS-XG300 and since the ULT line has become more prominent, I am not disappointed. This is my second Sony product within the ULT line, the last being over a year ago, the ULT Field 5 and the feel/quality/elegance is maintained within the tower series - just bigger and badder. The ULT Tower 7 is ready to go out of the box. Weighing about 50-lbs it slightly awkward while in the box, much easier to maneuver. The look is sleek, being a well-defined round edged square shape with each edge having a sturdy handle for ease of positional changes. When upright, the unit can be tilted backward slightly and wheeled around on the included wheels. Download the Sony SoundConnect app (if do not already have), pairing is quick/seamless and the device is ready to go. If you have more than one ULT speaker, you can party chain them together by pressing the party chain button and get playing. The speaker is rated IPX4 for water resistance - able to repel/stand water splashing. I have not specifically tested this resistance, but it is reassuring to have the rating. The ULT series utilizes a specific ULT button to easily toggle between sound settings. Deeper low range enabled, increased power or a flat setting without any equalizer enabled. This can be toggled quickly without need of app/settings. I prefer to use ULT1 setting - the bass is remarkable on this tower speaker and amplified on ULT2. The sound can be easily adjusted by turning the ULT button/knob - with a comfortable listening within the house when just my family being about 1/3 volume - 1/2 volume being considered loud and then higher volumes likely reserved for the true house party vibe and/or outside listening. My toddler enjoyed being able to have some simple control of the front of the speaker, she adjusts the volume for each song happily and will change the ULT setting as well. The speaker absolutely has an umph factor. The sound quality is crisp, strong and clear. No disappointment while listening at this time. The device is primarily wireless - charging cable included, slightly shorter than I would have liked but since the battery is robust, not of significant concern - I do wish there was somewhere to keep the charging cable when not in use as it is only a matter of time before I misplace it. Battery life is quoted to be about 30-hours, which I have used throughout the last couple days without needing to recharge. There is a charge out for USB-C and USB-A available, to enable PC/phone hook-up or a USB drive to be used. There is a standard mic input available with a simple knob to adjust volume. There is XLR and RCA connection to enable use of DJ equipment or hook-up instruments - I do not have the ability to test these but considering how easy microphone hook-up/plug in was, I expect nothing otherwise for this speaker. Can toggle between input using a function knob that is on the back panel. The other major feature of the tower is of course, lights. With RBG lighting around the face edge of the tower an ambient lighting is cast which can be toggled between multiple settings quickly using the light button on the back panel and lighting color adjusted easily through the SoundConnect app. This takes a quality speaker unit and adds the party factor - that with the ULT chain connect option has endless (in reality 100 unit) set up possibilities. In summary, the ULT Tower 7 is a solid, easy to maneuver speaker unit which provides robust, easily controlled sound and lighting to the environment. This can easily enable sound for casual get together or a moderate sized event. Another satisfying product from the Sony ULT line.

The Sony ULT Tower 7 Wireless Party Speaker is absolutely awesome and will amaze you how much sound power comes out of this unit! Out of the box, It is a very heavy speaker. It weighs in right around 50 pounds. It comes with an initial battery charge so you are able to turn it on and get it set up on the Sony Sound Connect App. It comes with a power cord that I think could stand to be just a little bit longer, but it works well. Right away you can start enjoying this powerful speaker and wow does it get loud! Sony wanted to emphasize the bass output in the Tower series and it definitely out performs other party speakers I have. It does have grab handles on the top in order to move the speaker around and the whole system is built very solid. The only lighting on the unit is on the border of the front speaker plate. It is controllable in the app as far as colors, and styles. It looks neat and flows well with the unit. On the front grill is a lighted control knob that has ULT on it. This serves as a volume knob, and pushing in the knob changes the tones between heavy bass, a standard mix, and then vocal heavy with little bass. The knob feels solid and works well. There are slight delays between tone mix changes where all sound stops while the mix switches. The speakers are amazing. The sound output is so clear and crisp and the subwoofer is very powerful. It was outputting sub frequency down to 30hz on battery power, and 25hz while plugged in. There are also tweeters on the back of the box for a surround effect. That is one thing about these wireless speakers. The sound output is actually slightly decreased while on battery power, and there is actually more bass and mids while the speaker is plugged into the wall. This speaker boasts about 10 hours of battery life which is absolutely amazing. One fun thing is taking this everywhere. It also small enough to fit in your car and give you a bit of a mini "System" for your car. Depending on the device and car, the bluetooth doesn't always sync while in dual output mode on your phone or tablet, but some sync perfect and really adds effect to your car speaker system. The add ins for this speaker is that it does include audio in, audio out and XLR ports for microphone or guitar use. It has separate adjustments for microphone inputs to adjust echo, volume, etc. It does have a party chain mode, but does not connect to other brand party speakers that have party chain. I would love to get a couple more of these and really get a full experience. Overall this is a fantastic speaker and really rocks the house, outdoor party, car, etc, really wherever it goes! Highly recommend!

This is a very capable speaker, and the battery life is excellent! On the box, they say about 30 hours of power. Well, I played a 2-hour gig with this at max volume running off of the battery, and it’s still showing 100% battery in the app, so it seems this 30-hour timeframe is may actually be accurate, even at maximum volume rather than minimum! The connectivity options are great as well! I was using the microphone (XLR) line to take a line-in from a live-music mixer. You can also connect an instrument or cheap mic (like for karaoke) through the ¼” plug, an older device like a turn-table through the RCA cables, and your phone by Bluetooth, then toggle through all of these with a physical rotary dial on the back of the speaker. No issues like popping or crackles when toggling either! There is a lot of added functionality through the app as well. If you’re interested in DJ-style effects, you can physically control a couple of effects like a flanger and isolator for different frequencies. More useful to the broader public is a 10-band EQ to tailor your output. The bass-focused settings are also useful for having a powerful bass sound to fill a room (balanced by a microphone on top of the device) or to simply be more powerful based on the “ULT” settings. If you have this on when listening to a podcast at home, you’ll be amazed how much bass there may be in some of the ads which don’t come through at all on earbuds! The party-light on front is a nice touch, and a great way to check your volume while adjusting. You also have nice controls for the karaoke through the app as well. The one feature that I would love to test but don’t have the equipment to do so is the party connection so that you can link together a huge number of Sony speakers. Since this is the only modern one that I have with the functionality, I cannot report on how it actually works, but otherwise I’m quite happy with this! My one suggestion for an improvement would be to have a slot on the bottom such that it can be lofted on a speaker stand if you would like to. It is a bit limiting to have a powerful speaker like this and not be able to loft it such that more people get better audio quality. The physical design is quite nice, and I really appreciate the inclusion of rollers on the bottom. While these are not in a position to wheel it around on the ground, they are perfectly placed to slide this speaker into your trunk with minimal resistance. It would be nice if there was a handle to roll it around on the ground for easier positioning since the wheels are there, but it’s OK to move as-is. Definitely heavy, but the handles on both sides feel very solid.
