I bought these headphones for work related use. They stay in my ears very snugly so I don't have to worry about them falling out into a sink full of water. Although they're not water proof they are water resistant. I shower with these in all the time and rinse them off under running water when needed. They're not as loud as I would like them to be but they aren't super quiet either. They pack a lot of punch when it comes to bass and there is an equalizer in the app that can be manually manipulated to your liking. My favorite thing about these are they are just all around well rounded headphones. I got them on sale for $168 at Best Buy and I honestly wouldn't trade them for any other pair because theyre perfect for what I need them for. I may however look into a more expensive pair like Sennheiser later down the road just for pure enjoyment of music but for now I'll stick with these. My only complaint is when anything brushes up against the touch sensors for audio control they can be paused or ambient or noise cancelling mode can be turned off easily. Noise cancelling feature works great however the ambient sound mode even with focus on voice all the way at 20 doesn't in my opinion. I personally have to pause my music or take the ear phone out completely to really be able to hear what someone is saying to me. They're really just that snug. Overall a great purchase def worth the price I paid for them. I have to say I do love them. They are absolutely my new favorite pair of headphones as I use these more than any other pair I own! Def recomend these headphones to anyone looking for well rounded headphones for work or exercise!

This is a review for the Sony WF-SP800N Wireless Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones. I have had these headphones for about two and a half weeks now, and I felt a review was in order for these items. First, let's start with the cons: The seal can be hit-or-miss with earbuds, but that's a given with the nature of these earbuds. I personally have no trouble with the seal, using two medium silicon earbuds, but other friends who have tried them with different earbuds have had differing results. Another problem I had with them is within the Sony headphones app. Occasionally when I'd pair them to my phone, they would have no volume or sound output. This was fixed by going into the app, manually adjusting the volume slider, and then returning out. This has only happened 3 or 4 times, and overall is fine. The final con, and this could be considered a dealbreaker for some, is that sometimes the earbuds disconnect from each other. Very rarely it happens, but when pairing the earbuds, they can just randomly drop out and you'll be left with one playing audio, and the other one just silent. I usually need to reconnect both earbuds at least one or two other times, and then they will start working in tandem with each other. It's a very niche problem, but it will happen. Now, for the pros and what I personally enjoyed about these: The audio quality is superb and clear, and as someone who usually uses wired Audio Technica ATH-M50X's into a DAC on their desktop, these Sonys actually held up quite well. Bass is a bit lacking, but with some EQ work and better sealing, you can get a nice punchy base without sacrificing too much of the mids and highs. The microphone quality is quite good. I used them in a few Discord calls and phone calls, with everyone remarking that my microphone sounded pretty good. Even recording internally to my phone sounded fine, and I'd say that it was nice to hear clear audio coming from these little buds. The noise-canceling can be hit or miss depending on the person, but for me personally it blocked out around 90% of the sound when set to the highest settings. The ambient noise feature was also very helpful, and works quite well, granted that you don't have long hair like me that brushes against the microphones and causes a rustling sound. It performed well when I was walking next to a highway, and blocked out almost all noise. The size of these is what also appealed to me, being very small and almost flush to the ear when inserted is very helpful. It allowed me to workout with these on indoors and outdoors, and they didn't fall out of my ears or anything. It was nice to be able to hear while moving up and down and around, and they didn't fall out a single time. This is dependent once again on the amount of seal you have, but for me they worked great for just walking, running, and overall exercise. I also felt fairly secure as they are IP-55 water and dust resistant, so they can take some dust and sweat, but that does not mean you can swim with them. Trust me, I've tried swimming with IP-68 rated earbuds and they broke. Do not try that with these. The battery life is amazing, being able to get around 16 hours with the case at half volume without noise cancelling. With noise cancelling I was able to get around 10 hours at half volume with the charging case. It feels good to be able to snap open the case, put in the earbuds, walk around for a bit, and then pull them out with no worries for the battery life. They actually performed better for battery than some of my older earbuds and headphones, which was quite surprising. The build quality is also really nice. The plastics on the earbuds and case feel like a nice high-quality one, the silicon earbuds don't feel cheap, and the charging case has a nice smooth feel, while also having a good hinge that makes that satisfying "snap" noise. I feel confident that this case can hold up to anything in my pockets, and it's quite sturdy. The earbuds themselves don't have any give and the capacitive sensors work almost all the time, with a few misinputs from my hair. Additionally, the charging pins are set so that the earbuds just snap in magnetically and start charging. Simple to put in and simple to pull out. Finally, let's talk about connectivity. I was able to use these with my phone around 35 feet away in my house with almost no breakage in signal quality, but when moving around there'd be a bit of fizz followed by a change in volume. 35 feet is good enough for me, and honestly was better than I was expecting, and holds up to the Bluetooth standard. In the Sony app, you are able to see the charge of the headphones and the case charge (determined by the last time the earbuds were placed within it) which is very helpful and nice to see, allowing me to generally get a feel for when the earbuds were draining low. The adaptive location setting has worked fairly well, and was very consistent. It knew when I was in my workspace, and then it knew when I was moving around and to put ambient noise on. I think it was probably one of the more experimental but good things I've liked in the headphones and earbuds space. Overall, this was a pleasant and nice product to use. The adaptive noise canceling, ambient sound, and ANC are very good for the price class. The build quality is great, the sound is spectacular and clear, with good base and a really good microphone that has no business being as good as it is. It feels comfortable, is small and portable and will always have a place in my electronics bag.

Great pair of earbuds very good the wings and ear tips that it came with didn’t fit my ears , but I chose ones that fit me I try them on again I got more bass I played with the eq setting on the app they sound amazing very good pair , I would truly recommend I went outside it was raining a bit & they still work fine very good earbud I truly recommended that up rating is amazing very truth but this okay they sound great

These headphones are fantastic! They come with replacement buds in a smaller size for small ears like mine and it's very easy to connect to your device. Just make sure you take out both ear buds to connect for the first time or it won't show up under nearby devices. Their range is pretty decent, I can walk through my house without losing connection to my phone. The sound quality is really good too. The noise cancelling feature works pretty well. I can't hear my roommate when he's screaming on VR anymore, so THANK YOU! :)

Very easy to connect. These provide great sound quality for music and phone calls. The bass and treble are just right for my liking. The app is user friendly as well I've had several types or ear buds and like these over Jabra 85t Jbl club Bose quiet comfort and the Sony 1000

I was a bit skeptical about the whole Noise-Cancelling feature, but after using these in-ear headphones, I am amazed. The sound quality is phenomenal, and the battery life is fantastic.

I recently bought a pair of Sony WF SP800N True Wireless ear buds and I must say they are well worth the price I paid for them. I was initially drawn to Sony’s WF-SP800N Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones because of the company’s legendary EXTRA BASS sound technology. I am glad I did as I ended up gaining way more than I had bargained for (in a very good way)! In the current crowded field of wireless in-ear headphones (earbuds), Sony’s WF-SP800N stand out physically and technologically. While others may gripe about their shape and size, I found them very comfortable even after extensive use. For optimal sound, you get four differently sized tips and two anchors. Personally, I am able to use the medium sized tips and jog with no issues. Included in the box are the charging case and a USB Type-C cable to facilitate charging. To maximize all the capabilities, you will need to download the Sony Headphones Connect app. Although pairing the earbuds (via the regular discoverable process) can be accomplished right out the box, the app makes the process easier and much more seamless. The most exciting tech about these earbuds, in my opinion, is the Adaptive Sound Control. This feature by default automatically detects the current activity status and adjusts the ambient sound accordingly. An example is that while sitting, ambient sound would be reduced as much as possible in contrast to walking, where one would need to be somewhat aware of their surroundings. To make it even better, you can actually fine tune these preset scenarios to suit your preferences. By default, the earbuds will notify via a beep once an activity status change has been detected and the ambient sound changed (e.g. you sit after walking a while); this notification can be disabled. The engineers have even included a location feature which learns frequent locations and adjusts the ambient sound control based on conditions. Controls are precise via touch sensitive pads on either headset. They are customizable in function and offer dust and water resistance. Bluetooth 5.0 is the standard at play and accounts for the stable connections. Full simultaneous charge is about 3 hours for case and earbuds. From a full charge, continuous use for 9 hours is the rating but I have been able to achieve about 7 hours. I am very active and do often leave my phone on a different level of the house while doing other things. Coupled with the Adaptive Sound Control I cannot seem to get enough of, I believe these could be reasons why I have yet to attain the said battery estimates. The case delivers an additional 9 hours or possibly 13 with the noise cancellation feature turned off. These earbuds support Google Assistant very well. The Sony Headphones Connect app provides equalizer (8 presets, 1 manual and 2 custom settings) for additional sound enhancements. Deep basses and clear trebles make these headphones outshine the pack. Output is that good and is a result of the various customization options. There is also support for an enhancement called 360 Reality Audio. It appears software based and attempts to replicate a multiple speaker experience. Use appears limited and currently available via a few streaming services. Now, the not so favorable bits. Wireless charging for the case would have been nice. Although it feels well-constructed, the case is larger than most I have seen. The Sony Headphones Connect app can display battery levels for the earbuds and the case, however, the case level is the last reading when the earbud(s) was taken out of the case. In summary, you need to replace and remove an earpiece from the case to get the current charge level. Not a deal breaker but for the amount of tech at play here, one would assume a less convoluted process. The case also has an LED indicator for when either earbud, the case or all three batteries are being charged. The individual slots are labelled for each earpiece and they magnetically snap into position when close enough. Sony’s WF-SP800N Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones pack a lot of tech in a convenient dust and water-resistant package. Sound performance laps the current competition and have easily become my new favorites!

I love them very comfortable and so easy to charge but the best of all it is the noise cancelling.

These say “in ear headphones” but they are ear buds. They are very similar to the other buds, including ones that I got with my phone which are good but these seem far superior thus far. These have noise cancelling features that I really can tell a difference as peripheral noise is blocked more by these than my other headphones I use, maybe not quite as strong as my over the ear headphones but for ear buds, they are impressive. These are probably the most feature packed ear buds that I have seen recently. The extra bass boost is evident and noticeable, great for a power walk or run. You can turn on Adaptive Sound Control and it can detect whether or not you are Staying, Walking, Running or Transport. I only tested this with Staying and walking but it will change the setting which also ties to the Ambient Sound control which modifies a setting which assumes a level of ambient noise, such as cars and people around you while walking, running or riding, pretty cool ! It can even learn your locations and register those settings based it’s knowledge of mapping to your location. The Equalizer has 12 settings, all of which are very good in addition to being able to set them manually. I really like the “Excited” setting, it seems to have a really good balance of enhance base and crisp treble. As far as battery life goes, I have only had these a few days. They advertise 9hrs if you have Noise Cancelling turned on, with up to 18hrs with the charging case. If you have NC turned off, they advertise 13hrs, with up to 26 with the charging case. I can tell you that I keep NC on and I have easily gotten 9hrs out of these. I plan to test further in the upcoming week or so but I am very happy with them and the charging case. As I have stated with the different options, the Sony Headphone app is amazing with all the options and how it reads what im playing through Spotify and I can control the playlist I am in. I used these for a conference call today and got great feedback on the sound quality so with all this working from home, these are invaluable to being able to integrate between work and play. Overall, I really like these. The only thing I have noticed is if you have Adaptive Sound Control on, when it detects a change, like going from Staying to walking and then back to staying, it does a very slight interrupt in sound. It’s not a big deal but if you are going to be doing a lot of back and forth changes like that, you may want to just switch it off temporarily. Maybe that is something they can fix with an update. I would definitely recommend these, they are also pretty comfortable and stay comfortable with a nice tight fit that doesn’t make me feel like they will pop out and loose them. I really like them and will be using them daily, especially while I am taking calls for work and switching to music between them.

The Sony WF-SP800N’s (800N’s from here on) are the second pair of truly wireless earphones I have tried from Sony with the WF 1000’s being the second. I am still very impressed with the 1000’s and was curious to see what was different with this new pair. Inside we have the usual paperwork, the two earphones, the charging case, some different earwing tips and a usb type C cable . Let’s start with the battery case. The case is smaller, lighter and more shapely than its predecessor. The general shape is oval and at least for my model the case was matte black and soft to the touch. The lid is magnetic and opens and closes easily. When the earphones are seated inside and the lid closed, there is no shifting around even when the case is placed upside down.The case also can’t stand up on its own as it does not have a flat bottom, so instead it will settle on its side.The type C port for charging are found towards the back and bottom of the case and when the case or earbuds are being charged a red light can be seen at the center of the point of contact when the lid is closed. Once you open the case you will see the earbuds nested securely into the case with indicator lights towards the left and right side of the case indicating the charging status of each individual earbud. The earbuds come with wing-tips that offer a secure fit once placed into your ears. Each earbud has two touch capacitive areas which act as your controls. By default the left touch control toggles between the ambient and noise cancellation mode while the right touch control handles music playback ie. one taps pauses/plays, two taps skips to the next track and three taps returns you to the previous track. If you opt to download the Sony Headphone app, which I greatly suggest you do, each of these touch controls can be set to either volume control, ambient noise control, playback and an assistant trigger (google/siri etc). A feature that stands out here is the Quick Attention mode which is initiated by placing a finger on to the left touch control and holding. This instantly switches to ambient mode so that you can hear your surroundings and upon removing your finger your music resumes. When it comes to performance, let’s first look at pairing. The earbuds instantly come on and are ready to be paired as soon as you take them out of the case. When you place them in your ears, each earbud reports their battery level. Each earbud seems to pair independently to your device and therefore you can use each separately if you so desire. While they are both in use with media being played (i.e music or video), taking out any will pause playback while returning the earbud to your ears promptly resumes your media. I can’t talk about how they sound without talking about the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) feature these earbuds have unlike many of its competitors. The ANC feature is good, not as complete as the 1000’s but still very good. With no music on, there is a small amount of ambient sound coming through but as soon as the music is on the anc is in full effect without even a high volume. You can use these in crowded/ busy environments without much issue and I commend their performance. When it comes to music, these are very good, the bass packs a suitable punch on the high end and pounds rather than thunders at the low end, the treble is crisp just like the highs and mids are mostly balanced. I listen to a variety of genres while using these, such as, rap, pop, edm, dancehall etc I had no complaints with any of it and even if I did the equalizer inside the app would surely help. When it comes to phone calls, the XM3’s performed suitably, with audio coming through clearly from the other person on the call while according to them my voice carried clearly and cleanly until it got too noisy around me. Finally when it comes to battery life, I can report that they lasted for 8+ hours on a single charge with ANC on and volume set to around 50% or less. When ANC was turned off I got about 12+ hours on a single charge. I must note that it charges quickly inside the case and I was only able to get one full charge before the case needed to be charged. Another plus for getting the Sony app is that it will be able to tell you the individual battery level of the earphones as well as the battery case. This is another good entry from Sony into this competitive market. Not only does it have ANC, great comfort and a good battery life it is also IP55 rated ( meaning splashproof and dustproof). These are great for both gym workouts and generally strenuous physical activities but can also be used as general everyday earbuds.

3.5 stars I was anxious to try these new Sony wireless headphones. I like a lot of bass and that can be hard to acheive with a lot of wireless headphones. Bass is affected by how snugly the earbuds fit in your ears. If you have a smaller ear, you also have to consider how that affects the positioning in your ear. These headphones do well on both points. The unit comes with four different sized buds as well as two different sized stabilizer pieces. The stabilizer pieces help to secure the buds to the shell of your ear. The earbuds are heavier than others that I've had but they are comfortable. The sound is pretty good. There is an app to download to set up the headphones. That app gives you the ability to select the type of sound you want. It also offers a 360 sound option where the sound seems to surround you but it requires a premium music subscription. They seem to maintain the bluetooth connection information. I didn't have a problem getting them to reconnect each time I used them. The headphones are a sport version and therefore water resistant. That is helpful when you wear them to work out. Controlling the headphones is easy using touch controls on each bud. In the app you can set up what particular function you want each bud to control. The buds fit into a carrying case that also acts as a charger. The headphones have about nine hours of play time and the storage case/charging unit can hold approximately nine additional hours. There were a couple if things that I did not care for. The packaging has several different pieces of instructions but nowhere in them do any of them say what happens to the LED light when they are fully charged. Does it stay red? Does it turn off? Does it turn a different color? The instructions aren't very clear for other information either and it seemed that most of the set up and learning came from actually playing with them and the app. Some of this could be age related. I'm in my 50's and I couldn't help but think that a child would have had an easier time setting them up, as kids seem to have more instinctive skills. Over all, I like these headphones. The sound is good but I have had other headphones that were significantly cheaper that sounded nearly as good. I think that that is a matter of preference. I think there is room for improvement with these.

Today I am reviewing the Sony WF-SP800N noise-canceling true wireless earbuds. Pros: Deep sound; options to choose from; functional app; comfortable in-ear; good for exercising. Cons: Not entirely noise-canceling; Charging Case is too big. The Sony WF-SP800N noise-canceling true wireless earbuds are a compact, yet somewhat bulky earbud compared to others on the market (compare to the Apple and Samsung buds, they are slightly larger). The package includes extra earpiece sizes to swap out, just in case the ones included out of the box do not fit well in your ear. I swapped out the ones with a different pair in the box, and it allowed the earbud to fit tightly in my ear. It is important to get a tight fit so that you can utilize the noise-canceling technology. Unfortunately, with the included earbuds, I was not able to fully take advantage of the noise-canceling option. However, the noise-canceling feature is not terrible, but it is also not the best that Sony produces (I have a pair of over-the-ear WH-1000XM3 headphones, and they cancel noise out very well). The sound was still leaking in from the outside on occasion. The noise-canceling feature is something you can adjust in the app as well, but more on that below. The WF-SP800N earbuds are comfortable, and I do like the feature when you place each earbud in your ear that it tells you how much battery life you have left (this is a great feature if you did not open your app on the phone to look at how much battery life is left). Speaking of the app, to take full advantage of the earbuds, you have to download the Sony Headphones Connect app. Once you place the earbuds in your ear, download the app and connect. Here you can adjust your noise-canceling settings, sound settings (EQ settings), and something I have never used, which is an adaptive sound to-the-environment setting. Meaning, if you are at home, you can use a GPS signal to locate where you are, set your sound settings in the app, and save it. Additionally, if you walk outside, run, or bike (like I do), you can send a signal ping, adjust the sound again for outdoors, and your earbuds will automatically adjust whenever you step outside (this is a neat technology feature). I chose to turn the noise-canceling feature up while outside when I work out because I want to tune out everything around me, whereas, at home, I chose to downgrade the noise-canceling option so that I could hear my surroundings better. Also, Sony included a "deep bass" function, which allows you to adjust the bass level on your earbuds in the app. Unfortunately, the "deep bass" was not as deep as I hoped, but there was an increased "bass" sound when I increased the level to maximum (ten). More importantly, WF-SP800N earbuds have the best sound settings I have used with any earbud I have tested. There are a lot of EQ settings that you choose, and the sound is crystal clear. I tested out some of the EQ settings, further, while listening to some Live music through Spotify. I could distinctly hear the crowd noise, the instruments, and specifically the drums (cymbals, etc.). For making and receiving calls, the earbuds performed well during multiple call tests inside and outside my home. I asked friends and family if they could tell I was talking through Bluetooth, and they could not tell the difference; everyone said my voice was "crystal clear." I did not have any issues with calls dropping in and out, or any lag issues to report. The earbuds come equipped with tap functions. For instance, tapping once on my left earbud when a phone call comes in allows me to answer the call. Or, if I am listening to music while working out, and I tapped one time on the right earbud, I can pause the music, or tap twice to skip a song, or triple-tap to skip backward. Sony's idea is well received here, as I had my phone in my pocket while riding my bike, so skipping a track or pausing for a moment is not convenient to pull my phone out to do so. Now, with the app, you can assign different controls and functions for the earbuds (you do not have to use the pre-determined functions that come with them). Additionally, I use my Google assistant on my phone, and I found that tapping and holding on the right earbud allowed me to ask my Google assistant questions with ease. As far as the earbuds getting sweaty from working out, they are water/dust resistant. With an IP-55 rating, they can handle some sweat, and maybe droplets of rain and still function well (no issues here while riding a bike or running). However, I would not recommend swimming in them, as this will damage them. Also, if you are a runner like I am, I found that when I swapped out my earpiece, and tightly squeezed the earbud in my ear, the earbuds stayed in place and did not move at all. I did not experience issues with them popping out or coming loose. Again, you should size them well, and make sure they rest snug in your ear. As for the case, I enjoyed the fact that you can charge the case, which allows you to charge the earbuds without having to keep the case plugged in (a USB C cable is provided, but not an adapter). I am not sure why an adapter was not included, but most tech companies believe we all have extra adapters that we can swap out from time-to-time. The only issue I had with the case was how bulky it is. If you were to place the charging case in your pocket, the case does not sit comfortably or easily in there. Now, the battery life on the earbuds is incredible and even better if you turn off the noise-canceling function. When I tested them with noise-canceling on, I received about nine hours of battery life (mine fell short of the advertised nine hours, but not by much). If you turn off noise-canceling, you are reportedly getting thirteen hours of battery life (for both the case and earbuds). Though with charging, I experienced a four-hour charging window, and the case with the earbuds was fully-charged. Overall, the Sony WF-SP800N wireless earbuds have a booming sound (though the bass was not what I thought it would be), clear sound, great adaptive technology, and solid qualities (microphone and sound are terrific). I would like to see a smaller case in the future, maybe a possible wireless charging function, and better noise-canceling.

In a nutshell they they were quick and easy to pair up, fit good in my ears and are comfortable to wear for a long period of time. Noise cancelling works well, the phone app lets you customize noise cancelling, EQ and many other settings. Good battery life apx to mfg specs. Build quality feels good for buds and case. Good bass response. Nie and clear for phone calls too!! ;-) On both ends! However, do not expect much if any high end, 10K up, frequency response. High mids can sound harsh on certain settings. You can minimize that by using an EQ preset or by adjusting the graphic EQ manually. Now for the details. Scan the QR code and it will take you to a video that shows you how to pair them up. Very easy to do in my opinion. Download and set up the "Headphone" app and you can customize almost all of the features of the earbuds. And there's plenty. Plus it shows you the battery level of the buds and the charging case. The buds will also tell you info when they connect to BT and the battery life. The top of the app always shows the buds and case battery level. Status is the first sub screen on the app. It shows Adaptive Sound Control. You select it to change settings in the following. Noise cancellation settings and detecting what you are doing (sitting, standing, walking...), where you are (if set to do so) and sets the sound accordingly.. It also shows whatever you may be listening to, or have been listening to, such as music stored on your phone, SiriusXM, Pandora, ect. Sound is the next sub screen. This lets you set how much ambient sound gets past the noise cancellation with a "focus on voice" option. You can also pick an EQ preset or use the graphic EQ to set the tone to your tastes. It has a dedicated "clear bass" setting under the EQ. Below all of that is the 360 reality audio setup. The app asks to analyze your ear shape. I regret that I cannot review this because I couldn't get it to work. I followed all the directions and voice prompts from the app but after 6 attempts I gave up. Last is Sound Quality Mode. You can select Priority on Sound Quality Priority or Stable Connection. I can get approximately 80 feet away from my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus laying flat on a table before it starts to cut out. Distance will probably vary with the phone, tablet PC or other BT device used. System is the last sub screen. It lets you set up what touching the buds do. Such as Pause, Skip, Volume, Google Asst., Alexa, ect. Auto power off, auto pause when buds are removed. Notification, voice guide and language options. Now for what I think about the sound quality. In short they are clean and punchy with good bass but lacking in the high frequency department above 14 khz. I tested to see. I'm guessing this may by design because of being water resistant. I also have earphones by Bose (wired), Master and Dynamic, Samsung, and AKG (wired that came with my Note 10+). Those all sound better than these in the high end department. The M&Ds and Bose sound the best of the bunch overall. However these fit the best and are the most comfortable. They seal in your ear well and that means nice tight bass and good sound isolation. I think that for use in a noisy environment these would work better than the others because they emphasize the frequencies that contain the most musical sound information - harmonics. Then add the noise cancellation and you're set. If you are an audiophile that demands 20hz to 20khz +- 3 db, then these are not for you. Want to listen to music mowing your yard? These are what you need. I speak from experience, however, I did put a pair of Peltor earmuffs over them because my mower is a bit loud and has a low resonant moan with about a 3 second cycle time. It cancelled it Out!! I was Impressed!! Music I have used to test all the earphones I have used is bands like Steely Dan, Alan Parsons, Toto, Donald Fagen, Genesis, Foreigner, ELO, ELP, Yes, Beatles, LRB and similar. Also some classical and jazz. Plus I'm a musician and have worked in several studios plus ran live sound. I'm picky. With all things about them considered, I would recommend these for their intended purpose. A musical jog, workout or whatever with outside noises kept to a minimum or letting some in optional. Other reviewers, here and other sites, have stated there are better options in this area, including from Sony. But I can only compare them to what I have and have used in the past. Personally I would have bought them just to mow my yard with music again. Had to buy a new mower last year and that resonant roar I mentioned earlier forced me to have to use ear plugs and the muffs if I wanted quiet. So even if they don't have the highs I like, they make up for it in other areas.

The Sony WF-SP800N Earbuds are a very nice option for someone looking for a great sounding well performing earbud. They have some great features for a sports bud and not a lot of drawbacks. The build quality is very nice on these. They do stick out from your ears a bit, but with the included stabilizers (two sizes) and different sized tips that create a good seal, they fit extremely well and are comfortable for wearing for long periods of time. A great plus is that they are made with an IP55 Rating which means they are dust resistant and can handle a steady spraying of water. I actually wore these in the shower to test and they stood up to the test. This is also handy for rinsing them off after a good workout. Sound quality is outstanding on these. They have a nice crisp full sound with a nice bass on the low end. They do include Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) which works well. These do handle Sony’s 360 Reality Audio which sounds absolutely fantastic. It was an incredibly immersive sound that was crystal clear and really sounded like I was right in the middle of a surround sound system. The only drawback to this is there is not a ton of 360 Reality Audio content and it is only available on a few Hi-Fi streaming services. Through Sony’s app you can adjust equalizer modes, optimize settings, and overall manage your earbud performance. The battery life on these is fantastic. They claim a 9 hour battery life with ANC turned on and 13 hours without ANC. The case offers a full charge, so you can get up to 22 hours without having to plug the case in. I wore them for almost 5 hours straight and they got down to 50% battery which falls right into line with Sony’s battery life claims. One thing that would be nice is a wireless charging case. Currently, these use USB-C for charging the case. Bluetooth connection on these was solid and very simple to connect. A really nice feature is that they have a sensor on the inside of the buds that can tell if they are in your ear or not. When you take them out, it automatically pauses the music and when you put them back in, it starts playback. They work with Google Assistant and have Alexa built in that you can control with a touch on the buds. The right bud controls music playback, voice assistant, and hands free calling. The left controls active noise cancelling and ambient mode. Phone calls are very crisp sounding and voice was clear. Overall, these are a fantastic pair of earbuds that are loaded with features and great sound to top it off. I would highly recommend these for anyone looking for a nice pair of noise cancelling sports earbuds.

I own Apple Airpod Pros, the Sony WF-1000XM3, the Sony SP700N and now the Sony WF-SP800N and the Sony WF-SP800N is the ultimate combination of everything right with truly wireless earphones with no cabling. For this review, I'll ignore the Airpod Pro's because to be honest, they sound awful and fall out of my ears within minutes of putting them in my ears. The best part of the airpod's the transparency mode and noise cancelling, which isn't on par with the 1000XM3's but it's a very close second. Do the SP800N'S have as good audio quality and definition as the 1000XM3's? NO. Do the SP800N's have as loud volume as the 1000XM3's? NO. It's the one thing I'd say is the most glaringly obvious issue. But it's not a deal breaker. Do the SP800N's have the same extremely high quality noise cancelling and transparency? NO. Is the case as small and portable as the 1000XM3's? NO. But for a good reason which I will get to later. So what makes them better? NOT FALLING OUT OF YOUR EARS. The 1000XM3's have a fatal flaw of not doing what they promise to. Since they're oblong shaped, they only perfectly fit inside the ears of people whose ears perfectly accommodate the design, which isn't that many. Sony took the designs of the SP700N and married it to the WF-1000XM3's with the SP800N. What's great about the SP800N? 1.) It never falls out of your ears. The ear hooks are strong and maintain a tight seal for the noise cancellation feature. I love it. I bought the WF-XM3's for working out without having giant headphones on my head slipping around while on the bench press. Those kept falling out of my ears, while these work great. I can run without these falling out of my ears. Generally, they're just the most stable truly wireless devices I've tried, thanks to the ear hooks. 2.) Water Resistant for exercise, which is when most people are using these headphones. Not being able to walk outside or go for a run because it MIGHT rain is a terrible design flaw. 3.) The call quality is equal to if not better than the XM3's. 4.) The case design is big for a fantastic reason. Sony's identified that it's annoying to have to take the ear hooks off to get them back into the charging case, so the case is designed to allow you to keep the ear hooks on. I love it. Sure, the case is bigger than the WF-XM3's case, but who cares. With 9 hours of battery, you won't need to have that case around with you in your pocket unless you want to take them off at any time which doesn't happen often to me. Even when I do carry the case in my pockets, it doesn't protrude in a way that is unsightly so it isn't a big deal to me. Instead of following suite of all these other garbage case designs from other companies, Sony took a step back and said "we don't have to keep making the cases smaller. Let's make the cases more functional" and that's exactly what they did. All in all, these headphones have 30% better sound quality and noise cancellation than the SPN700's with better portability and a tight connection in your ears. It's the perfect marriage of value and quality. So if you're looking for a moderately high end truly wireless ear phone design especially if you exercise, these are by far the best option you've got. So to clarify, if you're looking for ear phones you can pop in and go do whatever the heck it is you want to do without worrying about rain, exercise sweat, or falling out of your ears while also having excellent sound quality and features, the SPN800's are the choice for you. So Sony, USE THIS CASE DESIGN for the WF-1000XM4's and give the XM4's ear hooks with water resistance and you've got the best truly wireless ear phones. At which case I'll buy those and live happily ever after. 4.5/5 for having about 25% less total volume than the WF-XM3's. It's not that big of a deal, but it's noticeable.

Wow! Just Wow! I absolutely love these! Just an amazing set of True Wireless earbuds. I've owned so many different pairs from various manufacturers (including those little white ones that match up with my iPhone) and these, by far, are my favorite pair I've owned. They are comfortable in my ears and stay in snug with the included silicon ear tips, even during exercise. The EXTRA BASS sound is overwhelming for a set of True Wireless with solid bass. The accompanying Sony Headphones app offers adaptive sound control that adjusts based on your location and what you're doing. You can use the app to check the status of your earbuds, adjust your ambient sound control to the levels you prefer, adjust a built-in equalizer with both standard and custom pre-sets, and adjust the touch sensor functions on the earbuds. Oh yeah, did I mention they have touch sensor functions? It comes with the standard charging case/earbud holder that is included with most true wireless earbuds, but this one is pretty sleek and relatively small. So glad I picked these up.

I am currently sitting on a pair of the 1000xm3 and these trying to decide which to keep. Reason being I love my bass and the 1000s put out acceptable bass but I could use a 5dB bump which is what I'm hoping for with this "extra bass" model. In all honesty these would be an acceptable "downgrade" if you wanna call it that if Sony had included one crucial yet tiny piece of foam inside the driver tube. The 1000xm3 has it and the upper end 3khz~6khz is not harsh or screechy like the 800s out of the box. Sony for whatever reason decided not to put them in these. To see if the harshness would be gone, I removed the ones from the 1000s and inserted them into the 800s and wallah no more harshness. In the pic the left is the 800 with the foam from the 1000 on the right. If you can get your hands on some of this foam then the 800s are definitely a steal especially at the current 170 price point. The ANC is nearly the same in quality and you get considerably better battery life. I'm personally not a fan of the ear fins but they are not required and can be easily removed. They still stay in without them. The touch controls have a slight learning curve but once you memorize them they work just fine.

I thought these would be great for being outdoors mowing the lawn, walking, and motorcycle riding, I was not mistaken. Overall form factor between the case and the individual earphones themselves is great. Easy enough to throw into my pocket with a noticeable bulge but not annoying. The build is good with it not looking like the premium end of Sony's end but it looks good and fits great with the different ear adjustments that come in the box. Now for sound, it is punchy but don't get hyped for it being a "bass boost" device. It does a good job as far as lows and highs for all sorts of music genres or simply listening to podcasts. Now for my motorcycle riders out there, if your helmet is tight to put on it takes a bit of a struggle to get these right. Nonetheless, I love the noise canceling functionality for the riding alone. I will be carrying these on my body everywhere I go since it just fits perfectly with my ever so changing lifestyle.

These are just right in size, the portable charger is much smaller than the Beats Pros. They are effective in noise canceling and have the best sound quality for truly wireless headphones. With plenty of custom fit options, these are bound to fit many people very well, unfortunately for me, these didn’t fit very well. The left headphone would always fall out with minimal activity. I do have unusually shaped ears and this still is the best sounding truly wireless headphones I’ve used. I truly think these will fit most users and they’ll find them to be very enjoyable
