I will admit, I was hesitant about these headphones when I first saw them all around TikTok and YouTube. I tried them at Best Buy, but I initially didn’t like how dirty they got or the sound quality. I was more leaning towards the XM4s when I tried them on, but the ear cups on those felt more shallow and more pressed on my ears. I just instead went for it, bought the XM5s and gave them a try. After two weeks of using them while studying, commuting and working on college work, I was surprised and very happy. The headphones are very comfortable to wear for hours on end, and the ear cups are very plush and soft. My ears have not hurt so far, and they do tend to have a bit of depth, so your ears won’t be touching as much or at all to the ear cup mesh. The sound quality isn’t good out of the box, but once you tune it to your preference using the Sony Connect App, the sound quality is just top tier. I love the bit of punchy bass, but it’s not too much or harsh like the Ult Wear, which I prefer. The noise cancellation is amazing. Best I’ve ever heard. While walking around campus with loud noises, wind and cars going by, I barely could here any of my surroundings. It truly does a good job blocking all the noise with the 8 mics. And the transparency works wonderful. You can also let the headphones automatically adjust the amount of ambient noise allowed based on your surroundings, so you can hear just a bit of the outside noise, like walking across an intersection. Although these don’t fold, I really haven’t had a problem with that fitting them in my school bag, I actually prefer them not having them fold since I feel like I would be more likely to break them easily. My only gripe is that the headphones tend to pick up a lot of fingerprints. I have the blue color, and the fingerprints really show up even after just touching the ear pad controls for just a few minutes. So if you do like the black or blue, just know you’ll be getting fingerprints. If you get the smoky pink or the white color, I don’t think so. Also, even if they are full price at Best Buy at the time you get them or about to get them, you can totally price match them within the return policy. I got mine price matched after my purchase and was quick and easy with customer service. Just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, I have been very happy with these headphones. Great sound quality, comfortable Feel, sleek and smooth design, and overall a nice pair of headphones for anyone.

Design wise they headphones in my opinion look so clean and gorgeous. They are lightweight and don't creak and rattle and really don't feel cheap. Sturdy build. Sound quality wise these bad boys are amazing. Clean highs and mids with a crisp low end. The bass is crisp and punchy. The Sony headphones app allows for so much customization of the equalizer to each person's preference. I like clean and crisp highs and mids with clean punchy bass line that doesn't over power everything else. The sound stage is pretty good and at this price point they are really really amazing. The instrument and sound separation is very distinct with different genres which is wonderful. The app is a must for these headphones for control changes and eq settings and updates. Ldac is also a nice welcome on Android phones. Works perfect for both Samsung and Apple devices in my usage. I highly recommend.

Great Headphones for relaxing. Studying, working out & making phone calls. These are my go to headphone because they are Comfortable, Minimal, Stylish & sound amazing. The ANC works really well & so does the transparency mode. The Mic is great for phone calls as well. Battery lasts long plus it's usbc so it charge's pretty quickly. 100% recommend if your looking for great sounding headphones that are also comfortable & look great. I wish I picked these up when they were on sale for $349 during the Holidays. Pick up & Enjoy.

These headphones are incredibly good at canceling noise. Even windy days will sound like the air is still. Bass is very strong and can be adjusted in the Sony app. I do have some complaints though. They don’t fold as small as the xm4s, they don’t lay on your chest ear cups down (see photo), and they make the gesture sounds with the gestures turned off. The last one is the worst thing about the headphones, which I think says good things about them overall. Again, best ANC I have ever experienced. They are also very comfortable!

The sound on these are fantastic. It has rich Bass. I’m impressed with the options that that it has the app provides a lot of different settings that I never would have thought of with other headsets much more customizable than my Apple AirPods. It also has good integration with different apps and your phone. If you have a Sony TV it has excellent benefits to be able to watch TV using your headset, it integrates really well with Sony and will even pause your show when you take off your headset. The headset is also very light surprisingly light. It does run hot not in physical heat, but in sweetness if it’s hot outside. There’s even some kind of AR game that you can play using the headset. I’m interested in learning more about this as I haven’t had a chance to play with it much yet. If you do have a Sony TV and a PlayStation five you can actually use these as a gaming headset. It won’t have microphone, but you can use your PlayStation 5 controller microphone, but you will get the full surround sound audio so you can still hear those footsteps in COD. Long battery life

These have great noise cancellation and ambient sound settings. I also like the way they fit. They're not too heavy and don't cause me pain after wearing them for several hours even with glasses on. Call/mic, and sound quality are great too. I do wish the battery life was longer, and haven't found a great way to switch between devices without the app (they prioritize my laptop over my phone even if my laptop has no audio and my phone does). I'm sure there's a shortcut to this that I haven't worked out yet, but in the meantime it is annoying.

The main highlight of these headphones is definitely the noise cancellation. It is so awesome and possibly the best headphones in terms of noise cancellation. They easily block out noise in my household when I’m doing homework, and I use them when I play video games as well, when I say they are awesome, they ARE awesome. Ever since purchasing I use them everyday, and they’re quite addicting to use as well. Another thing is they are lightweight. I promise you when you hold them it almost feels like you’re holding nothing, that’s how light they are! When putting them on as well, you barely can tell that you’re wearing them, they don’t leave your ears sore or anything like that, I’ve worn them for hours and not once did I have to adjust them or take them off because I was getting tired of them. They are worth it, trust me.

Been using these headphones for about a month now and I’m loving them. Picked up the Midnight Blue version- looks great and feels super comfortable even for long sessions. The noise cancellation is top-notch. Snagged them at a discounted price during Thanksgiving, which made it an even better deal. Highly recommended!

Hands down, the finest pair of headphones this reviewer has ever worn. Sony took the best-selling, highly rated XM4s, and did the impossible: they made this successor twice as good. The ANC is *phenomenal.* The fit, finish, mic array, comfort, adjustability, bass response, smartphone integration and app control = truly amazing. Excellent pair of headphones, the size and comfort for my big head and i wear them continuously through airport flights. The sound is great quality and the noise cancelation works great they dont fold but the swivel motion avaliable to "flip up or down" the headphones. The battery life is exceptional unless i blatantly leave them on hy accident i always have about 60% even with continuous prolonged use. (Airport overnight)

It has been a very long time since I have had the pleasure of such audio bliss! They are comfortable, and I enjoy how they can recreate a surround sound, fully immersive experience within a headphone. They are exactly as advertised. The reason for 4, rather than 5, stars is that this headphone has no resistance to water, working out, high humidity, etc. I have a set of JVC earbuds worth $50 that have an IP-54 water resistance rating. Yet, Sony is unable to build any resistance into a set of professional quality headphones you can safely work out in? If not for the high sound quality and comfortable build of the unit, it would have cast you 2 stars

Got these on a killer sale- BB worker said it was the cheapest he’d ever seen! Wife simply wanted headphones to silently watch our Sony TV at night and these looked good but didn’t do my normal agonizing research. Stoked I grabbed them and definitely keeping! I have a nice Revel tower HiFi system and these match my discerning taste for sound, though I do t use them outside or for calls.

I really love the sony 1000xm5 headphones! I was going to get the XM6s but unless you are in a super noisy environment like a airplane or airport save your money and buy these! Ive had them for 2 months now and get completely in my zone at the gym i use them everyday for about a hour and a half and leave them in my gym bag only having to charge like every 2 weeks battery life is amazing. The sony app lets you customize the sound profiles noise cancellation! As far as sweat goes i havent had any trouble with it the leatheresk earcups makes moisture just roll off I love these headphones im definitely going team sony over apple and beats

The headphones are comfortable, sounds great, and they keep a charge. The only issue I noticed about them was the connection. The headphones do not connect to everything via Bluetooth. The only way I was able to connect to my laptop and PS5 was via wire. If I wouldn't be able to connect my headphones via Bluetooth to my phone, I would have returned them, because that's what I wanted them for. I use the headphones mostly for my workout music.

These headphones were very comfortable to wear for a very long flight. They sound amazing and have good noise canceling features. The case is very premium and fits well in my backpack. The app that sony made isnt the best but the headphones still work great without doing much in the apl.

Best headphones I have ever purchased. Although these are expensive, they are worth every penny. Very comfortable, & stylish while doing a great job of blocking out background noise. Definitely recommend to anyone considering these.

I am so glad I listened to the young person helping me! These are terrific! The product is superb! The knowledge of the sales associate even better!
