Customer Ratings & Reviews

Great noise canceling and sound quality. The case is really nice and pretty portable. The material is also nice and I like that it folds. They fit very well on my head. I wear glasses, but these headphones don’t feel too uncomfortable with the glasses on. They look very nice and hold charge well. My only real complaint is that they smudge really easy and are annoying to wipe clear, but that’s not that big of an issue.

The Sony WH-1000XM6 truly exceeded every expectation I had for premium headphones. From the moment I put them on, the industry-leading noise cancellation instantly created a completely immersive experience — whether I’m working, studying, traveling, or simply enjoying music. The sound quality is incredibly rich, balanced, and detailed, making every playlist feel cinematic. One of the standout features for me is the seamless multi-device connectivity. Switching effortlessly between my iPhone, work laptop, and MacBook Pro without interruptions has completely elevated my workflow and everyday convenience. Being connected to multiple devices at the same time works flawlessly and makes these headphones an essential tool for both productivity and entertainment. What impressed me most is how perfectly the real-world performance matches — and honestly surpasses — the advertised specs. The battery life lasts far longer than expected, even with heavy daily use, and the comfort level makes them easy to wear for hours without fatigue. On top of that, the design is absolutely stunning: sleek, modern, and undeniably premium. Sony didn’t just make headphones — they created an essential everyday experience. Without a doubt, these are some of the best premium headphones on the market today, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase.

I’m really enjoying my new Sony headphones. The comfort and active noise cancellation (ANC) are the true highlights, making them perfect for casual, all-day wear. I love the color I chose, and the build quality feels incredibly durable. Practical features are excellent: the battery life easily lasts a full day and charges incredibly fast—getting from 0% to 50% in less than 30 minutes. Pairing is simple, and I especially appreciate the slim, well-designed case that tucks neatly into a bag and secures the headphones with a satisfying magnetic lock. While they aren’t the absolute best in pure sound quality (need to tinker with the sound connect app), the overall package is fantastic. It's worth noting a couple of minor points: the microphone quality can struggle in very loud settings, the volume controls took a little getting used to, and the ear cups can get slightly warm during extended use—though not enough to make them unwearable. These are small considerations in an otherwise outstanding experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and feature-rich pair of everyday headphones.

I truly love this product. The sound quality is amazing. The battery life lasts me a week before charging it again, which is amazing. XM6’s ANC is just perfect because I feel like I’m in my own world, and I can’t even hear anything else. The case and the ability to fold are very helpful because they make traveling a lot easier. The weight of these things makes me feel like I’m not wearing anything on my head, and the EQ allows me to adjust the sound profile, so I can make them sound based on what I like. I would say that the build quality is not as good as other headphones for the price, but overall the pros outweigh the cons.

My AirPods Pro’s started dying on me and I wanted to upgrade to over ear headphones, I was considering the AirPod max’s to stay in the eco system but I was turned off by the fact that they haven’t updated much besides adding USB C, and I read some reviews saying they failed after a year or 2 of constant use. I ended up deciding on the XM6’s after many hours of research comparing the 2. The moment I put these headphones on I fell in love! They’re insanely comfy, I can wear them all day without any fatigue, additionally the battery will last me all day with consistent use. They’re extremely light but they don’t feel cheap (great gym headphones), sound quality is superb and noise canceling is top tier. I do enjoy the transparency mode, but it almost works too good, as if you had hearing aids in! It also comes with the best case on the market, the case is durable and compact for traveling. The one draw back I have noticed is the dual Bluetooth connection. I have noticed that it can get hung up on some devices and will not switch over when needed, firmware updates do take awhile, and your ears can get warm if you’re active while using them, however I have worn these headphones for a few 8 hour work days without any discomfort. One other potential drawback is in some places in New York City, I’ve noticed audio drop outs when my phone was in my pocket. I also had this happened on my AirPod pros, but not as jarring. I would give them a perfect score but those issues can be quite annoying for some people. Definitely a 9/10 for me and a bonus is that Best Buy price matched to their Black Friday sale price. I originally bought these on the 11th, and now with the sale they’re even cheaper. I got an additional $30 off. Thanks Best Buy!

My previous sony earbuds fell victim to the popular battery issue in the right bud. I was skeptical of buying yet another Sony product with a battery. Additionally, I'm an audiophile with IEMs that are quite good/expensive, so I have high expectations. With all that said, these headphones are great. Pairing integration with android, connection quality, sound quality and extension, soundstage, etc. the build quality is not the BEST as it is mainly plastic, but it is pretty solid/decent and has mostly held up albeit with a few scratches or stains as I've put months of constant use in. These are so good for my frequent flight schedule, and I love commuting to class with them. After I Eq with Poweramp equalizer, the sound really shines. Even without eq they're quite good. Battery life ain't bad either, I can go over a week without charging them.

If you’re planning on paying for a pair of top-tier headphones, the XM6’s are absolutely worth it, in my opinion/experience. I took them on a week long music tour; and they excelled in every aspect. I used them for multiple hours every day, and not only were they comfortable for extended periods (a common issue with headphones in my experience); I never had to charge them even once. The ANC is truly top-notch; and, even without music playing, they blocked out bus noise/chatter. Obviously, nothing is going to eliminate everything; but with music playing, I couldn’t hear anything outside of my music. The Ambient Sound Mode is super effective. I had perfectly normal conversations without taking the headphones off; and it’s also super easy to switch from ANC to Ambient Mode (just one press of a button, or palming the right ear cup). I was a bit worried about the touch controls; but I’ve not had any issues with it so far; and the new coating on the headphones means that oil smudges from my fingers don’t stick like they did on older models. The app itself is really useful, too; and I’ve had fun experimenting with different sound modes. I’m generally a super careful person, especially with items that cost me a lot of money, so I can’t speak a whole lot on how durable the headphones are; but they seem like they’re quality enough. I do keep them in the case when I’m not using them, though (also, the magnetic case is so much better than a zipper). Overall, the XM6’s are phenomenal headphones. Again, the price is daunting; but so are the prices for every other brand’s flagship headphones; and if you’re already aware of that and planning on spending that kind of money, I recommend these.

For comparison, I have these and the Bose Quiet Comfort as well as several different ANC earbuds and none of these comes close to the noise cancelling as well as passthrough audio quality. A paper shredder running right next to me is just slightly audible that something is running, but if you actually turn on music, you can't hear it at all. You do feel a slight amount of "pressure" with ANC mode on and no sound playing, but it's better than my bose headphones, and I don't notice it at all when music is playing. I can comfortably wear these for hours without any sort of earphone fatigue and never felt it was too tight for my slightly larger than average sized head. Even though the headphone speaker part twists, it's not that comfortable to wear it around your neck as it's a bit tight, but workable in a pinch for a short amount of time. The audio quality out of the box is very good, but I love that it has a 10 band EQ that you can adjust to even fine tune the sound to your exact liking. It has a bunch of presets and you can make your own custom EQs as well. It has settings to make the audio sound like background cafe music if you like working while just "ambient" sound is playing. Battery life so far is excellent and for me at least, I can go multiple days on a single charge. With that said, I do have three complaints with the headphones. It has that really soft feeling rubbery/silicone feel which feels great, but I haven't had luck with that material lasting for 4+ years so I am worried if it will hold up for many years. The material at least with my black color will pick up some oil smudges, especially around the earcups. It's not too bad on the frame, but it is noticable if you're looking for it. The last issue is the price. It is not cheap, but it does fall in line with many other higher end headphones. With sales of other headphones happening regularly though, that may be more appealing than these headphones. Overall, if you feel that ANC is the most important then this is the headphones for you. It offers great sound with a good feature set, but just be aware that there are other audiophile headphones out there that can give this a run for its money.

I recently upgraded from my Sony MDR-1000X headphones, which I’ve owned since 2016, to the new Sony WH-1000XM6, and the difference is night and day. The sound quality of the XM6 is incredible. Everything from music to audiobooks sounds so much clearer and more balanced, with crisp highs and punchy lows that the MDR-1000X just couldn’t match. The spatial audio feature is a game-changer; it makes watching TV shows feel like I’m in a movie theater, with sound that wraps around me in a way the older model never could. I didn’t realize what I was missing until now. The Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANAC) is another huge improvement. With more microphones and a faster processor, the XM6 blocks out noise like never before, it’s like having my quiet bubble. The battery life is also amazing, offering up to 30 hours with ANC on, which is perfect for long trips. I used to worry about charging my MDR-1000X, but with the XM6, that’s no longer an issue. The design is sleeker and more comfortable, and the hard-shell case is much better for traveling. There are also cool new features like Bluetooth LE Audio and a 10-band equalizer, which let me customize my listening experience even more. Overall, the WH-1000XM6 is a fantastic upgrade. Sony has outdone themselves, and I’m thrilled with my purchase!

These headphone are great! I recommend these to anyone. If you take them off, whatever you are listening to pauses. They block out a lot of noise. They come with a nice case and the brand (Sony) has been around for ever and well known. Battery last long too . I'm a small person with a small head and they fit great.

Sure — here’s a version with different wording while keeping the same meaning and tone: --- I’ve been using the XM6 for around a month now and wanted to share my thoughts. Coming from the XM4, the first thing I noticed was the stronger clamping force. It felt a little tight at the beginning, but after an hour or so, it stopped being noticeable and now feels secure rather than uncomfortable. The bass has more depth and impact, which I really enjoy. Vocals come through cleaner and more detailed, without any muddiness. While the XM4 already delivered great sound, the XM6—especially after some EQ adjustments—feels like a clear improvement in overall clarity and sound separation. Instrument layering is handled slightly better too, particularly in complex tracks. I also use these with an AUX cable while playing guitar, and they sound fantastic. One of the biggest surprises was how good they sound in passive mode—when turned off and connected by cable, the sound is still sharp and well-balanced. Battery life matches the advertised performance; it feels like it lasts forever. The noise cancellation is excellent, easily blocking out everything from everyday city sounds to loud kitchen fans. Transparency mode has also been refined, with voices sounding more natural and realistic. All in all, comfort, build quality, audio performance, and features feel like meaningful upgrades. If you’re debating whether to move from the XM4 to the XM6, I’d confidently recommend it, especially for the price.

I’ve been using this for 11 months before writing this review, and this is the best pair of wireless headphones I’ve ever had. I’ve used them for all kinds of activities, both at home and outdoors, and they’ve been great in every situation. The noise cancelling feature is magnificent, and it’s easy to turn it on and off. The sound quality is great, and connecting via Bluetooth is quick and easy. It can also connect to two devices at the same time, so I don’t have to switch connections when using both devices. It only takes about an hour to charge, and the battery lasts a really long time, so I don’t have to spend much time waiting before I can use it again. The build quality is very solid, so I don’t have any concerns like I did with the previous models. I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone looking for something comfortable and reliable. They really make life easier!

Amazing! Pretty pricey, I purchased mine for around $450 USD, but they are so worth it. TLDR - Expensive, but very well worth the price! I took them on a 16 hour plane flight, and I could not hear a single sound of the plane over my music/movie. The battery life is amazing, lasts for multiple days on a full charge and lots of use. I was able to sleep well with them because of the ANC (Active Noise Cancelling.) The ANC is truly amazing. Sony claims that it cancels out around 80% of sound when active, and I would agree with that! The cancellation is just stunninf, and the passthrough mode is perfect for wearing on public while still needing to be aware of your surroundings. Furthermore, there are three modes - normal (standard headphones), background (with three different settings) and cinema (enhanced SFX.) I love cafe for just being around the house doing things, because if someone comes up to me I can easily talk to them without having to do anything. The standard mode with ANC is perfect for studying and really getting things done. Overall, really great headphones! Very travel friendly, very compact, really love them.

The sound quality was amazing, No matter how loud they were they’re not uncomfortable or hurt your ear drum. The headphones themselves are extremely comfortable and i can wear them for hours. I also don’t have to charge them for about a week. definitely reccomend.

I recently purchased the Sony XM6 from Best Buy, and I can confidently say these are the best headphones I’ve ever owned. The sound quality is stunning. Crisp highs, deep punchy bass, and an immersive soundstage that makes every genre of music come alive. The noise cancellation is next-level. I can barely hear anything around me, even in loud environments like public transit or the gym. It’s like stepping into your own quiet world. Comfort is top-tier. I’ve worn them for hours without any discomfort, and the battery life is phenomenal. I’m also impressed by how intuitive the touch controls are, and the transparency mode works great when I need to quickly hear my surroundings. Best Buy had awesome customer service, solid packaging, and the purchase process was smooth from start to finish. Overall, the XM6 exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend to anyone serious about sound quality and comfort.

Highly recommend especially if they are on sale. Light weight, long battery life and great sound quality.

The WH-1000XM6 continues Sony’s tradition of excellence in noise-canceling headphones. The sound quality is outstanding—rich, detailed, and well-balanced across all genres. The improved noise cancellation is noticeably better than the XM4 that I had especially in noisy environments like planes or cafes. Battery life is impressive, easily lasting over 30 hours, and the new design is even more comfortable for long listening sessions. Touch controls are responsive, and the app offers great customization. If you’re looking for premium headphones with top-tier noise cancellation and sound, the XM6 is an excellent choice.

These headphones are outstanding. The sound quality is crisp with deep bass, clean mids, and clear highs that make music and movies really immersive. Noise cancellation is excellent and blocks out background chatter and traffic noise easily. They’re also very comfortable to wear for long periods, with soft padding and a secure fit that doesn’t feel too heavy. Battery life is impressive and lasts all day on a single charge. The build feels premium and durable, and the controls are intuitive and responsive. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied—great value and highly recommended!

I loved the Sony WH-1000XM5’s when I had them they were amazing quality headphones and I honestly didn’t believe that the Sony WH-1000XM6’s could possibly be that much of an improvement over an already great pair of headphones. However, I was dead wrong! These headphones are so much better in nearly every metric. The ANC is markedly improved, the Spatial Audio is no longer a joke, the EQ is now a legitimate EQ unlike the pathetic EQ the XM5’s had. They are also more comfortable, they were always comfortable but they remain comfortable during multiple hour sessions of wear. They also fixed the mistake they made with the XM5’s in that you can fold these so they are more compact when you need to store them. Then there is the case and I honestly thought it was going to be a piece of junk but the replacement of the zipper for a magnetic seal on the case really shocked me at what a great idea it is. All of my cases with zippers inevitably break off after a certain amount of use but the magnetic closure just snaps shut and stays shut. They also added a power button and a button to toggle between ANC and ambient noise but unfortunately everything else is still operated by swiping or touching and in my experience it’s either too sensitive or not sensitive enough to work reliably and incrementally. They are also $100 bucks cheaper than Apple’s Max but even at $448 dollars I think is asking a lot from the customer so if I had to advise someone I would tell them to definitely buy the XM6’s but they should probably wait until it goes on sale during one of the upcoming holidays. Overall these are without a doubt the best pair of headphones that I have ever owned and I’ve tried and owned quite a lot of different brands and models so these set a very high bar that in the market right now I just don’t see anyone coming close to this level of excellence!

While battery life, audio, response tines, and noise cancellation have improved, the MX6's materials are comparable to, or even worse than, the MX5's. A significant improvement is the redesigned headband, which no longer suffers from the micro-fractures and stress cracks that caused the MX5's headband to fall apart where rotating joints should have been. However, Sony for whatever reason removed the headband joints connecting to the earmuff, a standard feature on most headphones. This design oversight undermined the otherwise innovative and unbeatable MX5s. Compounding this, after a price drop in May 2026, Sony released the "Collexion" edition, which rectifies these design and material issues but costs an extra $100, leaving early buyers with regret. I advise either buying the discounted MX5s with an extended warranty or opting for the Collexion edition.
