Q: Is this going to become available in 512GB on here? I'm definitely willing to wait...
A: Why would you wait?? It has expandable memory up to 1TB
Q: Is this phone compatible with Att 5G and Verizon 5G?
A: AT&T, no (it lacks the 2 mmWave bands AT&T uses) but Verizon, yes (although, only on the Sub-6GHz network since, again, this phone appears to lack mmWave).
A: The phone was actually in stock 8/25/2021. They fulfilled new orders with 1-day shipping options, but neglect pre-orders and just say will arrive before Sep 27th.
Q: Why does the release date show as 9/26 on Best Buy, but the release date on other sites shows 8/19?
A: Looks like Best Buy re-adjusted the date to August 19th like everyone else so all is well with the world again.
A: That is a bogus answer you received from the other person. Wifi calling is a feature that can be implemented by either the manufacturer or carrier of your service. I know this because I bought a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and it was the unlocked variant. I added my existing sim card to it and wifi calling was in the options setup. My girlfriend has a Sony XZ2 Compact and it isn't an option. I also had the XZ Premium and it did not have wifi calling either. My Pixel 5 also has wifi and I bought the unlocked variant as well. Like I said Sony is just dropping the ball with wifi calling. I know this because the Xperia 1 II didn't include it either. I'm sure the Xperia 1 III won't have it as well. That being said I still pre ordered and will just take my pixel along with me in case I need that feature when traveling and if I have to I'll swap my sim card. It's amazing Sony gets so much right but they leave out such an important feature.
A: Nope, Best Buy seems to be doing their Best to ghost everyone on this. I ordered mine on July 6 and have received only one update highlighting the mid Aug release dates. Call/chat with customer service and they have zero info in front of them to provide any insight. If Sony is not diligently updating major vendors like Best Buy shame on them. If this extends into October I'm done. Only so much patience for this product and lack of customer information. I did receive the headphones by the way, which are nice. But would have rather received the phone and be left wondering where the headphones were.
A: I have the XZ as well. I love this phone and am so sad to retire it. But I read the Sony website that yes, the 1 Mark iii will be the best replacement and will work with 5G
Q: Will this phone work with AT&T after they sunset 3G in 2022?
A: Yes. This phone is listed as a compatible phone post 3G shut down on AT&T's most recently published list.
