Customer Ratings & Reviews

I pre-order this game and did receive my free Splatoon 3 keychain! It's a bit smaller than I imagined, but it still looks great. At first, I wasn't sure how much new stuff they would add to Splatoon 3, especially since Splatoon 2 was released on the same console. Splatoon 3 has made some good improvements from Splatoon 2. More Customization: They've added more customization options for your Inkling or Octoling characters. New hairstyles, new clothes, etc. Of course, there are some returning hairstyles and clothing. Speaking of clothes. Not only can you customize what abilities you want for those 3 slots, but now you can also change the main ability as well. For example: Instead of having Ink Server as your main ability, you can change it into Ninja Squid. New Customizable Locker: You have your own personalized locker. You can customize your locker with stickers, change the color of the locker, add in items such as weapons, clothes, knick knacks, etc. New Weapons and Specials: There are 2 new class weapons. The Splatana and the 3-string bow. There a new specials that are exclusive to Splatoon 3 and a few returning specials from Splatoon 2. The weapons are better balanced than it was in Splatoon 2. New Tableturf Mode: They added a brand new mode called Tableturf. It's a card game. It's a bit weird at first, but it's actually kinda fun. You're basically playing Turf War, but in card game form. There are brand new maps and returning maps but the returning maps have been altered for a bettling online experience. One returning map is Maui Maui Resort from the first Splatoon game. It's been revamped quite a bit that I didn't even recognized at first. But overall, it looks much better. Of course, Nintendo plans on brining more maps in the future. Better Salmon Run: Salmon Run is better, too. Instead of waiting for it to become available at certain times, you can now go into Salmon Run at ANY time. Plus, there a couple of new maps for Salmon Run, and one returning map. New salmonid bosses. And most importantly, you can now throw the salmon eggs! This is a BIG game changer. You couldn't do this in Splatoon 2. You can either throw the eggs into the basket or throw them to your teammates that are closer to the basket. Also, they've added a new Xtra Wave mode (when you fill up a meter) to face King Cohozuna - which is a brand new huge salmonid boss. We also have 3 brand new idols that give out the news and when the next map rotations are. Their names are Shiver, Frye, and Big Man! They are great! During the game, you do get to know them better - which makes me like them even more. Splatfest: Splatfests make a return as well. This time around, when you're walking around Splatsville with the Splatfest theme, they really make it feel like an actual festival. More so than the other previous Splatoon games. So, now we have 3 different teams. They also introduce a brand new mode for Splatfest. A Tri-color Turf War! Depending who's taking the lead during Splatfest, the other two teams will battle the winning team in this 3-way tricolor turf war. Big Run: There's another new special event called Big Run that's coming soon to Splatoon 3. It's a new event where the Salmonids invade the turf war maps and you have to defeat them. Turf Mode & Anarchy Mode: Turf War is basically just inking the whole map. Anarchy Battle has a few different modes. New Abilities: Splatoon 3 has added two new abilities that your Inkling or Octoling can do. Squid Roll and Squid Jump. Squid Roll is when you swimming forward, but if you flick the control stick the opposite way and while pressing down the B button, it will cause your character to Squid Roll and it also acts as a parry attack. Squid Jump is when you are swimming up a wall, press and hold ZR button and then let go once your character gives a flash indicator to let go of the button. Your character will quickly swim up the wall and jump up in the air. Rainmaker, Tower Control, Splat Zones, and Claim Blitz. These modes also received some improvements as well. With Rainmaker there are checkpoints - which is very helpful. Claim Blitz - you only need to collect 8 claim shells instead of 10 - which is very helpful because you would collect so many claims only to lack 1 or 2. So, I say that's an improvement. The cool thing about playing online is that they've changed how people respawn. Every player has their own spawning point that is placed high into the air. This is good considering how in Splatoon 1 & 2 you would have people camping around your base. Not to mention, there's only 1 respawn point. But in Splatoon 3, they've changed that. Story Mode: This mode is basically teaching you the basics of how to play the game. It took what was great about Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC and applied it here. Which works really well. The story has an interesting plot twist and has a cool final boss. There are some people thinking that this is Splatoon 2.5 and that there isn't enough brand new content to justify this 3rd sequel. That it could have been just updated with Splatoon 2. I don't completely agree with this statement. but I do understand their concerns. If I were to guess, it's probably because that Splatoon 3 has been released on the same console and that it was released 5 years later. It's so weird because it doesn't feel like it's been 5 years since Splatoon 2. To them, it probably feels like Splatoon 3 was released too soon. As for me, I felt like they did make enough changes to justify the 3rd sequel. After playing it since September, I think it's a better experience, they made a whole lot of improvements that was lacking in Splatoon 2. Technical Issues: During the release of this game, there were some technical issues. Most of them were ironed out. but there are still a few bugs. Most of it is online disconnections. Nintendo is continuing to update the game to make it better. This also happened with the launch of Splatoon 2 until they were fixed. This is the minor gripe I have with the game, but I still enjoy the game. Overall, I would still recommend this game because it's a fun game to play by yourself or with friends. Whether if you're new to the series or just wanted to know if it was worth it. I say it's worth it.

125 hours into the game and I can’t get enough. The connectivity issues make it a bit frustrating to play but the quality of life improvements from Splatoon 2 make it worth the purchase. If you’re looking for reliable matchmaking, go with 2 but if you want more competitive lobbies and all the perks of Splatfests and new content with the added Seasons feature, I highly recommend 3. Also, the cover art on the inside of the case is pretty cool.

I’ve been playing Splatoon since the first release on the Wii U, so I may be a bit biased, but this is one of the best, if not the best franchise I have ever kept up to date with. Although I wasn’t impressed with Splatoon 2’s base game, with pvp’s specials being lackluster and the campaign being more or less the same as 1’s, 3’s campaign has thoroughly impressed me with its sheer uniqueness, creativity, and challenge. The pvp, though certainly not polished since it’s only been about a month since released, feels wonderfully chaotic with the newly included specials, cutting no corners when it comes to each one’s design. My only huge issue with it right now is Nintendo Online’s servers, which will give you proper matchmaking and prevent random disconnects maybe around 40 percent of the time. That is certainly not the game’s fault, and this will get better once Nintendo finds out they don’t have to power servers with a potato. All in all a fantastic game. I thought I wouldn’t get back into Splatoon and I put those days behind me, but, here I am, thoroughly obsessed once again.

love this game!!! i was skeptical about this latest release since splatoon 2 also came out on the switch, but they’ve improved and added so much that it really does deserve the ‘3’. the campaign alone is beautiful and filled with inkling lore which i didn’t know i needed until i had it. my only complaint is the multiplayer. sadly, the connection issues are as bad as ever for me, it’s just as bad as with splatoon 2, but i’ve heard that the issues are less with the OLED if you have it. Overall, extremely worth it and I don’t see myself putting this down anytime soon (at least not until i unlock the dab emote)

They didn’t ruin it. It’s more like a sequel to Splatoon 2, meaning, kept all the good stuff and refined the rest. Just as fun, if you were good with a weapon in S2, you still are, except you’ll have a few variants to really dial in).

SPlatoon is back and as a fan of the series, I am happy to say the game is top notch! Multiplayer is fun and the the single player campaign is a good time.

This game is really good. It took the Splatoon 2 formula and improved it. Also, I don’t understand why the people on here are giving it a 1 star review because the game arrived late. It’s not the games fault that it arrived late you imbeciles!

This game is AWESOME!!! I love it as a long time splatoon player and it has multiple improvements to splatoon 2. Great game to play with friends or just to sit down after a long day to chill to. has a good story mode and multiplayer.

I bought this game to play with my friends, but yet somehow it became a political war because I wanted to play an octoling and they wanted a all squidling squad. Anyways besides that super fun game

This is a must have for all switch owners! Fun for hardcore and casual players. It’s very similar to Splatoon 2 but I think it’s still with getting nonetheless

yes its not a big leap from Splatoon 2 but its been fined tune to almost perfection & getting through place to place as well as matches is very convenient

This game is fantastic! I’ve been an avid Splatoon player since the first game and Splatoon Three blew me away with all the new features and things to do.

My fave game overall great community and fun modes make this game a really good buy!!

Great multiplayer game. Love playing this game. It’s too addictive.

I love the game so far Had trouble in a few places in the game but got through it

It’s fun just like Splatoon 57 can’t wait for the next Splatoon game

Definitely on the best Splatoon game of the franchise
