While technically it is not the 1st Russian movie in 3d (apparently there was a 3d film produced in 1941) it is the 1st modern 3d film. No efforts were spared to make this one of the best examples of 3d film making. The 3d aspect of the film was handled by 3ality Technica, one of the Hollywood company at the forefront of 3d technology. In addition, the production values were outstanding, with Stalingrad having been reproduced in exact detail. That being said, the plot and characters were somewhat pedestrian. I have a fairly extensive collection of 3d movies and this is one of the best examples of 3d technology. I rank this up with Avatar and Hugo as what 3d can be. If your home theater has 3d capability, this film will be a great addition to your collection.

I had seen a trailer and saw it was in 3D so it was a must buy. I found it on sale at BB so I picked it up. I was surprised when it started out in modern day. Then it time shifts to WWII. I was expecting it but the 3D and Surround were really great and got involved with the movie. The modern to WWII made you wondering what was happening. It all comes together and I did recommend it to a stranger.

Nothing beats watching the spectacle that this movie is on a giant IMAX 3D screen. Unfortunately, it suffers from overly patriotic tendencies A La Michael Bay movies but the overall feel of this movie is that it entertains. Visually, it's stunning. The costumes, the sets, the cinematography and the 3D effects are all top notch. I hope one day they may do a second one.

Action scenes were superb! The English overdubbing never should have been added. Hearing the German soldiers speak in German added to the realism. Some of the overdubbed voices sounded like one of my computer war games--Panzers Phase 1. Also, the romance was a bit much, especially for an epic battle such as Stalingrad (same thing holds true for Enemy at the Gate). Too bad the German Stalingrad version 1992 was not made as realistic as this latest version. One last negative--German Tanks--Mark IV were placed on T-54/55s. Being a war buff, that sort of spoiled the realism, but I let it slide.

Movie line based on a battle in Stalingrad Russia. A depiction of one of the battles that turned the tide of the second World War against Hitlers Germany. Not the type of movie where you see super soldiers taking out mass numbers of enemy soldiers. Realistic and believable.

I was expecting a front line, in the trenches war movie. There was some action and war violence but it was more about a small group of guys and there interaction with a resident who wouldn't move out of her home. The movie was OK but I was hoping it would have been more of a historical movie about the struggle to keep Stalingrad but it was very realistic in my opinion. I still would recommend this movie even though I gave it 3 stars.

If you like epic Russian novels with all their depressing angst, This movie has all of that plus World War II action and lots of particulate matter flying off the screen into you face. Few movies do the 3D effect this well, but most don't require the mental investment and reading of subtitles that this one does.

A World War II story epic told from a different perspective. Personal stories, action, and quiet moments intricately woven into one big story. Even though the movie runs approximately 131 minutes (short by traditional epic movie running times), it was an adequate amount of time for me to get to know the main characters. Watching "Stalingrad" I felt like I was there in the midst of all that was going on. The superb production and direction resulted in a film that is visually stunning with sound to match. I was drawn into this movie from the first scene and watched intensely until the last scene. The narrative is well done and effective in making the story more personal. "Stalingrad" is much more than a war movie. It is a movie that balances the ugliness of war and selfishness with the beauty of comradeship and self-sacrifice.

The film picture is great during action scenes. My only dislike is that it fells propangish and protrays the Russians as righteous at Stalingrad. Yes the fought valiantly and heroiclly but they fought without an honor code. Which was nessecarry to win that battle against the Germans.

If you are looking for an 'In your face' 3D movie, I would not suggest this. Nothing really popping out at you or anything like that. Overall though, it is a pretty solid and entertaining movie. Good action sequences. Great audio and video quality. Good movie for any war film fan.

I'm always a little skeptical about buying 3d movies that are not animations because the 3d depth is just not as eye popping as animations but I was completely wrong when I saw this movie for $10 plus another Blu-ray at BestBuy. Definitely worth it if you like war movies too.

Historically it's better than most Hollywood offerings in that it does not wave the US flag. It is a excellent portrayal of one of the most brutal battles of WWII. Nothing was spared in the telling of this event and right up there with Saving Private Ryan as a modern classic.

Very gritty WW II account of one of military histories greatest battles...intense action scenes, with added treat of increased depth throughout,if you view the 3 D version. Not Hollywood....much better acting .

The movie depicts the stale mate between the Russians and the Germans in Stalingrad, Russia. The action sequences are so real and intense. The director did a good job showing a small group of Russian soldiers hold the German army from advancing through the town.

I really liked the movie, but the only downside was that it was made in Russia and the voices were dubbed in as English. It wasn't bad, it's just funny to watch how the characters lips were moving at times

Wasn't expecting a lot but was pleasantly surprised. Not as dark as the original and the 3D version of this film was enjoyable. Good acting and clean delivery even if the last battle scene is far fetched.

I was pleasantly surprised by this WW2 film that it provides much more than a specific event in history & much like Enemy at the Gates, shows that even in the midst of war, human emotion exists and gets intensified over what we've had and what we've lost.

The movie itself was good for accuracy of military subjects, but a little weak on acting. The 3-D effects were interesting at times, especially one scene when the Soviets are attacking while on fire. I bought the movie mainly because I recently bought a 4K, 3-D TV and wanted something 3-D to watch. It was worth the $10 I paid for it.

Decent historical account of battle of Stalingrad, proving to be the pivitol battle in WWII. This movie is as long as the battle was and sometimes slow, but overall a decent movie and mildly entertaining.
