When I don’t have any particular photographic adventures to go on, I often walk through town and shoot buildings, churches, etc. For a while, I was using a 50mm, which is a 75mm on my camera. Not ideal for wide shots, but I didn’t really like my kit lens. I finally purchased this, and after a handful of uses, I’m satisfied with the results. On a crop body, this lens is 25.5-42mm, which makes it a pretty decent walk around lens. It’s bigger and heavier than my other lenses, but that was expected since it’s a full frame. Manual focus ring is smooth. Zooms in and out easily as well. It’s sharp throughout the zoom range and I haven’t noticed any particularly soft edges or anything like that. I suppose it’ll be a more specialized Lens when I graduate to a full-frame camera, but for the crop sensor it can do a bit of everything.

The lense worth its price. Light, sharp, and cheap. The 17mm wide angle is wide eanough for me, especially at this price. The big aperture allows more possibilities.

The 17-28mm brings a focal range that I desperately needed and the static 2.8 through the range aperture means I can isolate my subject at any focal length. Sharpest at around f4 from edge to edge no issues with fringing or coma and minimal distortion that is easily fixed in post. I will admit that Lightroom has yet to produce a lens profile for this one, but I am sure it’s on its way. Tamron has thrown down the gauntlet going toe to toe with the g master series. Just need a telephoto zoom now!
