Tangem - Wallet Classic - 3 pack - Black

I've been using the Tangem Soft Wallet for about 2 months.  I finally decided to get their hard wallet, mostly for security reasons. I wanted to give my wife access to "our" Crypto assets, and the same for our daughter (if/when necessary).  I looked at almost all other options and decided I did not want another device which has to be charged and could be lost/damaged, but can't easily be duplicated.  I wanted something that did not rely solely on BT or WiFi as I have concerns that these could be monitored (and standards could change over time).  And I really didn't want it to have a battery or a special connector (read USB) (as they can become obsolete over time).  Having used Tangem for a bit I was familiar with its strengths and weaknesses (many of which could be overcome). The package the three cards came in is nice, but nothing special.  All instructions online via QR code.  Each of the 3 cards has a unique 16 digital code on the back so you can tell them apart, but once you set up the cards as backup devices each is equivalent to the others.  The cards themselves are identical in size and weight to a credit card except there is no magnetic strip or EMV chip, but there is a NFC antenna (not marked as so) within the card (that's how it works).  As I'd been using their app for sometime I already had it on my iPhone.  Once I held the card up to the top of the phone it offered to start the Tangem app.  From there I had the option of creating a new card (keeping the prior soft wallet) or upgrading the soft wallet to the new card.  Since I had provided instructions to use the prior soft wallet for other deposits I chose the new card option.  Once this was done I had the option to make backup card(s), I did this for both additional cards.  It then required me to finalize the backup set up option.  I could now shut down the app and scanning the card would bring up the new (still empty) hardware wallet.  I then transferred several partial tokens from my soft wallet to my new hard wallet.  To do this you must pay any required "gas" fees.  I also tried converting from one token on the soft wallet while transferring the proceeds to my new hard wallet.  All of this worked as expected.  At the top of the app it tells you what wallet you're dealing with, if you scan a card you automatically are dealing with your hard wallet.  You can slide the wallet's name left to find your soft wallet (this took me a while to find - the app should better show "stacked cards" if you have more than one choice).  The app makes it very easy to swap between tokens (with fees) or to swap to stablecoins (with no fees). When buying  or selling you can easily convert from token values to your default currency.  There are a number of token/network combinations not supported.  For example my Trust Wallet had Cronos using EVM and ETH in it, but Tangem could only accept Cronos via ETH.  Same situation for Tron, all networks are supported.  So you do have to be careful to make sure to select the right token on the right network, especially if many networks are supported by a token (here again their app could be more helpful, but most have similar limitations (ie. Coinbase does not play well with Tether, but Tether is well supported on Trust and Crypto.com). Tangem supports over 80 blockchain networks and more than 16,000 cryptocurrencies.  But because a network is supported, it does not mean all cryptos that can use that network are supported for any given currency. My biggest gripe with Tangem is that there is no easy way (without using another platform) to transfer funds with a Fiat Currency (say USD) from/to a bank account to your Tangem wallet.  Many services use Plaid or Apple Pay via linked accounts, but Tangem does not do this even with/for wire transfers.  You can't send a fiat currency directly to your Tangem wallet.  If you stick to the Crypto world this is fine.  But I find that I need to move money to/from my bank accounts and to do this you need another crypto service (like Crypto.com, coinbase etc).  I'd also like to use my Tangem card like a debit card, tap and pay with your pre-selected cryptocurrency.  I'm not sure that anyone does this, but when they do it would be a big step forward for crypto in general.  I know a number of crypto sites have their own branded credit cards, you generally get usage rewards in the form of a crypto currency added to your account. In general I found the setup very easy. Selecting what cryptos you want to populate your wallet with, means you must also select the network to be used then (to a new user this is more complicated as you are not that aware of the different networks).  Setting up the backup with the generated key was very easy.  The speed that the card is recognised is excellent.  The fact that there are no batteries or additional devices to deal with is a huge advantage.  The ability to organise currencies by group and order them as you like is very convenient (user friendly).  Even though all cards when paired are essentially the same, I do wish without going to device settings it told you which card was being used (maybe last 4 digits only).  And under Account I wish I could change groups and reorder the list, today it only allows me to manage tokens (add new tokens/networks), this seems like an intuitive place to do this.  I really did not do anything with dApps (connected WEB3 sessions); as this is a feature I personally rarely use (but you might find it necessary - it is included).  I love the durability of the card, they will be very difficult to damage.  I personally like the simple black card, maybe making a carbon fiber version would look cooler.  But for my purposes it does what I wanted it to do.  But in the future please let me use it to buy something directly from Amazon.  But it will require more cooperation from both parties... I do foresee it coming!

I’m pretty impressed with the Tangem Wallet Classic, mostly because it takes a very simple idea and actually makes it feel safe enough for real money. These are just NFC cards that are credit card sized, no battery, no little screen to break, and the whole job of each card is to hold your private keys and sign transactions. That’s it, and I actually like that level of minimalism. The system makes a lot of sense to me (after I figured it out, which took me forever to wrap my head around). You use the Tangem app, but nothing can leave your wallet unless you have the physical card and your passcode together. Incoming transfers are easy, but for outgoing ones you’re basically forced to prove you’re you in two different ways every time. I put it through some tests with BTC in and out, and everything behaved exactly the way it should, which helped my confidence a lot. The one thing that gives me pause is that I can’t see the seed at all. There’s no little phrase to write down and stick in a drawer. Everything stays inside the card. On one hand, that makes it harder to leak or get hacked; on the other, it means if you lose all three cards, you’re done. I ended up splitting the cards across different locations as soon as I understood that. I also like that the signing happens directly on the card, not in the app or out on the internet. It feels genuinely “hardware wallet–ish,”. You do have to accept that you’re married to the Tangem app, and for really large amounts of long-term storage I’d still consider something more manual primarily because Tangem is fairly new in the whole world of crypto, but as it gets more used, that feeling will go away. As a first step into cold storage for me, with no seed management and a very clear set of rules, I get it and I like it. RECOMMENDED!

Tangem is a new way to securely store your cryptocurrency assets. What first struck me as unique about this product and its design is that it has no USB cables, no Bluetooth pairing required, no firmware updates, and no batteries to charge. It stores your security key in a secure chip embedded within the card, and checking your assets is as simple as tapping the card on your phone, using your facial recognition to verify it is you, and viewing the app. The wallet is set up securely on your card by use of your personal phone and biometric data stored on your phone. This is a cold wallet that can store your private key and sign transactions offline directly with the blockchain. It is not connected to the internet, which significantly increases its security. Tangem does not register users; there is no KYC because Tangem does not register wallets or accounts; there is never a way for Tangem to identify or control your wallet. The cryptocurrency does not live on the app or the card. It stays on the blockchain and is keyed to the certified secure EAL6+ CC chip within the card. The EAL6+CC-certified chip in the card generates a private key using a true random number generator during the wallet setup. The private security key is made during the setup within the chip’s physical sensors. The key is always on the chip within the card and never leaves the card. No one, not even you, will ever be able to find out the private key. It is not on a server somewhere, but the transaction is through your card, via your private security key, which acts as your signature, and transacts directly to the blockchain. The security backup to your Tangem is owning backup cards. You can purchase a 2- or 3-card pack, each containing a main card and either 1 or 2 backup cards. After initial wallet setup and activation, all cards share the same personal security key. In setup, the app configures each additional card to be identical to the main card that holds the master private key. You just need to make sure your phone supports NFC; unless it is an older phone, most Android phones and iPhones do. Another point about this wallet’s setup that initially struck me as less secure was that I did not need a 12-24-word seed phrase. When I understood that all transactions reside on the blockchain, that the secure private key lives on the chip in the card, and that, with the 3-card set that I have, I have two backup copies, I realized I did not need one. Honestly, keeping up with the seed phrase made me nervous about holding money in a wallet tied to it. I do not need the seed phrase with this. I have two backup cards that already have the private key securely stored on their chips. Sending crypto allows the private key to act as your signature for the transaction, but only the private key that enables this lives within the card. Setting up the wallet and backup cards was very quick and easy. You do have the option to import a wallet that may have a seed phrase that carries over and can be used on this card, or you can set up a new wallet with zero assets and no need for a seed phrase, then transfer your assets into the Tangem wallet. The card is the size of a credit card, and by tapping it to the back of your phone, the app will set up the wallet and guide you through the next steps. It was an amazingly simple, straightforward, streamlined process to get the whole wallet set up in about 3 minutes. The Tangem cards are waterproof and dustproof, with a minimum lifespan of 25 years, and this warranty is provided by Samsung, which manufactures the chip. The cards are protected against electromagnetic pulses, electrostatic discharge, and X-rays. There is also a ring option that is manufactured of irconia ceramic. It works on the exact same principle and has two cards for backups. It uses the same Samsung-manufactured EAL6+CC-certified chip that is embedded in the cards. Its security is further aided by the fact that the ring must be removed from the finger, physically placed against the rear of the phone, and your biometric data must be accessed and approved by your phone for any asset transaction to take place. There is no chance that someone can access the chip while it is on your finger. Crypto is becoming more common. Many hardware and cold wallets on the market have been much more difficult to use. I even fell for a phishing scam when I was busy, where I was told to update the wallet manually because it was outdated, etc. Online wallets are highly vulnerable to hacking and theft, and even though I was initially skeptical of the Tangem wallet, I am now totally sold on this product. It is the most secure that I have ever studied or used. As crypto becomes more popular, more payments are accepted and made using cryptocurrency. A benefit offered by Tangem is a card that connects to your crypto account and can be used to make payments. It is a virtual card similar to a credit card in your phone’s wallet, but it has zero interest. It does have fees for overdue payments, insufficient transactions, etc. But it does offer a much easier way to use your cryptocurrency to pay for everyday purchases that accept crypto. If you are new to using cryptocurrency, this is unmistakably the most secure and easiest setup that I have seen or used. Even though I keep very secure security systems on all my devices, phishing scams and account hacking have become very sophisticated. I have had accounts compromised, both online and by using a USB hardware wallet. This product completely eliminates that possibility, as well as the stress and other losses that accompany unauthorized activity on your online accounts. Keeping all of your personal information and transactions off the internet as much as possible is the best way to secure your personal life. I highly recommend this product.

The Tangem crypto wallet 3 pack takes a unique spin on cold storage by ditching the traditional seed phrase. I used all three as identical backups for one wallet. Lose one? You've got two spares! From what I can tell during setup, you can also live on the edge and configure each card as a separate wallet. Setup only took a few minutes. Download the app, tap each card to my phone, done. No cables, no batteries, no firmware updates. The passive NFC design means nothing mechanical to wear out. Tangem claims a 25 year life span and cards are IP69K waterproof/dustproof, rated for -25°C to 80°C. The app supports over 85 blockchains. Transaction signing requires the physical card tap plus your PIN. Note the phone only interface, no hardware screen for transaction verification, and losing all three cards means unrecoverable loss without a seed phrase. The overall experience was very positive. The process was dead simple and removed the biggest friction point for newcomers. It's an excellent entry point to cold storage and self custody without the complexity or more traditional options.

I have been using the Tangem Wallet Classic 3-pack for about a week now, and so far I have been really happy with it. This is the first hardware crypto wallet I have ever owned, so I was definitely a little nervous moving my coins off an exchange for the first time. The initial setup was straightforward, and the Tangem app does a good job walking you through the process. I did run into a few hiccups getting my phone to recognize the cards through NFC, although I'm not sure if that was an issue with the cards or simply because I never use NFC on my phone. After a couple of tries, everything connected and worked as expected. Once all three backup cards were configured, it was time to transfer some cryptocurrency from Coinbase. Since this was my first time doing anything like this, I was pretty cautious. I started by transferring a very small amount before sending more, just to make sure I understood the process and that everything arrived safely. The instructions in the app left me with a couple of questions, so I watched a quick YouTube video demonstrating the transfer process. After seeing it done once, I realized I had been overthinking it. Transferring my XRP was surprisingly simple. I copied my wallet address from the Tangem app, pasted it into Coinbase, double-checked everything, and submitted the transfer. The transaction only took a few seconds to appear, and the entire process was much easier than I expected. After successfully completing a few smaller transfers, I felt comfortable moving the rest of my coins. One of my favorite features is that there is no traditional recovery seed phrase to write down or worry about losing. Instead, the private keys are securely generated and stored on the Tangem cards themselves, with the additional cards serving as secure backups. For someone new to self-custody, this made the experience feel much less intimidating. I was also impressed by the overall presentation. The packaging has a premium matte black finish with glossy black lettering, and the cards themselves look sleek and well-made. I also like that Tangem offers unbranded cards for people who prefer a little more privacy if they happen to lose their wallet. Another nice touch is the minimalist design. There are no cables, batteries, or built-in screens to worry about. Everything is managed through the mobile app while the cards securely store your private keys. Tangem advertises a lifespan of up to 25 years for the cards, backed by a 25-year warranty, which is reassuring for a product designed for long-term storage. Overall, I have really enjoyed my experience so far. As someone completely new to hardware wallets, I found the learning curve much easier than I expected. Most importantly, I have much greater peace of mind knowing my cryptocurrency is now stored in cold storage instead of sitting on an exchange. If you've been hesitant to make the move like I was, the Tangem Wallet Classic makes the process surprisingly approachable.
