I love this TCL 75-inch S55LR Roku TV. The first thing that stands out is the size—and surprisingly, the weight. Seventy-five inches is huge, and I love it. When it was delivered, two guys brought it to my garage, so I assumed it must be really heavy. Wrong! This TV only weighs about 40 pounds. I was able to bring it into the house by myself, although the box was a little awkward because of how wide it is. I upgraded from an older 65-inch TV to this 75-inch smart TV, and the difference is huge when watching movies, sports, or just regular TV. The picture is sharp and clear, with good color and 4K quality that looks great for streaming. We use YouTube TV for regular television, and the picture right out of the box was amazing. I asked AI what settings might work best, and after making a few adjustments, the picture looked even better. I changed the picture mode to Movie, which made skin tones and surrounding images look more natural. I also adjusted the backlight so the colors wouldn't look washed out. Finally, I moved the sharpness setting to zero to avoid adding unnecessary processing to 4K content. After those adjustments, the picture looks amazing. One of my favorite things about this TV is how easy the Roku system is to use. I have other Roku TVs, so moving apps around the home screen is a breeze. I like to remove the apps I don't use so the ones I use most are right at the top of the home screen for easy access. Everything is simple to find, and switching between apps and live TV is straightforward. The menus are easy to navigate, which is something I really appreciate compared to some smart TVs that can feel overly complicated. It's also nice that Roku offers plenty of free channels, movies, news, and sports for people who don't pay for TV. Being a sports fanatic, it is totally awesome watching all my favorite sports on this gigantic screen. HDR helps provide good contrast and vivid picture quality, while the Motion Rate 240 with MEMC helps keep fast-moving action smooth and clear during sporting events and action movies. I had to look up how MEMC worked, and whatever genius created it deserves a raise. It creates additional frames to help motion appear smoother on the screen. It's way above my pay scale, but I definitely appreciate that someone came up with it for my TV-watching enjoyment! My kids are serious gamers, so they probably wouldn't use a TV this large for competitive FPS gaming, but I can't wait to hook up my Switch and play fun games like Mario Kart. Mario is going to be huge! The TV itself has a very clean design, with little to no bezel around the screen. The three HDMI ports on the back are easy to access for connecting peripherals. The main one I used was the HDMI eARC port to connect my soundbar. Connecting to my wireless home network was also very easy. The quick setup screens walk you through the process step by step. I also like having the option to connect through an Ethernet cable if the Wi-Fi in the house ever gets a little buggy. Another feature I like is Bluetooth personal audio. I can pair my headphones with the TV for private listening, which is great for late-night viewing without disturbing anyone else. Overall, I think this is a great TV for the price, especially if you're looking for a large screen without spending a fortune. It may not have all the premium features of a much more expensive TV, but for everyday watching, streaming, movies, and sports, it does everything I need. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a big, easy-to-use smart TV.

For the past year, had a HiSense 75" TV that has been nothing but a source of irritation, so had been looking at replacements. Among other things, its Android software took as long as a Windows desktop just to startup, constantly lost connection with my soundbar, and had built-in lag responding to its remote. Fortunately, this new TCL has none of the above issues. Immediately upon unboxing, I noticed it was relatively light and thin for its size. As I already had a heavy duty swivel mount on the wall, I was ready for mounting - which brings up the only problem I had with this TV. The mounting holes for this TV are located as far to the bottom of the set as possible. As my bracket was mounted midway up the wall, this meant that the final position of the TV would be located within inches of the ceiling. Some may prefer it this way, but my wife did not! If you're using a new bracket (there is a recommended mount in the instructions), it would not be a problem, you would simply mount the bracket in a lower position on the wall. There is another workaround, extension brackets are available to either raise or lower your bracket to a suitable position, and I'll be getting a pair to lower the TV another 6 or 8 inches. That said, it's a great set. The picture is beautifully sharp and vivid, with a myriad of controls. I prefer to keep a bright tone, while the wife prefers a more cinematic setting. My Verizon cable connection has 4K available for main sporting events, when you tune to a channel such as ESPN, a message comes on the screen "do you want to switch to 4K?", and of course I say "Yes, please!" I could reiterate the specs for the TV, which I generally take with a grain of salt, but I've watched a lot of baseball, football, auto racing, etc, and did not notice any type of artifacts or motion blur. Sharp as a tack. Remotes today are getting a little cryptic and confusing nowadays, I was glad to see this TV included Roku controls. The platform has been around quite awhile now, and not much has changed at all with their remotes. Yes, it's missing the 0-9 characters, but that makes it uncluttered and easy to work when you're in the dark. That's where you watch your TV, right? Roku got it right from the start, and didn't change the setup with new "features." Kudos to them. I have the major streaming channels - Netflix, Apple, Disney, from the start I had no burps from the Wifi setup of the set. Well, Paramount is a slug, but that's their problem, not the TV's. One more thing that pleased me was I have a brand new on the market Bose soundbar. As soon as I plugged it in, the TLC identified it, and with the proper name, Bose LS, not just a generic "receiver." Kind of gives me an indication that the software is up-to-date and responsive. I've been very happy with this new TCL that hasn't barked at me once since it's been on the wall, and I recommend giving it a look if you're in the market.

I’ve been blessed with more than one large-screen TV over the years and one of the things that has impressed me lately is how affordable they have become. This TCL model stands out because of this. I had heard about other large-screen 4K models from TCL so I was eager to try this one. With it being 75-inches, I wanted to make sure I had the right amount of space set aside so I got a TV stand in my office and attached its stand so it would sit balanced on the stand. That was very easy, but it did require two people because of its size. So far, I have watched videos using the built-in Roku TV and played some video games on my Xbox. At first, I wasn’t sure how I would like this TV for game playing since it’s only 60Hz for a refresh rate, but the motion enhancement feature really smooths out gameplay. It’s not exactly the same as a higher refresh rate television, but it’s a decent compromise for the price point. Another feature I love is the sleek design of the TV. Since it has a bezel-less design, it really blends the screen into the surrounding environment. This was absolutely intentional to keep the viewer’s attention on the picture rather than the television itself. For me, it absolutely works. I’m very impressed with the picture quality of this TV. It’s surprisingly bright and the colors are very vibrant. Even though it’s an LED monitor, this TCL TV doesn’t have local dimming, mini-LED backlighting, or QLED technology so there is still room for improvement. All it really means is that buyers should keep their expectations of this budget-friendly TV reasonable and realistic. It’s a great picture, but it’s not meant to compete with the high-end OLEDs. All in all, this TV is a solid option. It isn’t trying to be something that it isn’t and it delivers a familiar smart TV experience along with useful modern features.

With built‑in Roku, you can jump straight into streaming, install your favorite apps, and get everything set up quickly. You get strong performance for sports and gaming, crisp 4K picture quality with HDR, and a near bezel‑less design that looks great in any room. It’s hard to go wrong with this one.

TCL 85" Roku TV I have the opportunity given to me to review and evaluate this amazing TCL 85" Hi-Def Color TV. First of all, it is, by far, the largest TV I have ever had in my house. It is huge. The TV is manufactured by TCL. My wife has used a TCL 55" in the living room for three years and she is quite satisfied with it, so we are not in unfamiliar territory. I have always preferred other manufacturers for my personal TV. But when I turned this TV on, I was impressed by the size, the clarity and brightness of the picture. NO MORE SQUINTING for sure. The menu to the settings were easy to navigate and the options to make changes was very easy to make. The TV included over 500 channels and most of them seemed to be free of charge. I haven't had the time to explore them all, but the TV is not going anywhere. I have to say, I have always used a Firestick for Netflix and other pay channels. The Roku is very similar but if I want or need to use a fire stick, I can plug it into an HDMI port on the back of the television. I don't know a lot about TV specifications but the 85" screen, the outstanding TV picture, the flexible channel selection ability make this a very satisfying addition to our living area. I did look up the price of this TCL TV and the price seemed very reasonable, as well. All in all, I would definitely recommend this product if I was asked.

This TV is great for anyone who wants the basics in an overall good tv. A good UI, functionality and a huge screen in a lightweight package (for the screen size). What it is missing up front is high end video features such as Dolby Vision, dimming zones (for deep blacks), high refresh rates and VRR for games. It is a solid TV overall though. Setup: Unboxing is obviously a task with such a large TV. Be sure to find a large flat surface/table and lay some cardboard and blankets across it so you can attach the feet as needed. If you are mounting the TV, the usual 400x400 VESA wall mount is supported. The TV weighs about 40 pounds without the stand, which in my opinion is pretty light for a huge TV. But be sure to have a buddy to lift it with so you do not damage the screen. The setup process is great overall using the Roku TV interface. The only issue I came across was more in the Roku App where it denied access to my account due to the UI having issues on my phone, that may have been an isolated incident though. Otherwise, after logging into the Roku App, it can tie your phone into your Roku account and set up all your TV apps into the TV easily. Once it is set up, there is so much customization which is one of the great aspects of Roku OS. From little penguins flying into the sky in the arctic, to sci-fi beeps and bloops, there are so many aspects which can be customized with the smooth interface. TV Experience: I tested this out with a few Apple TV and Netflix shows and movies, as they tend to put out the highest bitrate for streaming in my opinion. A great demo movie for black levels and HDR content is Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. Many of the scenes have extremely dark backgrounds and bright colorful glowing effects throughout the movie. I was surprised that the best output I could get out of this was HDR 10+, which is great, but slightly lacking in my opinion compared to Dolby Vision. It still looks great, but the brightness did not seem as bright as other displays may provide. You will be limited to 60Hz for gaming content. Black levels are overall well controlled, even with a direct lit LED backlight (no zone dimming). The only time I saw this to be a big issue is in a gray menu screen such as you are viewing menus on an Apple TV. The gray menu shows the problems the backlight may experience (pictured) as the edges of the display appear uneven. Sound: As expected from TV speakers, the sound is ok, not amazing. It is likely better if you wall mount, it as the speakers will have something to bounce off of. I highly suggest hooking up a soundbar and subwoofer to this TV. Connectivity: The connection options are fine for most people. There are three HDMI connections, 1 Ethernet connection, 1 Optical output, 1 USB-A 2.0 and Wi-Fi comes in at Wi-Fi 5 (5Ghz, or AC). All inputs are on the back. The remote control is rather nice as it has a great layout in my opinion. It takes some getting used to just due to the location of the back buttons and the volume buttons, but once committed to muscle memory, it makes sense.

This TCL 75” 4k UHD HDR LED Smart TV with Roku TV is a very affordable TV, particularly for the size and features. It has a bright, crisp picture, easy to navigate controls and an above average screen refresh rate. It feels worth mentioning right off the bat, that it was very well packed with great protection for the screen. It seems like such an obvious thing, but I don't take it for granted as I have received two flat screen type tvs in recent years with poor packing and broken screens. This TV replaced a 65” TV that is about 5 years old. Surprised at how much lighter and thinner this TV is despite the larger size. I realize things are getting very compact but for this price point I didn’t expect it to be as slim. Because of the design it seems to sit closer or tighter to the wall even though I put it on the same mounting as the 65” TV I was replacing. Because it does sit closer to the wall than the older TV (because of the back structure of the TV) it doesn’t feel obtrusive despite the larger size. Mounting pattern and screw sizes are very standard and didn’t require a run to the hardware store to adapt the older wall mount. Input connections are very easy to access and well-placed knowing that these are likely going to be wall mounted. Nothing is in a tight pocket or recess that can be difficult to access when attaching cables while the tv is already mounted. Antenna coax, HDI for the soundbar and HDMI for a Bluray were all easy to connect. This leaves me the USB (probably for a future bias light connection) and another HDMI for future use. I connected an HDMI cable to an HDMI ARC soundbar that I already had in place. When I turned the television on I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the sound automatically routed to the soundbar without any configuration. Plug and play is a big plus. I generally use the soundbar all the time. It seems that I could pair bluetooth headphones with the TV for personal, private listening. I didn't try this myself before writing this review, but I can see this as being a nice plus for may people. Once the tv was up and running the basic configuration of system and services was extremely simple. I am very familiar and a fan of the Roku platform and I wasn’t disappointed by this install. I was actually very surprised to discover that the home screen and menu navigation was extremely zippy. I configured it for wifi and I was shocked to find that the interface was noticeably quicker than the year old Roku Ultra that had been the source of streaming service to the previous tv. More impressive was that I had that Roku hardwired to the router while the tv was (and is) on the wifi. Because I was already invested in the Roku ecosystem, all of the streaming services I use were extremely easy to activate and in no time at all the tv was fully functional. I prefer the style of the home screen to other manufacturers/services. I find it easy to navigate and customize. The previous TV had its own proprietary OS and streaming/app “store”. Even early on I found that things worked better through a connected Roku box than through the TV’s native OS. This is no longer the case as the Roku OS of the TCL S55LR has all the functionality and compatibility that anyone could hope for. I tinkered with the image settings to suit my taste, but “out of the box” the settings were pretty good. Tuning into 4k content on a couple of different streaming platforms I got all the sharpness I would expect, excellent depth of image and color and found that my preferred personalized image settings were very close to standard. The colors are very vivid, though I do think things tend to skew a bit to the red/warm end of the visual spectrum. The brightness of the image is a big upgrade over my previous tv. While the images are very bright, there is a lack of glare or the kind of harshness that would make me feel like it was straining my eyes in a dark room. Turning the HDR setting on an off as a test, the difference was appreciably noticeable with higher end streaming video from the big-name players. At this point, HDR seems like "feature" that should just always be on, but others may feel different. As I mentioned, the tv immediately connected to the HDMI-ARC soundbar, and the sound was every bit as good as I would expect. Playing around with the audio settings within the TV I did lean a little more towards dialog clarity in my choices, even through the soundbar. Without the soundbar, just to test the on-board speakers, I found that they were exactly as I would expect from modern TVs- lacking in low end and overall roundness of tone, but perfectly clear and acceptable for watching the local news. A good soundbar is really a huge plus for the overall experience and the ability to control the through bar volume directly from the TV remote without additional configuration is nice as well. There is a better sync between the image and the audio with this TV than my last, where I needed to adjust for the lip sync delay. One feature I was very excited to see for myself is the better image refresh rate. For some time now higher screen refresh seems to have been exclusive to higher end, or at least more specialized TVs. As someone that watches a lot of live sports I am all too familiar with the trails, tails, blurs, ghosts and flat out pixelation of images with fast moving live sports images. Watching live MLB baseball in full 4k streaming and NFL football at an upscaled 1080 (from my antenna) I was very happy to see the images remain sharp and without artifacts from the image delay, no matter how fast the action went. To push things even further I connected the full 4k feed from my game console- which normally lives on a smaller, dedicated gaming monitor in another room- and I was again very impressed with the image refresh. To my eye, it was as good as my usual gaming monitor, at much more than double the overall screen size. I can say that for the casual gamer, this TV has every bit as good of image quality across the board as more expensive, gaming centric devices. Because this is a Roku TV, things like screen mirroring/casting/play are extremely simple. Throwing photos from the phone to screen is super easy and mirroring my laptop was a snap as well. In comparison, some other Television operating systems have additional steps to the process, and in at least one case I have experienced, bury the functionality deep in menus. I can honestly say that overall I have been surprised by the quality and capabilities of this TV considering its size and price point. In direct comparison to a 75” TV with similar “specs” that I use regularly at work, that is from a different hardware manufacturer with a different streaming/operating system I would say this TV is easily better at a lower price point. I would recommend this TV to anyone that is looking for an immersive image, and a mature and reliable operating system without breaking the bank. I think this TV would be a huge hit with sports fans and casual gamers and I am happy to have it.

Im using this TCL TV specifically to put outside on our covered back deck. I know this TV isn’t an outdoor TV but I’m willing to take that risk considering the price difference between this and a true outdoor TV. But in my case, I think it will work out well. The TV will be installed completely underneath the covered part of the deck where it won’t get rain and when we aren’t using it I’ll cover it with a weather-resistant cover to have some protection from the weather. Obviously humidity and temperature changes are still something to keep in mind so time will tell how it fares. I’m really impressed with the TV itself, even considering the price point. The picture is sharp, colors are very good and there’s enough brightness for the way we’re going to use it. I’ve seen people complain about the brightness on some less expensive TVs, but I don’t care about that very much. We’re not going to sit on the deck at noon to watch TV with the sun blasting all over it. Most of our viewing will be on summer evenings and nights when we hang out on deck, playing games, watching movies, or watching Netflix. I think that picture is going to be great under those conditions. Setup was also pretty easy. Connecting it to Wi-Fi and setting up the streaming apps is easy, and the smart TV interface seems quick and straightforward. I didn’t have to spend half the day figuring out menus or changing a hundred different settings just to get a decent picture. I really can’t comment much on the TV’s built-in sound because that wasn’t an important consideration for me when buying it. I did test the sound from the internal speakers and they sounded fine. For my use I already have a Sonos/Sonance outdoor speaker system installed around the deck, and that will be providing the audio for the TV. That should actually make this a pretty nice outdoor entertainment setup, since the TCL really only needs to handle the picture while the Sonos/Sonance system takes care of the sound. I would much rather have the audio coming through outdoor speakers for my particular use anyway. Overall, I’m very happy with it so far. I wasn’t looking for the greatest television ever made. I wanted a good-looking, reasonably priced TV that I could put on the deck without having a heart attack every time the weather forecast called for rain. This TCL seems perfect for that. Could it eventually fail sooner because I’m using an indoor TV outside? Absolutely. I know that going in. But considering it’ll be under a covered deck, protected with a TV cover when we’re not using it and mainly watched during warm summer evenings and nights, I’m willing to take the chance. For what this TV costs compared to a dedicated outdoor model, if I get several good summers out of it, I’ll consider that a win. So far, the picture, features and overall value have definitely exceeded my expectations.

First, this TV is HUGE and if you're deciding on where it can go make sure you take that into consideration. It did fit in our entertainment center perfectly and is perfect for what we need in the room it's in leaving our OLED TV in our theater room downstairs. The picture is even bright and has crisp natural-looking colors with 4K resolution. The HDR10 content does look noticeably different and bright/balanced. For being a large display and not the highest end large TV it actually is pretty nice overall in terms of the display and sound. For being built-in the sound is pretty good, you can turn it up pretty loud still sound good but don't expect it to sound like a soundbar with dedicated subwoofer. For watching most content though it really does sound just right. Things to note though that it doesn't have is the local dimming or MiniLED so the blacks won't necessarily be the deepest of blacks but in the room we have it in the picture looks just right. We've always liked the Roku operating system as it's FAST and just works and the built-in Roku features on this TV are certainly no different. It's fast, responsive and you can get to where you want to go in a few clicks to watch what you want to watch. There are inputs for additional things like an Xbox and eARC for an audio system. I'd recommend this TV as it offers a bunch for what you get and a decent picture on a huge screen.

I bought this for a bright room, and on that one job it wins outright. The picture is bright enough to overcome most glare, even with the lights on and the room working against it. It was a bit of a surprise to see a value priced set work this well. TCL delivers extra value with this year's model. The contrast surprised me more. Even without local dimming black bars on alternate aspect ratio programming, the classic place where a cheap panel shows its seams, stayed clean. Space scenes, exteriors in the evening, all of it looked good on a set that shows black without halos or looking grey. Where the picture does slip is motion. During some sports action it goes a little soft, and a long football pass is where you'll notice it. The ball and the receiver lose a bit of definition right at the moment you're leaning in. It's not unwatchable, but if Sunday afternoons are the reason you're buying a 75-inch TV, know that going in. The Roku side is a split decision. The apps themselves are rock solid. I ask for something, it comes up quickly, and I don't sit there watching a spinner. Getting to those apps is less smooth. Roku's navigation is a bit confusing compared with Fire TV or Google TV, and there are more ads for services and programming pushed at you along the way. I couldn’t figure out a way to re-order the apps or even search for what I wanted, as the remote doesn’t support voice as both of the others do. The ads were also a bit more intrusive than on Fire TV, which is itself more intrusive than Google. Fortunately, you can get an external stick from Google or Amazon to solve the interface issue. It’s otherwise an excellent device. The remote I like more than I expected to. It's compact and easy to use, and putting the volume controls on the side is a smart bit of space saving that frees up room for the buttons you actually use regularly. Worth knowing before you buy: it isn't backlit, and it doesn't do voice commands. That's a spec, not a complaint from me, but if you've gotten used to holding down a button and just saying what you want, you'll be disappointed. Bottom Line: A bright, high contrast 75-inch set that handles a well-lit room better than it has any right to in this price range. If you want a big screen for a bright living room and you're a mostly movies and streaming household, this is a lot of TV. TCL is delivering some extra value with this set. Enjoy it! If you watch a lot of fast sports, or you want a clean interface and a voice remote, pick up a Fire TV stick to go along with this and just remember you didn't pay much.
